Indiana at Cincinnati - 1/4/1992

Now THIS is a lost classic. The last game of the 1991-92 non-conference season sees a matchup of two teams that would both make the Final Four later that year. IU starts off getting shellacked by a hungry Bearcats team, only to turn the tables completely and run away with things in the second half. You'll laugh heartily at how young Bob Huggins looks in this one.

Thank you, Galen, for your work in posting these games from a real golden age in IU hoops. I have a story about this game: my dad always made an "IU fire" in the fireplace to ensure an IU win when they played. He wasn't home that night so I watched this game alone, then at half I realized the problem and made a fire. I have never doubted dad since.

JonWhite17 Yep', this was his first season at UC, out of Junior College, and this was in January, so he was still feeling his way, learning the system, into the starting lineup. It wasn't long after this contest, that he was starting though, and of course, by seasons end, they were in the 1992 Final Four, as by then, he was the man for the Bearcats...

They would make two lineup changes not long after this game. Van Exel replaced A.D. Jackson at point guard and Terry Nelson took Jeff Scott's place as a starting forward.
