Shakib is an insane raw talent. I remember a series against Sri Lanka. He came back from Dubai & USA with total 36 hrs of journey. He didn’t even net practice or anything. He went straight to the stadium and scored a fifty & took 5 wickets. Where his team mates had been practicing for a week ahead and couldn’t perform well

The only reason he was the best in Bangladesh’s history is because of his survivor mentality. Cause cricket in bangladesh is more politics than cricket itself.

Your main theory in itself took a toll Jerrord. India were beaten by team whose spinners on an avge were slower in pace then their Indian counterparts. 😑
@DoorasharavaaArya13 сағат бұрын
To beat Australia any team has to do the same as what they has to do in India (in different context in conditions). 1) To beat Australia in Australia you need batter who can spend time in middle and adjust to bounce. In short ready to take some body blow and get up again. Now if you compare this to India where one has to take certain calculated risks as pitches (assuming raging turners) are quite different than Australia where you are provided with true bounce (no uneven ups and downs on day one). So simple tips for batters, bat well and bat long. Even if you look at history in this century there are 3 teams which were able to beat Australia in Australia in a series. They are England, South Africa and India (twice). Now if someone looks at the pattern you can clearly see that in all those teams they had batters who can bat deep. Even NZ came close to replicate an upset in Australia in 2015 (batting wise) and had they were also potent with ball who knew they might would have won. 2) Better fast bowlers, by fast bowlers I mean real good ones who can clock 140+ all day long and are also good with their planning. In 2010-11 Ashes Tremlet, Broad etc were the cheif tormenter, in 2012 Steyn, Morkel etc were and in 2018-19 Bumrah, Shami and Ishant's trio. 3) Patience: Australia can be graveyards for ones who try to impose themselves so much (blindly I say). At the same time if you are looking for survival just, you are putting yourself in danger again. So its better to have a mixture of attack and defence as according to situation. Apart from that, at times you need to be patient in terms of your planning while you are bowling. Many new bolwers gets so excited after landing in Australia by seeing bounce off the surface, that they get carried away by it and pitch either too short or too full only to be driven down by players like Warner, Smith, Head etc. Its important to pick your spots as bowles and keep bowling there and let pitch assist you. Also for fielders its important to maintain concentration considering unlike many countries cricket in Australia is played in scorching heat and big ampetheatre like stadiums, where its quite easy to lose yourself and lose your concentration and put down catches. Its very much important for opposition bowlers to make that new Kookabura cherry talk, otherwise their team will succumb to mountain of runs.

Re. whether to take Anderson or Broad, Anderson had a better average in Broad in every tour of Australia they both played in except 2013/2014: 2010/ 2011 - Anderson Ave 26.0, Broad Average 80.5 2013/ 2014 - Anderson Ave 43.9, Broad Average 27.5 2017/ 2018 - Anderson Ave 27.8, Broad Average 47.7 2021/ 2022 - Anderson Ave 23.3, Broad Average 26.3 Even once you factor in Anderson's crap series from before he'd figured out how to bowl in Australia (or anywhere abroad, really) in 2006/2007 where he averaged 80+, he averages the same as Broad - 34.0 to Broad's 34.2. It is interesting to me that 2021-2022 was the only tour where they both clicked and averaged in the 20s on the same tour (possibly helped by a rest and rotation policy that meant they only played three tests each each where on previous tours they played all tests unless injured?)

I'll be very disappointed but not that surprised if Hasaranga goes unsold. Overseas spinners do have a tough time of it. His 2022 season was incredible despite the fact that RCB misused him. He's arguably the best wrist-spinner in the world at the moment. However his fitness is a genuine concern.

I think Harshal should be a lot higher on the list. He took a ton of wickets last season and an Indian death bowler is always a highly sought after role. Starc will probably go for the highest among pace bowlers just due to his name.

Last year Punjab had great bowlers but those bowlers were essentially stopping each other from bowling at their best phase. Curran and Arshdeep best suited for new ball swing and yorkers at death. Harshal and Ellis for middle and death overs slower variations. Chahar and Livingstone suited to bowl in 7-15 overs against right handers. Rabada's bad years coinciding with other bowlers added to Punjab's under-performance. I hope PBKS uses the RTM wisely and not pick too many bowlers for the same role. Use the extra money to invest on stronger batting lineup.

I wish a team had a plan with these defensive bowlers. I used to be one, and my old captain would ask me to go for like 6-7 runs and build pressure. Imagine Akeel Hosei with a Mukesh Kumar. It would probably work.

I think you may be wrong about Zampa, precisely for the reasons you mentioned, i wouldn’t be surprised if a team like MI picked him up as they already have their indian batters sorted, so getting a world class spinner for cheap, even if he is overseas, could fix the issues thy have been having in the spin department

My concern for India would be the lack of Shami and that Siraj was instrumental for them last time and he, like some of the Aussie bowlers, has seemed off-colour for a while. Although he may just prosper again because the conditions in Australia probably suit him better than the ones in India.

It’s not rocket science. Talk seamers get more bounce and pace off the wicket in Australia cause the wickets are harder there. This has been known for decades
