I found the problem. I think this problem has moved to flip 4 .Had to break the screen on my flip3 before I got to the hinges. The problem is in the anthers. Inside the hinges there are laces / ropes that collect dust and protect against dust falling into the mechanisms. When your phone falls, this lace falls out of the seat. And I think that you it is not necessary to drop it, it will be enough to quickly close it with a click or make any sudden movements. I think this is the same problem for all Samsung folding phones

This happened to both my z flip 4's, its always the left hinge that becomes faulty and creates a gap on the back. Samsung repaired both phones free of charge, but how long before it happens again....there's a serious flaw in this design and Samsung need to address it.

I had my flip 3 for 14 months now with no major issues and I was super happy with it (still I am). In the 14 months two things happened that was kind of okay, the hinge had a little noise and hardly noticeable "looseness" but it was all right and the original screen protector fell off (broke right in the middle crease) and I replaced it with some third party screen protector. A week ago things started to get weird, after opening the phone the screen had a delay to show anything or remained black for a few seconds. I noticed a really small line on the crease with rainbow color so I knew the screen is dying. I went in to a samsung service store, and within 24 hours I had my screen replaced, both batteries and I also was offered a brand new hinge, so the phone is almost like new. Since day one it has been in an original Samsung phone case so there are no damages on the sides or anywhere on the phone they even complimented of the phone being well kept so I guess that was one condition for the warranty but after all I got my flip 3 renewed completely free of charge and I have 10 more months left in warranty so I am not worried.

Glad to hear it worked out for you. Yes that is a very major thing that if you have any slight scratch anywhere around the body of phone that is pretty much their way to deny any claim. I stood in line at Samsung and saw a few people with same issue just get denied and it was painful. The bad part about it is that if that same issue happens again to your phone after the warranty then your out a 1000 dollar phone. Problem is that they did not replace the parts with better updated parts, just replaced them with the same parts that keep becoming defective. I traded my 3 for the 4 and within 2 months got the screen of death. Luckily i had bought a high end case and there was 0 marks on phone so they did fix without issue but Its just frustrating to know that at any time the screen can go out again and if its out of warranty then it was very expensive phone for the time i got out of it. will just keep upgradind and at least that extends the warranty.

The fold 3 I own, wont open all the way anymore. had the bubbles on the inside screen so I replaced it with an aftermarket screen protector and all was okay. but the hing thing is annoying to say the least

if its been under 1 year you can get fixed under warranty and the screen has a free 1 time replacement for the first year.......I ended up upgrading to the 4 since the hinges are different and was well worth the 150 i paid to upgrade...it was like paying for a new 1 year insurance policy.

i upgraded to the 4 and now the 4 screen has been damaged at the fold and i have only owned for less than 2 months....i think im going back to galaxy s22 till they figure this out.

After some longer usage the screen actually breaks along the delamination and the liquid crystal spills around. So this phone has serious quality issue with the screen. My wife's Flip 3 managed to work for only 15 months, then it cracked along the crease and the upper part is no longer touch-sensitive. Which does not quite matter since almost whole screen is now black anyway... Don't buy this phone. It seems that similarly to Note 7, this time Samsung with the flip / fold phones did not do it right...

I recently upgraded to th ezflip 4 and the exact thing happened to mine, the screen started crackingright at the fold and within a day the center just ended up black, after that the whole top part of screen stopped working and phone was only 3 months old.

I bought 2 flip3. Have no issues so, but my wife dropped her phone on the hinge & it now opens as shown in your video. Apart from that, we've had a good run with these phones. Looking to up graids to the flip5

FYI IF YOU CAN UPGRADE NOW......this is best time to do it (pre release) you can upgrade to the 5 direct thru samsung and only pay 100 for the upgrade if you trade in the 4 that is a no brainer, your basically paying for a new warranty and bonus is you get a new phone. you wont get a better price but make sure its done direct thru the samsung website.

I'm going through this problem right now and I haven't even had the phone for 8 months, first began with the screen bubbling just like this one, it then started making crunching kind of noises, I honestly thought nothing of it because I did read, it's the crease you're going to get it, phone was fine kept an eye on it then i noticed where the bubbles were occurring I had this now grey bump/dent where the fold of phone is again just thought it was the crease, wasn't till a few days ago I opened my phone noticed the hinge had broke due the screen lifting, and a black pixelated blob right along the crease and lost the touch screen from there up, I started panicking lol shouldn't have done it but I closed and opened it again to find no screen at all except for in the lower right corner and it looking like I had dropped it in water cause I touched it and there was a liquid underneath the screen, now at present I'm fighting a battle with samsung to get it replaced because according to their repair people I dropped it and that caused the screen to smash and the inside hinge to break, I don't think I'm going to win this one but if anyone has any advice would be nice, cheers 😃

thats the exact same answer i got when i took in to a samsung store, i asked for manager and explained how the issue started at 2 months without any drops of phone, it was a back and forth and finally they did honor the warranty at no charge, you can try a diferent repair store(hopefully a samsung store make sure to ask for manager, if there is any scratching around the edge they will claim thats the reason it broke since thats a sign of a drop so it just depends on the tech. good luck

In July 2022 I purchase the phone had issues had to send the phone back to Samsung. They sent me a refurbish flip 3 the phone was getting hot off and on, called the sent me another refurbish phone. Know I'm having the same issues, my screen inside the phone has cracked along the fold plus the top of the phone touch screen do not work. My screen protector in perfect condition, but along the crack is turning black. Samsung told me that the phone was going to cost me 400 dollars to fix, but the gave me a shit offer to replace the phone with a flip 5 but I have to pay 600 dollars to replace it. WTF the phone is less than 18 months old.

I know the feeling. My Hack is that every year since the 3 came out i have waited for the release of the new phone. Once you know the new phone is coming out(around Sep) sign up for the presale which gives you 50 off. Then when you have the chance to preorder you get about 800 to 900 off the newest version if you have the latest version so when the 5 came out i had the 4...i traded it and got 900 trade in value(only good during the pre order phase) plus the 50 for signing up to be on their list so i got the new flip 5 for under 100 which included taxes.....Now thats basically paying for a 1 year warranty every year. Its well worth it for me especially with these phones. anyway, anyone getting these phones just know that you will probably end up with headaches if you keep it past the 1 year mark.

I simply took the extra screen off and no big deal. I've had it two years and the screen is fine. Since it's usually closed it just doesn't get scratched. My hinge just now started messing up. But it's almost time to upgrade anyway.

I just started upgrading every year, You get 800 trade in value plus 50 if you do a preorder, phone comes out to under 150 which more than covers having insurance on a hone plus bonus i s that your getting the newest model.

They told me the exact same thing you have to really argue with them because that phone cost over $1200 I simply told them if they cannot fix it then I'm moving onto some other phone brand they said ok we got you so I sent my phone to them. It took over halfway a month but they fixed it for free.

They will do all they can to not fix and charge, there were multiple people at store with same issue so they cant say its user error when so many others are having issues with this phone.

if it looks the same as this you could try removing the screen protector ...they say it voids warranty but if your phones out of warranty already does not really matter, you can just replace screen protector

The screen protector is no big deal! I took mine off months ago because of the crease in the middle, which looks like a cracked screen. You do not need the screen protector, so don't waste your money having that done. If you feel you must have a screen protector, I assume you can buy one and it doesn't take a genius to apply them.

Same issue for me. After 2.5 years I got a tiny crack on the crease. Soon will break and screen will leak. This is not good tech. I will never buy another flip phone

I dont think they are that bad BUT You have to upgrade every year to keep that warranty going so i have done it past three years on every flip and it costs me around 140 to upgrade to new phone.

Dont think its junk but it does have its issues, i have had the 3 4 and now ordering 5 I like the size and the fact i can hav in my pocket without the huge size so it serves its purpose for me but does have its issues. Performs great other than that

UBREAKIFIX is a direct competitor to the IBREAKUFIX store 🙃 My wife had a Flip 4 and she dropped it once on pavement and the screens did not crack but there was only internal damage. The screens did not display correctly anymore and the haptics no longer functioned properly. She unfortunately left all Androids and hopped over to iPhone. The warranty does not apply because she bought the Flip4 in Ireland.

i upgraded to the 4 thinking issues would be resolved but within 3 months the screen started craking at fold and then went black around the center, after the whole top screen did not work, luckily samsung fixed but only because phone had absolutely 0 damage around edges so they could not say it was due to me. I am ready to move to diferent product as well.
