I use thermal lock, and if you put it in hot boiling water just the amount that you need, it will come to a very soft form, use some tongs to remove from the hot water dried off with the towel or paper towels. I just found your channel so I don’t know what tools you have. Anyway right now you’re making pendants so placing it on a piece of wood will work just as good for setting a pendant. I’m also a self taught metalsmith, and I’ve also taken a lot of courses online. I teach online too. And at a school in Texas USA. I work with beginners and a lot of people just don’t have the money to start off with so I tried to help my students find items at home so they can save money. If my students do not have money for thermal lock. Them to use glue gun and you can melt your glue gun down and it works well for setting pendants too. To remove the pendant I have a heat gun that I bought on Amazon Amazon for $10. And the heat gun gets hot enough to wear. You can remove your pendant from either thermal or using glue gun material. Oh my god the glue gun! I never thought about it, that is so clever ❤️, i used to do all sorts of stuff to try to set the stone, when i was still beginner, but never thought of using the glue gun, brilliant! Try annealing before bending your silver and it will bend very easly

Good on you! I understand that you are working around your tremors doing small work. Making pretty jewelry is so satisfying. Kyanite is also one of my favorites. The older I get the more challenges I have with my fingers doing small work, but I think it helps continuing on. Frustrations are normal, but for me silversmithing is something I don’t want to give up. Thank you for sharing your videos.

It's even more satisfying once I'm done with the piece because I know how much struggle went into it and was still able to craft something pretty. ☺️😊

There is so much stress in the world, and even though art can have its moments where you want to swear when things don’t go the way you wish there is such sense of adventure to it all. Pretty is the outcome but it’s the time in between when it’s not in it’s ‘pretty’ form and you see it through that gives pretty it’s meaning Thank you again for sharing

Hello again, Vanessa, I think both your pendants turned out very pretty. You said that there was too much metal and you had to fold it over. Just to give you a little bit of advice if you find that the metal is going to fold over, you can lightly file on the top side of the bezel without hitting your gemstone to remove the extra metal so it will not fold over. I hope this makes sense. if you have a Instagram which I will check and see, I will send you a message. From my Instagram Instagram page. I have not started a KZbin channel. Because I have taken off one year for bereavement. I am a brand ambassador for a couple of big jewelry businesses in the United States. Lovely! Thanx for the advice ❤️, in this particular one I couldn't really file on top, because i wanted to keep the shine and shimmer from the gallery wire, but next time i will make sure to file more on the bottom where the plate is soldered on.. i feel i learn everytime something new, it's fun 😀.
