In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens kzbin.infoUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Captains, I've never heard a better explanation. A visual on a screen is a reflection, not necessarily a keeper catch? There's fish, Yes. But.... don't spend all day playing there, 45 - 60 minutes is enough time too figure it out. An true, not all , keepers will bite? Bait, presentation, and surface conditions will all be involved. You both are a wealth of knowledge too so many, keep up the excellent channel .....

I love the video! The fish finder has always been my downfall so my husband is always the one that uses it lol I have a video request for you as well. I am interested in seeing how you store your tackle (such as hooks for live bait fishing days) while on the boat as well as after you are home and cleaning up. We are in the Tampa area so fish the bay a lot and mainly use live bait. We cannot seem to find a good way to store hooks and such that stops them from rusting prematurely. We bring our tackle box inside after our fishing day and I try to clean things up after every trip but stuff still rusts. I'm at a loss lol

Great channel and thanks for sharing your knowledge! I have learned a lot about salt water fishing from you all -thank you. One recommendation that you may have already considered: create a store on Amazon and put your favorite lures, rods, reels, and other gear in the store. I think you get a commission from Amazon of the seller and it would help viewers like me identify and buy the gear your are praising like Island Lures. Keep the content coming!

I'm sure you already know this but if you pass over something and want a more accurate mark you can: hit the pause button (bottom left of screen), pan back, tap the mark you like, and then mark that waypoint. If you just hit mark it will be past the area you want to go back to.

Fish finders have come a long way from the first Humminbird flasher unit my grandfather had in the 1970's. On my home lake, I use the chirp and regular sonar and can actually tell whether a school of fish are crappie, catfish or bass by the way it looks on the screen.

Great video ladies, but I have a question. I always hear about low and high frequency but at which depths do they apply? Like when I get in like 50 or less is that considered shallow and I that's when I use high frequency? And is 50 plus feet considered deep water and I use low frequency idk which depths I should use it.
@Kowalski301
@Kowalski301 3 жыл бұрын
That will depend on the transducer. Normally, 50-100 ft is considered great for high frequency, but be aware that high usually has a much narrower beam than low (unless you have the newer HW transducers) so you cover a smaller area but get more detail. If you have a standard 50/200 just run both frequencies on split screen and see what works best for you.

I see there is a scale depicting depth, but is there a way of determining distance behind the boat of something you have passed over?
@michiganengineer8621
@michiganengineer8621 3 жыл бұрын
Good question and one I'd like to know more about too! At a _GUESS_ it's going to depend on both boat speed as you're searching and on the update speed of your sonar/fish-finder system. And that second factor will likely depend on the make of the display and user settings.

Great subject well explained. There's so many I know would love to see more on the fish Finder/plotter instruction and tips. You mentioned in a previous video about hitting the Mark button opposed to the old days when we used to hit MOB too quickly Mark a spot. We're between boats right now but purchased a new Garmin and we're utilizing the time to study in depth the functions. With no boat until July you tube is the only source but you girls explain the best. My question is can you mark an area to explore without inputing a full blown waypoint by just touching the screen or do you have to make waypoints then delete duds later..??? Do you use Google and preplan a trip with active captain or whatever app..??? Thank you girls.. excellent and would love to see more on this subject.. 😊

That was a really good explanation, thanks very much. One thing I like about Garmin is the ability to get a waypoint from the sonar history. You know the stuff to the left you called old data. You can pause the sonar, click on an old spot you like, and save a waypoint. I find this useful when I am fishing a longer ledge. I scout the most active spots on the ledge. After that, I set a waypoint for the one I like the most.
