Back in the day if you're sacrificng two monsters, you're going for blue eyes, and otherwise why would you sacrifice two monsters for something with the same attack as summoned skull, which can be summoned for only 1 sacrifice

Nerfs can exist in PvE for good reason, but they shouldn't be for the same reason as PvP. In PvP nerfs should help keep the game feel fair for everyone. In PvE, nerfs should help the game feel interesting and fun, making sure the player has real decisions to make. If one strategy is so much better than everything else that it becomes kinda silly to do anything else, that's still bad game design, even in PvE. You need to give players interesting choices, which means still having some sort of balance. You still generally don't want to do too many nerfs in PvE though, and disabling an item without even telling the player it doesn't work is not the way to go about it.

Does it make the game cheapily easy? Yeah. It is bad game design? Yeah. Could it get nerfed and still be strong? Probably. SHOULD it get nerfed? Not really. I hate elytra, and don't use it. Do the same with this, allow it and let players use it in their first tower. After it they notice it was too easy, and try to have fun by playing differently. Players *WILL* optimize fun no matter what. If you just make it easier for people who just want to optimize their fun, it will literally change nothing.

Keep in mind, it's faster than Garchomp with comparable offense but specially geared rather than physical. The main issue is that its abilities are terrible and don't enhance its stat line at all, combined with also having a terribly shallow movepool.

Soul Dew was allowed in Ubers before the nerfs, meaning the Latis had an easier time around since they were also there in the beginning. In gen 3 they were both quite solid in Ubers, but even when they dropped to OU in gen 4 for Latias and gen 5 for Latios they still made great use of the items they had at their disposal

What they don't deserve is to get replaced because of crybaby non caring competitive players who give not a care in the world or rarely a care about the series itself and more care about their own battles over anything else they shouldn't have a problem if their showdowns was a specific made version just for their maximum pleasure although the issue is getting people on that showdown it would have to become a extra mode like UUbers. Pokemon has that be it's fun and yes they nerf sometimes but other times they are downright wrong in the way they go about it or how they went about it. Smeargle shouldn't have lost Dark void or any possible move I think metronome and smeargle being limited is dumb but maybe they could have made a cost or... slowed down smeargle and removed moody as one of it's abilities.

I brought a Latios to the Battle Tower in Diamond, holding the Soul Dew. The game lets you bring it...but it disables the item. I'm sure there are some games that don't let you use the item in their battle facility, but there are at least a few games that let you bring it anyways, then pull a fast one on you.

In fairness, the reason its banned in single player modes is because it puts Latios and Latias on the same level as other legendaries- which are also banned in those modes. The NPCs in those modes don’t use legendary Pokemon, so its a way to keep it relatively balanced.

If you want a mixed Lati, Mega is the way to go. true, and even that didn't work. Even post the twins getting megas, competitive teams still use dew. Because sometimes you want to use a different mega, but a latios/latias that comes with a free calm mind doesn't sound too bad. Also it weird he straight up lies in the video and says it was banned in all competitive tournaments, because thats just not true. It was used at the time, and is used to this date in gens 3-7 (can't speak to 8+ because I don't play those games competitively )

To make matters worse, because of a glitch in Gen 3, Latios and Latias are practically useless in their debut generation because they always have 0 IVs in Defense, Special Attack, Soecial Defense, and Speed, as well as a maximum Attack IV of 7. Fortunately, this glitch doesn't affect the HP IV.

I'm not sure if the Latios movie came out before or after the games, but the soul dew was an important item in the movie. So I'm guessing they made it busted as an homage to the film, but didn't want it messing up the rest of the game's competitive balance.
