It was funny that I ran IDI engines for years and the only issues that I had with the plastic caps was faulty installation techniques if you look in your owner's manual it gives you a specific link to cut the hoses and if you cut the hoses to the correct link you won't have leakage issues the leakage occurs with the O-rings unless it's a million-year-old truck in the lines just rotted

Man, just bought a new kit from classic diesel. I wish I had of seen this video beforehand. I'll definitely keep these in mind for the next changeout.

There was someone making stamped stainless return caps a number of years ago, I put them on a and F250 I had bought back around 2002 or so. They worked great but a few of them cracked from the vibration over time. They were a bit pricey though, close to $80 for a full set with the hose and spring clamps. (One of the local diesel shops that rebuilt injection pumps sold them). With brass, in that thicker stock, the fittings could also be threaded eliminating the solder or brazing. In reality though, a fresh set of later style plastic caps work fine for a long time. More often than not back when those engines were more common the issue was split hoses or hardened orings that broke the cap when you removed it. I kept a bag of O rings and a few extra caps in my glove box for all of my IDI trucks. I also left all of mine bone stock.

Very Nice been waiting for this for a longtime glad you messaged me to let me know you were close to ready to go I might be able to send you over some CAD designs I built and designed for other stuff you might find very intriguing and very much a upgrade over stock I also got a few other turbo up pipe designs and cross over that allow for other turbo uses like HX40 and such along with the piping designs for returns and feeds and such along with bypass filtration / oil cooler setups pretty much usable stuff off the shelf from Napa and such outside of the plumbing itself

@@dregsdiesel I meant to say this with these 6.9 and 7.3 idi's you cant beat theyre reliability and simplicity yeah theyre a bit under powered but you can remedy that and still keep the reliability look into type4's torgue cam it was originally designed for loggers and really livens these motors up down low the R&D idi cam tends to be higher in the RPM range and for towing you want it down low and a perk with the type4 cam is it has a really wide power range.

These will not work if ur using WVO, anything that's brass, copper and galvanized will deteriorate and eventually clog internally , ask me how i know this lol.

So what’s the game changer with it, besides looking good and you have more room for clamp? Does it help mpg, will it run better, is it more fuel efficient, who cares if they last a lifetime. For almost 300 the OEM caps are pennies. What’s the game changer? Why buy this product? If they were a fraction of the price he’ll yeah, but if it makes no difference in efficiency than why bother? They look cool and that’s awesome, but you got to come up with a better selling point than last a lifetime.
