I've been doing some maths on this one, because I was curious. Smithers said she'd been there for 75 hours. A rough timing on the clip shows she was pulling the lever on that bandit every two seconds. 75 hours is 270,000 seconds and, assuming she kept up that rate, that is 135,000 turns on the machine. Each turn costs a quarter, so she spent $33,750 in that time. And she only won sixty dollars. Gambling is a mugs game.
@JanAside4 жыл бұрын
Where'd she get that much money
@thomasb.56434 жыл бұрын
Well, since you win back some of the money, you don't actually spend $33,750, you need to take into account the difference between losses and winings. Tipically the slot machines have a return between 90 and 95% for 1 dollar. At the end it's quite impressive that she even won sixty dollars, with such an amount of turns it'd be almost a given that she'd be down by thousands of dollars.

1:45 when Homer tosses the shotgun it goes off accidentally. That little joke has GOT to be a John Swartzwelder gag...the early episodes that he wrote are classics, and definitely my favorites, by far.
@johnmccarthy413410 ай бұрын
Swartzwelder was a great writer… but he didn’t write this one. It was written by Greg Daniels who developed the American version The Office and also co created King of the Hill with Mike Judge. So of course, a guy who helped make great shows was talented enough to write episodes like these. Other episodes that Greg Daniels wrote were Bart Sells His Soul , Homer Badman and also THOH horror segments Devil and Homer Simpson and Time and Punishing.

Fast Forward Videos I don't see any shot showing something else. Perhaps you're seeing the close up shot of the door with a wrong perspective? Also, think about it - how does Marge open the door so easily if it's to the inside? Knowing the Simpsons' writers, they wouldn't gloss over such a detail, definitely when there's a low hanging practical joke they can insert
@ButThatsMuhFreeduhm7 жыл бұрын
I think the door opening to the inside is only for visual effects. That joke with the barricade is intended, the chairs etc, are falling outside of the room. The door opening inside is the mistake.
