I honestly think phones will keep trending in this direction. Flip phones didn't go away because people didn't like them, they went away because we couldn't fold our smartphones. The future is definitely in form factors that can change in size. Once Apple gets onboard it'll become the default mainstream style and we'll get to see even faster improvements from the likes of Samsung and Motorola.

It's the clear passion of the subject he's talking about, the fluency of his speech, the balance of using a rich vocabulary and being easily understood by the average viewer, the interjections between different sections, the on-point short clips that perfectly display the current sentence in video form, and many other factors that combine to make a video that is both entertaining and informative.

Foldables like the Z Fold 4 are the headline for a reason. They actually solve a problem aka they serve a purpose. Clamshell foldable phones are COOL and FUN but they don't solve a problem. They're just regular slab phones that can fold in half to become twice as thick. You're not getting a bigger screen in your pocket. They're basically smart make-up mirrors for females which is why females love the Z Flip so much.

While I think it's the shame we lost the iconic RAZR hardware design, the practicality of the cover display is incredibly helpful, especially when you can do that much without even opening it. @@TheMrMobile I think it's funny that with non-folding smartphones, we want larger camera sensors (= better photos+video) and thus a phone thickness of (0.32-0.34) but with a folding phone we want the opposite, we want it to be slimmer, (because it doubles the thickness when it's a foldable), so I'm hoping for when I get my 1st folding phone, it has a balance of what is feasible to put in a folding phone, but with great optics and photo quality. Hoping the Galaxy Flip 5 will have 12 GB of RAM may a premium Ultra model. The battery life needs to be better. However, I do believe this will disappoint me in the long run. I use an iPhone so I’m not really familiar with the camera on the Samsung or the Motorola phones. On my iPhone I find I can play with the exposure settings to get the color saturation that I want. There’s a setting in the iPhone camera called EV and I can put the setting at from -2 to +2. Sometimes when I take a picture, I will look at the picture and see what EV sitting the phone with use and then I’ll either push it up a notch or bring it back a notch depending on what I want to do. If I want more color pop I will push it a bit and if I want less color pop because the subject is not perfect I will pull it a little bit. Since you are very familiar with the Samsung phone, maybe you could look into how to play with the settings on it and see if you could do the same thing.

That is something that got me interested in the 5G model, the usage of the outer screen. Barely had to open the phone. Never had a lot of issues due to the small chip, choppy pics or crease on screen, was way less than any Samsung foldable. I really miss the hinge, which help me hold the phone without smudging the screen, create a small cave with my hand which resonated more volume towards me. I'm interested in the new + model. Seeing how on hold calls are hung when closing the screen may be related to settings glitch, really hope the camera gets updates to fix those little details. I will have to wait till I get mine. Thanks for the info.

This is honestly the best phone of the year, i don't care about Samsung or it's value or whatever you call it It got better screen, a very awesome Camera, and there is almost no real difference between it & the Samsung Camera I just got a Magenta Color, and already in love with this thing

Excellent review. Even though I've never used one personally, I think the problem with outer screens on many recent flip phones really never been the size but how you've been allowed to use whatever space the outer screen had. With far too many of the limitations feeling artificial, not being able to read messages and sending to anyone of your contacts are a few quite frankly baffeling ones.

I was a Motorola Droid Turbo user for five solid years and I'd love to support Motorola again by getting the Razr Plus. But the substandard camera function under this brand is quite a deal breaker for me... sigh. Although I felt sorry to ditch my Droid Turbo for the Pixel 5, Google's camera was a HUGE upgrade. Aargh. This is really a department Motorola's been struggling to keep up with all these years.

I've had the Razr Plus since 6/21 and I am loving it. The fold in the middle is hardly noticeable wile using. Yes your finger can feel it but it's not intrusive. The way the screen folds into the hinge is cool. The Motorola is nice to come back to. The camera has the Magic Eraser feature I was missing. Apps on the exterior screen are ok, it is nice to read and send messages without opening the phone. There is a feature called Ready For--- It runs the phones software on your Computer or TV. On the TV the phone turns into a wireless remote with cursor or without. You can actually have multiple apps open on the TV, Netflix on the left and messages on the right, or whatever you like. It's pretty cool. This is also the best fingerprint sensor I've used. Anyway, hope this helps a little. I just can't put it down. I have no issues with battery life either. EDIT: If you want the ALWAYS ON display, the Razr plus does have a Screen Saver mode which is a good alternative.

I will probably never buy this phone or most of the stuff you review, but watching your videos while having my breakfast, or especially when I want something to relax, nothing tops your reviews Michael, lots of love and admiration.

Thanks for talking about the call quality, some of us old-school folks still use these devices as a phone 😉.

Great start to the review using the phone with daily life usability. It is the most important part of the phone's functionality. The front screen stands out for communication and the software adaptation looks like it was designed for real life. Thanks excellent reviews.

I love flip and fold phones not only because of the nostalgia and the style but it gives people more options. Ain't nothing like having a conversation with people about what phone they have other than the same old same old.

I like Motorola because they're one of the more creative cellphone makers right now that we still have left the U.S. But I think the next step for this RAZR series is to give it a replaceable battery, just like the original RAZR had. Imagine having an airpods-like charging case that holds a spare battery and when you need more juice, you just swap it out and charge the battery separately from your phone.

With the EU planning to mandate user swappable battery soon you might actually get that in a few years time
