Varys has no interest in showing affection or being emotionally attached with anyone because he understands that it would make him vulnerable. Being attached to someone would put him in a situation to be manipulated and steer him away from his intentions. He always tries to show allegiance to those for the betterment of the people. He was never intimate with anyone before his castration. He is an introvert, independent and very insightful. Varys puts his talents to work for the goal of serving the regular people of the realm. He is a visionary and tries to find a new way to look at things. He is a true believer and believes that he's doing the right thing.

Ilyn Payne wasn't necessarily a bad dude. He was just a quiet scary dude. With a very unfortunate job. Stannis' interactions in the books with Jon are actually quite humorous: Melisandre: I shall show Lord Snow back to his quarters. Stannis: Why? He knows the way. ... Melisandre: The King is quite fond of you. Jon: Yes he only threatened to have me executed twice. Melisandre: It is his silences you should fear not his rouths. ... Or Stannis' Wife: Husband I beg you listen to Lady Melisandre. Stannis: Why? Ser Davos is right 2 is not 3, Kings can count as well as Smugglers.

Illyn the mute executioner, is distant cousins to Podrick. Illyn is from the main branch of Payne's while Pod is from a minor branch. I guess you don’t understand that those were 2 different situations. Jon being commander at the wall means disobeying an order for him means death. Being at the wall is not the same as being apart of an actual city’s population with politics invoked where you have to be more flexible. If Jon had let someone disobey his order fresh off of him being elected then no one would respect him in the nights watch. I think Dany did the right thing executing that guy tho, she was in a much tougher situation and when I originally watched the show that was the moment where I said she just shouldn’t be over here and should desert these people

completely different situations, though. Dani fucked up by punishing a devoted follower for his act of devotion, thereby alienating those who were devoted to her. @@taxicorky What Dany did is more akin to what Robb did, a devoted follower (who were both leaders for the majority of their most popular/loyal followers) committing a murderous act against their captive. It was wrong for Robb to do it then, it's bad for Dany to do it now. Also: both situations have (spoiler) similar outcomes of regret and unfortunate circumstances following from that action. Dany and Robb both had the OPTION of imprisonment rather than the sword, they chose the least respectable option to their followers. What Jon did was more akin to what Ned did in the beginning of the show, a murderous act of a disobedient oath breaker. I didn't like what they did, but the consequences are far less reaching than what Robb and Dany did. Also the followers of their respective parties (the Night's Watch and Winterfell) understand and abide by the consequences given. Jon and Ned seemingly HAD to fulfill the consequence of them breaking their oath. @pearljammies put it perfectly, and I've provided additional context to WHY these decisions are NOT the same. The only similarity is the execution, (not to sound too semantic) but the context of why one was necessary and the other was not

Margaery, is playing the game (OF THRONES) well, Tommen is not a "kid" right now, in G.R.R.M's universe, he is THE KING, and it is very logical and strategic for her to try manipulate Tommen to get rid of Cersei, who IS her (and most people's) opposition. Come on yo, just let go and really get into the GoT universe and debate within the realities of THAT world, not ours.
