That slower ball to Marsh ignited my imagination, and now whenever there's a tense battle and India are unable to dislodge a batsman, I feel that Bumrah should bowl any sort of slower ball. So when the offcutter happened I was just ecstatic
@piyushyadav90063 жыл бұрын
This has to be the ball of century. It's not just slow off-cutter, but everything about it was a masterclass in itself. Last over of Bumrah's spell. Pitch wasn't helping. He thinks of a plan. He knows the urgency of a wicket. Bowls a bouncer round the wicket. Wasted a delivery. Batsmen is afraid now. Should have gone with reliable bumrah yorker, but he's expecting a yorker too. So Bumrah bowled a masterpiece , a slow off-cutter executed to perfection and bamboozled a well set batsmen, who's just trying to defend , with an old ball, and LBW from round the wicket. Just amazing.

That Shaun Marsh is my favorite test wicket for a long time.. nothing can beat it.. he fooled the batsman and bought a wicket out of nowhere just before lunch break.. When you progress from level to level in cricket, like from playing in the streets to playing for your class in school to playing for the main team etc, the margins get tighter and the shit that worked in a lower level rarely ever works in the next. Now apply that logic to internationals. What Bumrah has done here in a game of tiny margins for any decisions on the field is just magic and I wouldn't know how to explain this to someone who has never played the game. The odds of it working relied on him being perfect with his plan and hoping for the best and it just worked. That might as well be magic to us casual viewers and I cannot believe that we have been blessed with the opportunity to watch such a talent. Hope he plays cricket in front of a camera as long as possible.

@ykishore43403 жыл бұрын
@@dnd611 I disagree. I have been watching Bumrah keenly for 3 years. His stock ball hovers around 139-141 kph. Occasionally, he slips in a 144 kph delivery. But he can't bowl 3 or more consecutive balls at that speed. Genuine quickies, on the other hand, routinely bowls at 145+ kph. It comes to them naturally.
@dnd6113 жыл бұрын
@@ykishore4340 I agree that he is not speed demon but certainly can qualify as a genuine fast bowler. Very well done analysis, it is cricketing brain all the way, just superb animation as well. One thing interesting which you can mention here is that the UMPIRE thought that is NOT OUT, so if I remember right it was given NOT OUT probably because UMPIRE thought a Right Arm Seam Bowler bowling ROUND THE WICKET to a RIGHT HAND BATSMAN would have pitched that outside LEG STUMP but the SKILL of Bumrah meant it was pitched in line. Also Kohli took the review almost on instinct and it was given OUT on REVIEW. Even if pitched in line not many would think it would hit the stumps for the NATURAL ANGLE would take it past off-stump but BUMRAH bowled it in such a way that it not only PITCHED IN LINE, it was going to HIT the STUMPS and it was a SLOW OFF CUTTER and was a LENGTH BALL [not FULLER in LENGTH] for even if BUMRAH had bowled a SLOW YORKER probably Robinson would have kept it out for he was expecting the YORKER.

This video perfectly encapsulates what JJ Bumrah really is. He's a thinking bowler. I think Bumrah has begun the reinvention of bowling/bowlers' role. Also, to add to your point about White Ball skills being transferred into red ball cricket, a huge part of the credit must go to the major leagues, you no longer work with a local coach, you work with experts from around the world by the time you even hit the international scene. You DO NOT want to miss out on a fat cheque of that a season brings you so you get that butt of yours more regularly in the gym, going injury free and hurling balls at a toe crushing pace. Also, I never quite understood why RFB dont bowl from around the wicket. It's seen as a defensive option. Like you mentioned, it is an angle waiting to be explored. For one, I think Deepak Chahar should try it out. He's great with his lengths most of the time and working on the line from around could probably give him an extra weapon.
