Since Lois killed a woman who resembled her and then assumed her identity, I doubt it was due to psychosis, and more due to greed and a gambling addiction. I think option #3 was spot on.

It is incredible that a person says to someone "if anything happens to me look at my wife"!! WHY would you continue to live with someone, if you cannot trust them and believe they COULD and MIGHT kill you??? This should be a wake up call that you need to move out!! I have heard this statement mentioned many times in murder trials and wondered why the person (who is obviously dead now, did not move out). It baffles me, that a person would continue living with their soon to be killer!!

This is a good example of just how devoid of logic and self preservation a victim of abuse becomes. The damage isnt only physical. It often ends up psychologically manipulating the victim into appearing to the outside world. Just as crazy and delusional as their abuser describes them as, when deflecting responsibility or using the "you made me do this" defense.

Thanks so much for delving into the waxworm tangent. One of my favorite things about doing research is going down rabbit holes (my bosses, not so much). Why don't people leave or report spouses or friends who they suspect are going to do harm? How many times have we heard, "If I disappear/die so-and-so did it"? And honestly, why would you tell a woman who has proven herself to be seriously unbalanced to "do it right this time"?! Another winner 🏆

Her gambling played a huge part in this. I think more so than some psychosis theory, which really hasn't been proven. Gambling is an addiction and addicts will often do what seems like psychotic behavior, but it is only the drive to keep gambling. So many of her actions before and after the murders centered around the availability to gamble. In fact all of them pointed to her ability to continue to gamble! The addiction was so strong that she was willing to kill for it. I feel Dr Grande should have addressed the gambling more than the alluded to, but not concretely proven, mental health issues. Because someone is addicted to gambling does not necessarily mean they have severe mental health problems.

There's no way Dave handed the woman he was afraid of a loaded pistol. This was obviously Lois's pitiful attempt to gain sympathy. Addiction doesn't make someone a murderer. It's a stressor and it can be the trigger for already bad people to do bad things. The primary cause here was Lois's lack of empathy and I'm glad your analysis aligns with this because too many people are prepared to blame addiction for violent behaviour. I've known many addicts who, though far from perfect, owned their addiction and their suffering and maintained an ethical line past which they wouldn't go.

I used to raise rabbits for 4-H and as a side job I also raised worms that ate their waste. Quite a system. I made more from the worms than I ever did from the rabbits.

Other addictions are bad too...drugs or alcohol, but it's up to the addicts to search out the help & stop, as there are plenty of places that help. Our country is full of vices, bad habits, mental issues unfortunately.

Thanks for the presentation and analysis. I'm definitely going with number 1.. Gambling addiction is a very powerful drug. I am disturbed about this one more than the others. Her husband really made the American dream come true. Wax worms. Brilliant! Good man !! I can't help wanting to wish her the worst that life has to offer. Sympathy for the murdered lady too.

I am disturbed about this one too. What kind of "pain" did she have that made her murder 2 people? Look at all the abused wives that endure beatings and verbal abuse and all they try to do is leave and their crazy husbands stalk them and try to kill them. This murderous grandma had an easy life, she was just selfish and greedy and used the idea of mental pain to justify her crimes.
