I found GOLD in an ILLEGAL ground sluice!

I discovered by accident a VERY OLD illegal ground sluice someone build right into the river bed on my Dream Claim. I am not allowed to leave it in place but I am allowed to check out what it captured as I remove it and keep my claim in good standings with the claim inspectors. Check out what gold I found!
BC Mining law says you can not modify the creak bed in ay way. I know my inspectors watch my videos and check my claims so to keep from getting untroubled for this ground sluice I will be removing it.

Good day Dan! You have brought me a lot of joy through your gold panning adventures. I have recently moved to B.C. form Colorado. This place is magical! My wife just got me a gold panning kit so I can explore this beautiful landscape. I am heading to the cayoosh panning reserve today my very first pan! I want to thank you for inspiring me to get out and have some fun! Maybe one day I could join you on an expedition so I can learn from a grand Master prospector. I look forward to seeing all your future videos thank you again for all the tips and wisdom you share with all of us with the fever!

The idea of claim jumpers sticks in my craw. I use cellular cameras on my property and I had one neighbor up the road who persistently liked to snoop despite being politely asked to not tresspass. Eventually what made him stop was me posting enlarged photos of him labeled tresspasser up and down the road. All of my neighbors except for him liked it and he has not been back!

Worm guts coating both of your hands from rebating 200+ hooks. The worm guts dry, and you have a worm gut glove you can literally almost peel off in one piece. And does it smell the whole. Later, you wear real glove and bring a gallon of water and a pan to scrub your hands free of worm gut juice. You catch 2 brim and 12 crappie fish in 7 years, then lose interest.

In my mining district in Oregon when we find gold with the white in them , it ended up being mercury! They were using sluce’s in the creek and would dump mercury in them to recover the gold out of them . My guess is quite possible that’s what was going on there !
@patdexter9188
@patdexter9188 2 жыл бұрын
Yes sir, I've seen that to! I've even found copper plates instead of carpet, in small sections usually lower in the sluice to try and catch smaller pieces. They would from time to time pull them scrape off the amalgamated mercury and add more to it because some alway washed off. They didn't know or care about the dangers of mercury just wanted that yellow suff! The Chinese used copper plates alot to, you could always tell where they mined because they stacked rocks perfectly to make walkways and walls. And found alot of gold after the miners moved on. They got jealous of the Chinese! Alot were murdered and robbed! Sad what happened back then.

you made me almost fall out of my chair laughing at the idea that somebody was just dumping dump trucks full of dirt in that sluice. and that's why the hillside is like that. not the obvious signs of weathering from seasonal flash flooding devastating the landscape around that river. an old timer built that to let the seasonal flash floods mine and wash gold for him. he'd just come back after the snow melt and flooding and clean it out. easy money.

Anytime my mats wore out I would do this for a few grams of fines. Interesting find. I personally got into prospecting back when GPAA/LDMA were on local channels and then on satellite. I only prospected in my state of Georgia both at outings and by myself on weekends. I sold all of my equipment, the pans, sluice, pump and so on because I moved to the only US state that probably has no gold, Hawaii. Something about getting into warm water and not having damp, cold hobbies was appealing to me! I think the only way to find gold out here in with a metal detector along the popular visitor beaches!

My question is this, since a lot of the gold in ^this type of environment is going to be very, VERY fine grained, how much of it gets missed and unknowingly dumped back out of the pan along with the rest of the fine grained sediment? Even if you can see a bit of it mixed in with the other sediment in the pan, can you successfully separate and collect it?

For boulders i use a portable hammer- drill and 1/2' mason bit to insert expansion bolts where i can use extra heavy duty comealong. On really large boulders i put an achor bolt in each side and use two comealongs to walk the boulder, including upstream as needed. Of course one has to anchor to a larger boulder or one that is buried. I've moved boulders 4' (1-1/3 meters) wide X 3' (1 meter) upstream by myself in just a short time. Heavy chains with link hooks makes for minimal comelaong rehook time.

really excited for part 2, been a while since i followed a youtuber this closely! you have a wealth of knowledge and kindness that you display so perfectly! i think most of the gold is gonna be locked up in those big blobs of rust. i suspect there was also a great deal of iron stone dropping out which would rust right next to the bigger nuggets. that silvery stuff could be mercury amalgam where the mercury content is really low, other than that ive only ever seen gold covered with limonte, or manganese oxide but im a desert dweller! you probably have seen more than me.

When I was in high school in the late 70's our high school science teacher was into all kinds of things. He told us about a creek nearby (in Pennsylvania) where he would set up a box of some kind and put it in the creek. He said about once a year he would take the box out and then extract whatever he would get. He claimed he would get about an ounce of gold each year. I stumbled across a site that pans for gold in Pa. and it brought back memories of high school. I know the name of the creek, but I just did it for more of satisfying an interest.

There is green astroturf underneath the iron of the sluice, so it won't be nearly old enough to be wrought iron. My best guess is that the river sluice was put in in the 80's or 90's.

The gold in rock like that makes me think this is the tail end of a larger water sluice pumping water from river to top and washing out the days haul from a mine somewhere near by. The wet mic wasn't bad enough to deter from the video. very understandable. just a thought as it's something i am looking into being 50 with Diabetic nephropathy I am very subject to falling. The world of bionic exoskeletons seems to be making a huge leap forward lately and prices aren't looking bad. I am not selling so that's all I'll say there. However they would definitely help with that fall damage sensing, catching, and adjusting so maybe you don't break your coccyx (love that word lol) on one of those falls which is painful and potentially debilitating, and could potentially get some assistance with those mid range rocks.
