Those last two bosses were a nightmare for me as a kid. They were unbelievably hard. I figured out patterns to beat them and painted them on sheets of paper when I was 5 years old.

Not that hard in this particular game. The passwords have 4 symbol slots and 4 different symbols to fill them (candle, heart, orb and blank) so we're talking about 256 different combinations. A trial and error until you get a valid password is probably faster than playing the actual game lol

Being born in 1997, I'm proud to say I partially got to experience the 90's and play games like this and donkey kong 64 that couldn't have happened without having two 90's brothers. :D (1990 and 1986 birthdates)

Ah Cloud Castle & the 'Praying Hands' BGM. I'd reset the game simply to listen to it over and over before I found out about how to access the BGM list. And I always loved this version of 'Final Steps', with all the kneeling skeletons that are holding scythes in the background. For it's day, that was amazingly intimidating. You can also see glimmers of where other games since then (From Software's line-up) have very obviously done similar stuff. Pity though that Dracula is a pushover in this.

That game creeped me out when I was a kid ! :-D (I was born in 1983, so I probably was about 10 at that time) I remember I wanted to buy Game Boy "Looney Tunes" with my pocket money. My dad took me to the shop and there were discounted games. So he was like "Look, you can have two games for the price of the one you want" and before I could even say something, he picked two games at random, Castlevania 2 and Pang. I liked Pang but I told him Castlevania creeped me out and that I would have much preferred Looney Tunes. He hated video games but he played that game and pretended to enjoy it just to have the last word, haha. I loved the music though.

This is the thing I don't understand. So many people still prefer this style of gaming, including myself, and yet game producers only cater to the new-gen crowd. Now, I'm not disrespecting the HD games we see today, and I find myself enjoying those as well. But seeing as the old school 2D platforms and rpg games are still appreciated by a large group, it'd be nice if these were ported for easier access. Since that's probably a no, at least we have emu's to play these.

@ThisIsEvilman8 жыл бұрын
Hmm, to me it's as good as Simon's Quest, but i'd not put it just under CV III for 8-bit CVN. CV3 > CV > CV2 = CVII: BR >> CV Adventure. Simon's quest is great, i don't understand the hate some players have against it, only problem (and it's a big one) is the awful translation, the game is also quite easy on the action but Belmont's Revenge is quite friendly too. Adventure had some great things, but the slowdowns ruins everything... It had a much better soundtrack than this one too. :D
@VladNorris8 жыл бұрын
***** I disagree, Simon's Quest IS crap. The game design is AWFUL even without the cryptic translation and clues(awkward jumps are EVERYWHERE, enemy placement and distribution are horrible, the structure make it a very grindy experience and the fact it needs a patch to make stuff like the night/day transition less annoying says A LOT about how poorly some design choices are. It's a perfect example of why oddballs are often looked down upon. The different approach CAN not work.) And Belmont's Revenge may be friendlier than other Castlevania games but is by no means barren nor lacking challenge compared to Simon's Quest boring hallways with a few skeletons.
@LawmanIL8 жыл бұрын
My biggest beef with Simon's Quest is that it isn't finished.
