I am fairly new to this and have had my xTool D1 Pro 20W for a about 4 months now and have managed to get some amazing result already. I have been lacking the ability to do much on metals especially Aluminium and Copper and brass as i wanted to engrave for my family's upcoming wedding next 2024. I love what this can do and will look to invest in around early New Year perhaps this as it does all that I need it to do on metals. Love this video as it was very comprehensive and showed the benefits of using this module on some stuff without having to change the laser heads around which can help with continuity of workflow. Well done JT for producing this video and thanks xTool for another amazing product.

Wow! I can remove the rust from all of my tools that the kids and grandkids have left out in the weather. Metal, plastics and more will be within my reach once I get this new module. I've been able to cut and engrave just about everything else. I hope that I am lucky enough to win one of these. I am retired on a fixed income from Social Security and VA disability which makes every one of these purchases an event. Maybe they would let me do a video when I get it. :) I really love the D1 Pro and RA2 Pro roller/chucked unit which let me expand my engraving capabilities. Xtool keeps raising the bar on these smaller laser machines that are actually affordable and way more solid than the other brands. The thought and great engineering put into every one of their products is impressive.

Seems to be a fibre laser packaged in the same format as diodes. It seems to send pulses (if you zoomed in a bit without waving the sample around so much we might be able to see it). Wavelength is right too. No mention of “diode” in the description.

do you have any recommended settings so I can test on different materials with this laser? Im new to lasering and would like to know what you think
@JTMakesIt2 жыл бұрын
You really need to try to test various settings. Start with medium speed (1500mm/min) and medium power. If not engraved deep enough, increase power or decrease speed. Try different scenarios ( low/high speed combined with various power levels) and see what produces best results. My setting in this video are far from ideal. You need to do a lot of testing to find the best settings for a given material.

I have a Sculpfun S9, but this unit is just a step above, at least for the kind of work I need to do. I saw an xTool review on Robert Murray Smith's channel about the latest xTool laser (blue). He didn't even talk about the laser module, he was talking about how impressed he was with the build quality from xTool. And I really respect his opinion, he is an accomplished chemical engineer and scientist. Seeing *this* video, however, takes xTool as a company to the next level. And it's the first time I have seen a video from this channel, but I like how he makes honest, matter-of-fact comparisons. He shows what works and what does't work. Nice!

@Doug Taylor I am looking to invest in my first laser. The largest work area possible is important to me as well as being able to cut/engrave wood and clear acrylic. I was thinking of getting the D1 Pro with extended frame, infrared module, enclosure, etc... (basically all the bells and whistles for about $3K. But since you own both the D1 Pro and a 60W... I'd like your opinion. Which route should I go?
@MrDogass12 жыл бұрын
@@arbella89 Great question. A diode laser is not the best for efficient production. It's a great supplement. For your first laser I recommend looking at Thunder laser for a CO2 model that fits your budget and needs. The D1 Pro is a slow and limited cutter.
