Next google firmware release will automatically download the latest firmware for both the goggles and vtx if you own a WiFi module. The menu was restructured to allow you to select the target vtx similar to the app. PR 346 includes screenshots and instructions.

i wouldn't recommend auto updates, my goggles had flashing only in the dvr playback that i tracked down to this most recent version, rolled it back two versions and its fixed

i have a Crux 35 with the Freestyle V2. The question is do you really need 1 watt? 200mw works for all situations unless you plan on going miles away or need superman style penetration.

Hey.. so I think I missed something.. I saw the connection to the vtx.. but not to the goggles. Does this $15 device with two plugs plug in to the goggles and update that firmware too? Or is that still the SD card route? I am assuming the benefit of this new device is to avoid the vtx to goggle connection?

For goggles just insert SD card and follow prompts in UI. Cable only needed for vtx. Old way is super easy, save your money on this unnecessary adapter and installing yet another app on your computer.

@@modquad18 It's easy enough, yes, but all the in-and-out on the microSD card is not gonna be good for that slot... This is especially true if you're doing testing and might be flashing more often than just when a new stable release is out.

@@modquad18if you have the WiFi module on the goggles, it’s even easier to- you don’t have to pick up the goggles to look at the screen while the cables are hanging off of it, you can just view it on your phone or computer.

I don't own the USB Programmer, but the .exe opens in wine so there's a chance it will still work in Linux and macos. Otherwise it'll guaranteed work in a virtual machine.

Depends on your VM/Wine. Some VMs (eg WSL) have issues with USB access.

So im confused . can i update the batch 2 gogles that havent been used since 8.6.10 rx 73 va:184 and the oscar are an older looking version website so i dont know where to plug what and cant seem to find even on hdzeros webpage when its working,i dont have the diagram for the VTX (its name etc..: HDZero Freestyle , Model:HDZ3130 Power;DC 12v@1.2a Resolution 1280*720@60fps just tp make sure its the correct VTX im talking about.Any help or direction to a URL would be very much appreceated thank you

You know what would be really game changing? If hdzero integrated that device into their vtx and goggles so you could simply plug USBC into the goggles or vtx directly, literally this is the stupidest most jank way to have to update firmware I have ever seen

Bad idea.... lets keep vtxs slim and small. They chose the correct path. Usb c or micro too delicate and bulky.

This is for updating the firmware on the VTX not the Goggle, that's easy enough to do via the SD card.
