I used to have a 917.3 IDI 5 speed and I cut off the stock muffler and put a dynamax on and from that a oversized tailpipe all in the same stock places, cut out the intake baffles, and the truck had so much more power.

@@worthshopthat applies well to a diesel with a turbo but a naturally aspirated diesel needs a little bit of back pressure on exhaust.

@Mikael5732 Back pressure is a myth in my opinion. Every idi I've owned I straight piped or put bigger exhaust and it was better.. Would like to hear a true explanation of how back pressure can possibly be good.

With a naturally aspirated it's not so much the back pressure it's the exhaust pulling itself through the pipe creating better scavenging, if the exhaust is proper for the engine.

Hey man great vid. Can't wait to see the race truck! Question tho: what about us guys with a turbo? If I need new caps Russ Repair is the only one I know of that makes a cap for cylinder 7.

If you can reuse the caps you already have, go for it. If not and you have the old style caps with centered nipples they still make the single nipple ones. If you have the late style caps with offset nipples, I would just cap the side nipple on #7

I have an IDI that I took all the banks kit off of and since I don't want to turbo it again I wanted to get some exhaust flanges made and make a custom tube exhaust that goes through the hood.

Found your channel this am, loving it as I have an old 93 idi rust bucket. It's been a best friend.. question. Sits for 2days or 2 weeks and starts right up. Don't know when or why but say 20% of the time when it's been driven it won't start. Turns and turns building speed but won't turn fast enough to st a rt it. Almost as if it's flooded or starter isn't getting enough power?? I can put a jump box on it to start it?? Resistance with heat? But not all the time just enough that many/most of the time I leave it running. Again I like your relatable approach in your videos.thank you

Sounds like your injection pump is going out. Try dumping cool water over the injection pump when it will not start. If it then starts that is for sure your issue.

Russ has quality products 109% of the time..id rather pay a couple more bucks for peace of mind..most everything is hit or miss and even at 10% fail rate i need to make it where i go as well as not fk with leaks down the road

I do not agree with censorship of people sharing information in Facebook groups, do not agree with Russ deleting comments to create an ecco chamber that only is allowed to recommend his or his friends as sources of parts. That is where russ rubbed me the wrong way is deleting and censorship of my comments. To each there own, if people want to pay double the price for return line kits, go for it. I will continue buying them elsewhere and recommend people do the same.

Does anyone know where I can get a flexplate for my '94 F250 7.3 idi non turbo E4OD? Mine is a cast iron flywheel with a stamped steel flexplate behind it. My flexplate is cracked all the way around the mounting bolt circle.

@@worthshop I see they have 2 stamped steel flexplates available, but they both have ring gears on them. I have a cast iron flywheel that has the ring gear on it, with a stamped flexplate that fits behind it. I don't believe they are interchangeable without using Ford spacer F1TZ-6376-A, another unobtainable part.

@19Vagabond Have you tried searching for a 92 or 93 year. Alot of people with a 94 have trouble searching for parts as a 94 because the parts that come up are a mix of idi and powerstroke. But if you go back to 93 people seem to have better luck searching.
