The truth is available, but misotheists persist in using biased and uninformed sources to further the idea that "religion" is opposed to science. They also ignore how he was unpleasant at times and wrong in several areas. It occurs to me that even if Mr. Galilei was actually persecuted because he went against dogma, it would mean certain Roman Catholic dogmas were threatened, so that organization reacted. It would not mean religion and science are at war. Hasty generalization?

Ugh I'm so relieved you wrote this so I didn't have to. You inadvertently saved me much anxiety and unfortunately anger.

Copernicus deserves the highest recognition because he mathematically described how the Earth rotated around the Sun. While others before him only speculated. Galileo with the aid of a telescope ONLY proved Copernicus was right.

What led to the widespread and unfettered distribution of Copernicus' truly revolutionary heliocentric work, when Galileo some 90 years later met such severe opposition from Catholic church authorities? The church philosophers were steeped in Aristotle's geocentric view at the time, accepted as dogma ever since one of its seminal theologians, Thomas Acquinas, had used the arguments of Aristotle as proofs for the existence of the Christian God to counter the Muslim theologians who were doing the same for Allah at the time. I contend it was the forward to de Revolutionibus, written anonymously by a Protestant theologian by the name of Andreas Osiander, much to the chagrin of Copernicus. Osiander was tasked by a student of Copernicus to get the work published at Copernicus' behest, who by then was nearing death. Osiander realized how such a revolutionary viewpoint of the universe would be taken by Catholic church authorities. So he decided, without Copernicus’ approval, to pen an anonymous forward defending the endeavor, in which he took a more pragmatic rather than idealistic perspective, stating in essence that the theory may or may not be true, but that the reader should at least consider it as a way to make a more accurate calendar which was a key focus at the time (the Gregorian calendar, still in use today, was adopted some 18 years after Copernicus' death). Understandably, Copernicus was livid when he found out about the forward, but I believe it actually saved his hide and legacy. For it led to the widespread and largely unopposed dissemination of his work such that Galileo was able to use it and his telescope to prove the sun was at the center of the solar system, in direct contradiction to what philosophers had believed for almost 2,000 years. That spelled the end of philosophy (and Aristotelian deductive syllogistic reasoning) as the dominant source of truth in universities and the rise of science (inductive reasoning) to replace it, despite the mathematician/philosopher René Descartes' vain attempt to re-establish such deductive reasoning on a more firm foundation, the one premise that was undoubtedly true. Such pragmatism is the reason engineering and technology play such a vital role in society today. I'll have to admit I'm a bit biased. I'm an engineer and a descendent of Andreas Osiander. Andreas married Barbara Häyland. Their fifth-generation great-granddaughter Christina Barbara Osiander Epting emigrated to Newberry, SC, USA in the 1700's.

Not so. Galileo's observations were equally well explained by the Tychonian and Capellan geostatic models. His opponents had telescopes too, and confirmed his observations, but not his interpretations.

What is most amazing is that the Catholic Church has not entirely “rehabilitated” Galileo to this day even in light of empirical proof that the Church was wrong and Galileo was correct.

I have wondered about recently why there is no writing before the Bronze Age as if intelligence has been decreasing over time , why is there no writing in the neolythic period or are they hiding the writing from us

@Jonathan Sarfati because if we question history from a biblical perspective, I believe in biblical history KZbin comments also help you with the KZbin algorithm even if they are not on the topic 🙂 as that's how KZbin works , it helps you reach a larger audience. As in the UK I have not more had to deal with evolutionist but people who believe in Atlantis and the young dryas period and bright insights stuff Also with things like chat gpt which can bring resources on Galileo reference at a click as I was interested it what new things you bring to the table as I have watched the video 🙂

In the Bible man was smelting very early in the book of Genesis. Much of this knowledge was lost at the Tower of Babel. So a modern Archeologist with a secular education would recognize a tool made from bronze but would not find it the animal parchment or the papyrus that they wrote the tales of the men that were slayed by it. And unless they knew Chinese they wouldn’t know that the Chinese characters inside the word symbols were telling the story of the book of Genesis. They would be inclined to believe that Chinese was the oldest written language and that it was younger than the sword. Unless you are going out of your way to educate yourself you would not come across any other evidence in secular books and you would not hear it from the teachers who have only read the secular literature. So that’s going to color your view of everything that you see and you would filter it through that because you quite literally don’t know any better and you end up asking the wrong questions because you don’t even know enough to know what to ask.

Coming from Creation Ministries, I am shocked at the above talk. In the Bible it stated 67 times that the universe rotates around the Earth. That is what the Church of 1616 and 1633 defended against Galileo's assertion that the Bible was read wrong. Now I presume your ministry on Creation believe that God created all as revealed in Genesis. In other words you take Genesis literally, while at the same time reject the revelation that God created the Earth at the center of the universe and the universe rotates around it to bring day and night and the seasons. In other words, while you defend Creation from atheism, you go along with atheistic heliocentrism. Time was when I, as most are, was educated to believe in the evolution of all, from the Big Bang 13.7 billion years ago. It was only when I read a book by a creationist I realised how stupid I was to believe sponges evolved into elephants. So I began to study the subject until I was told by a wise man that Galileo's heliocentrism resurrected evolution from the past. You see even before the Old Testament was written, heliocentrism and evolution were pagan beliefs. So, I asked myself, was the Bible wrong in revealing the Earth is fixed and the sun and stars turn about it. For 33 years I studied the matter and as any Christian should believe, its geocentrism was never proven wrong. ‘All modern cosmology [and Modernist exegesis] stands or falls with this concept being correct, even though, to quote a text approved by Einstein: “We cannot feel our motion through space, nor has any experiment proved the Earth in motion.”’---Lincoln Barnett: The universe and Dr. Einstein, Dover, 1948, p.73 ‘Whether the Earth rotates once a day from west to east as [Galileo] taught, or the heavens revolve once a day from east to west as [ the Catholic Church of 1616 and 1633] believed, the observable phenomena will be exactly the same. This shows a defect in Newtonian dynamics, since an empirical science ought not to contain a metaphysical assumption that cannot be proved or disproved by observation.’--- Bertrand Russell: quoted in D. D. Sciama’s The Unity of the Universe, 1959, p.18. Note first what Russell (1872-1970) admits; that empirical science cannot tell us the order of the world for certain, for universal relativity makes it a metaphysical question, not one for science to determine. You see the problem with whether the sun and stars revolve around the Earth as we see them do, and as the Bible says they do, or whether the Earth orbits the sun while revolving in a fixed-star universe as we are told they do, is one of relative movement in space. Only if we could position ourselves outside the universe and look in at it, would it be possible to see what cosmic bodies are fixed or move, and only then could we humans confirm the true order of its many movements. But because we are confined within our place in space and cannot go outside the universe to view inside it, no human science can confirm the true order of the universe for certain. In other words, the Galileo case was never of ‘Faith and Science,’ but one of ‘Faith and metaphysics.’ But the Lord God does know the order of his universe, and He confirmed in Scripture the universe was created geocentric, an order visible to the senses that show us humans the sun and stars turning around the Earth ‘for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years.’ Nevertheless, I find on creation sites, the usual 'Galileo ~ Myth vs Reality that helps convince its members that the Bible was read wrong and Galileo the perjurer, yes perjurer, as he swore to the Inquisition he never believed in the Earth going around the sun, was right in his astronomy. I could go on but the truth is now out. God bless all.

Did you know it was actually Jesus Christ himself who discovered the canals on Mars? It's right there in Leviticus 24:7. End of story. Enough said.

My primer for telling what is true and false is the WORD of God. KJV was published to King James could have a Bible in his Kingdom both protestant and Anglican both would use. All commentary removed, just the Word. Just as God ordained, His divine hand in. If something doesn't add up in math, than the equation is wrong. Anything that occurs naturally in the world when changed will have a ripple effect. Switching to Gregorian was fine, but removing days say 14 days will cause a ripple. Now we got leap years, forever going to have to recalculate to adjust. (Bronze age Collapse / Tower of Babel) - Bible has more answers than we know.
