Gentrification is about PRETENDING to help then raise the prices of everything so high that the original inhabitants can't afford to live there Anymore. Years ago, my neighborhood was nice, rents fairly low. Then Ames and Kmart were closed. They replaced them with Home Depot and Bed, Bath & Beyond. Then one by one, the Starbucks showed up. We have FOUR of them within a two block radius. Then came The Noodle Company and all the other mayonnaise businesses. Rents went up 40%. An apartment that was $900 became $1,400. Then more. Now the same apartment BEGINS at $1,700. My neighbors were Black and Latino with a few Muslims, too (all wonderful, helpful people). Now we have rude ass whites with dog shit all over the property. Gentrification is horrible.

I never heard about her until the HBO show. BET needs to learn how to market(commercial)there new shows on other tv channels, Amazon, KZbin, ads on apps. I truly feel who every is truly over BET is trying to make it fail. The shows that BET does have comes on late instead rerunning throughout the day. Instead of old reruns all day. Even Oprah channel OWN realize that method won’t work so she made her own shows and now have a few on Netflix’s and stuff.

This is so on the nose accurate. Where I live was based on your income. It's in a decent area that is mostly retired old people and low income families. The property has a new owner. I've noticed that since Donald drumf started giving the rich tax cuts, they've been buying up low income property in my area. They've slapped wood trimming over the roofs, to cover up the mold, then painted the buildings. It like putting a band-aid on a bullet hole. They're only renovating the empty apartments, but they've hiked up the rent for all apartments to a ridiculous amount. When I told the lease office that they're price gauging to drive the present residence out, the office girl said it was the competitor's prices of other apartments in the area. They want to push us into slums that they have denied any state or government upgrades from. We know what's up, because they're trying to make history repeat itself.
@minicat36405 жыл бұрын
The exact same thing is happening in my neighborhood. 2 years ago my apartment was 790 and now they want 1150 with no changes except painting natural brick buildings grey. I hate these people that just want MONEY and don't care if they are ruining peoples lives. The saddest part is this IS the slums. These buildings are from the 1950's and are the cheapest places in my area, shootings outside and monthly raids from the DEA. Everyone in my building is sharing food and helping each other to pay rent because no one can afford it. Unless we move far away from our jobs or put multiple families in a 1 bed unit we can't afford to live.

With gentrification and ownership power.... taking into account the “there’s no money” factory just addressed.... how would those who took/take ownership of their lands/businesses then deal with taxes? That’s another power of gentrification, where things are overpriced, especially property taxes, and ple are forced/closed out.
