eddiewinehosen i dont think you understand how great of an archer ramsay is, When they killed Tandy she was zig zagging through a whole ass forest and they managed to shoot an arrow through her calf to immobilize her, he is one of the Best archers around, Rickon was dead either way.

Yea and god only knows what Ramsey did to him psychologically while he had him. If we didn’t see how he broke down Theon and we just saw Theon act to his disadvantage, we wouldn’t understand why he behaved like that either. So idk to me it was believable that this unfortunate lack in judgement might happen with that kid :( it was set up that way on purpose.

Jon was driven by rage (exactly as Ramsay wanted) when his brother was killed. Even Tormond was saying "don't do it"... and when Jon realized his mistake, you could see it on his face... and then what could he do but face his enemy like a Stark.

@blahblahooooooooblah
@blahblahooooooooblah 8 жыл бұрын
That's the same thing I was thinking. Also, Jon may not have trusted Littlefinger - Bearish himself has told people not to trust him -- that was one of Eddard's mistakes. Of course, I'm glad she did it, and she probably really didn't have a choice considering if she lost, she wasn't going to be taken alive. But Littlefinger's assistance may come with strings attached - if she had of told Jon he probably would have been against the Vale joining in - as a big brother he wouldn't have trusted Baelish's agenda towards Sansa. Perhaps. Either way, I'm glad she did it because they were almost goners!
@blahblahooooooooblah
@blahblahooooooooblah 8 жыл бұрын
***** She smiled for the same reason all of us smiled - Ramsay got his comeuppance! If anyone would appreciate the gravity of that, it would Sansa and Theon. LF will never deliver Sansa to Cersei especially considering the position the Lannister are in right now, it just isn't smart strategically to side with the falling House - and the Lannisters and definitely falling. I agree that Sansa has developed from the person she once was (that can be said for all of the characters that are still alive from Season 1 with the shit they've seen and experienced) but I wouldn't necessarily say that brutality is her best friend now. Ramsay needed to die, that's just a fact - his death was deserving. It's too soon to even say whether or not she is "brutal" though. I do agree with your take on LF though - his titles do seem to breed more titles lol. I don't think he'll live out the series though.

Eric and Melanie, please, and one book lover to the next, can you please clarify that Jon wanted (in the books) to battle Ramsay because he thought Arya was there? The show has stripped Jon and Arya's relationship to the bone, so there is hardly anything left; it's so important to Jon's storyline that it was Arya he was going to save. He was tested three times in his vows: the first for his father, the second for Robb - he held off both those times, and stayed true to the Night's Watch. But he broke his vows for Arya specifically because of how much he loves her.

A lot of people are frustrated that Rickon didn`t zigzag, but: 1. He is a kid who is desperate and afraid. He knew now who Ramsay was and what he can do. A lot of people who are afraid and in desperate situations, can make irrational decisions and they will do anything to survive and get away from danger. He saw Jon, he wanted to get to Jon as fast as he could, and ran right for him. 2. Ramsay was damn good with that bow. He had experience in hunting both humans and animals, so he would probably have hit him anyway. 3. This is tv..:-) There`s dragons and magic and white walkers. Not everything is going to be true to life:-) Anyway..great reaction-video as always, love you guys!:-) Incredible episode!

+sven svensson Think about all the girls he hunted with his hounds. I'm sure at least one of them zigged or zagged. Plus, why would it be so hard to hit him while he was trying to evade? Archers, especially experts like Ramsay, would have experience with targets trying to evade them. Rickon did the right thing, trying to get to Jon and out of range.

There's a little particular that nobody noticed. It's irrelevant, but I find it quite smart: Tormund's full name is Tormund Giantsbane and the man who he kills with in that hand-to-hand is SmallJon Umber, whose family banner is the giant who breaks the chains. Now I don't know if it's occasional or not, but that still was smart!

The reason why Sansa didn't tell Jon about Vale and Littlefinger is because he didn't listen to her and she knew what Ramsay would do and that Jon would fall for it. The whole thing with Jon and Rickon was to draw him out. Jon basically abandoned his entire tactic and just went in blindly against superior force...he basically fcked up. Sansa knew this is going to go down like that. She knew Ramsay will kill Rickon no matter what (she told Jon before the battle) and that if Ramsay was faced against superior number he would fortify himself inside Winterfell...so she let Jon fall for Ramsay's trap so she could play her thing and make Ramsay fall for her trap. Sansa won that battle, not Jon.
@GhostInPajamas
@GhostInPajamas 5 жыл бұрын
Final argument for why Rickon didn't zigzag. He's a kid, and when you're running away from someone with a ranged weapon, running straight away gets you as far away as possible, where zigzagging would take twice as long to cover that distance

The part in the episode where Jon is climbing out of the pit of bodies is very symbolic to me. I think that WAS his rebirth where he himself decided that he wanted to live. I suppose he is the one who taught Beric then. It makes sense since the most prominent kind of magic in the series is blood magic.

I'm even more impressed by the fact that it wasn't CGI and was actually Kit standing there with a line of 40 horses racing towards him and just hoping they stopped like they were supposed to. This whole episode was so impressive when it came to the visuals. I loved the wide shots where you see the massive landscapes with the characters small in the distance. Sansa riding away from the meeting before the fight, Davos standing in the sunrise/sunset by the old pyre. It was both beautiful and gruesome.

I suspect that the reason Sansa didn't say anything sooner was because she hadn't actually heard back from Littlefinger yet - just sent her letter. So she wouldn't want Jon to sit around waiting and hoping for an army that might never come (especially given what she said to Littlefinger the last time they spoke). I'm hoping they have a line or two clarifying that next week.

Sansa was right not to tell. She doesn't fully trust Little finger and she she knows her brother is highly emotional. Those two elements alone would make her hesitate giving out her plan B. And if Jon had listened to her about the Bolton trap, then so many men wouldn't have died. Their original battle plan was to draw Ramsey to them so that they could use the trenches. Jon blew the plan and got his men killed by going on the offensive. It is highly probable that Little Finger would have waited until the last minute anyway. How sucky would it have been for Jon to expect Little Finger and be waiting.... only to find out they'd been quasi double crossed. It also matters if she's carrying Bolton's child. If she gives birth to a Bolton, the North might not want her to rule. Yes, the kid's father is dead, but primogeniture is a big deal to these people.

I think the reason why Rickon ddnt run zig zag is because, first; he is a kid and he was terrified and when kids get terrified they are unable to make sensible decisions quickly. he aint Jon or Sansa to think tactically. Anyway Ramsay would have killed him even if he ran zig and zag. Sansa had aptly predicted Rickon demise because he is one of the true born sons of THE Ned Stark.

That Jon drowning in bodies scene was symbolising him being close to experience darkness again when he died the first time, but he rises out of there into the light - so it's like a rebirth for him - especially because before this he's always been in that downer mood.

Just another Baelish plan. Remember what he said to Cersei: "Let the enemies of the Throne slaughter each other and when they're done, seize Winterfell from whichever thief survives." Come on ya'll think about it. It's Baelish being Baelish. Originally he may have thought it would be Roose vs. Stannis - but the plan only slightly turned when it became Ramsay vs. Jon. Either way, he also said "that is why it is critical to strike while the victor still licks his wounds" - the Starks may have just retaken Winterfell/survived the battle, and that's awesome :) :), but they have also lost all of their fighting men - and now almost certainly depend on Littlefinger's "good will" for defense now. Baelish took his sweet time replying to Sansa's letter, and getting to the North because he knew the odds of Jon's army being slaughtered, Ramsey losing many men fighting Jon (so as to not leave a huge army for the Vale to have to put down - thus lowering the risk of his own men dying), and him looking like the savior rushing in with thousands of men. It's all power play. Which is why I kind of think Sansa was holding off on telling Jon she was asking him for the reinforcements - because she didn't know what that would entail.Being beholden or indebted to Littlefinger is the last place anyone wants to be ... just ask Ned Stark lol. Whether or not they know it, LF kind of owns the North now. I don't believe he'll hand Sansa over to Cersei - but if you all think his help came without strings attached - you're fools. He's been doing sneaky shit like this since he told Lysa to poison Jon Arryn, and to write a letter to Catelyn saying it was the Lannisters! A man like Baelish only thrives in chaos, wherever he goes, chaos is sure to follow. I just hope Sansa understands this and is using him to her benefit - and doesn't let him get too much control ( I think she may end up killing him). Lord of Harrenhal, Master of Coin, Lord Paramount of the Trident, Lord Protector of the Eyrie and the Vale of Arryn...and Warden of the North??? "Titles do seem to breed titles." -Baelish himself.

I think Sansa Is basically Lady Stoneheart, she only cares about revenge, she arrived with Littlefinger smiling, even though her little brother had just died and her other brother and the other men who were fighting HER battle had died or where in the midst of dying
@laxxla
@laxxla 8 жыл бұрын
Well, did she KNOW that Rickon was dead at that point? Aside from the fact that she knew it was going to happen one way or another, because... Ramsay. It looked to me like she was smiling at the fact that Jon was still alive. You can see the moment she somehow picks him out and starts to smile as the camera zooms in on her. Yes, she was cold to Ramsay, and his death was as brutal as he deserved, but she showed a lot of forgiveness and compassion towards Theon once her anger cooled, so she's clearly not all about revenge. Also, it wasn't just HER battle. Ramsay and Smalljon would've gone after the Wildlings anyway and slaughtered them all.
@ricardoarredondo2353

Ya know i'm honestly kind of worried how far they're going to take this, at least for Jon. He died last time because he would always do the right thing till the end and puts faith in those around him to do the same. Sansa, ever since they linked up has been lying to him. She has been right about everything but she didn't seem to give a second thought about letting her little brother die. Now that Littlefinger is back in the fold, he obviously wants Winterfell to himself and definitely wants Jon out of the picture. The promos for next week show Sansa struggling with what seems to be a choice between Jon and Littlefinger. I don't think she would intentionally get Jon killed but right now she definitely seems like she might screw him over either intentionally or unintentionally, and Jon would most likely be blindsided by it because of the faith he has in his sister.
@avkingoking
@avkingoking 8 жыл бұрын
I think Sansa and the Vale army would've had to have passed by Rickon's body, the writing of the show doesn't specify a lot of the details though, and by the time she spots Jon her smile is gone, she seems kinda upset when she see's Jon going after Ramsay. And when she was with Theon her life was still in danger, when she made it to castle black her attitude completely changed. And the Wildlings didn't have to fight they could've just ran, Jon still has Stannis's ships so if the Wildlings really wanted to live and didn't care about Jon or his family, they could've just killed him and the Night's watch who they vastly outnumbered and sailed almost anywhere.

I can think of reasons Sansa didn't say anything. First is she wasn't sure. She had asked for help, but received no reply. Maybe they would show, maybe they wouldn't. Baelish isn't exactly reliable. Second is that she's now playing the game, which means keeping secrets. Information is power. She might be okay with Jon having that information, but not everyone else. And it's not like Jon listened to her, anyway. She warned him exactly what Ramsay would do, told Jon exactly what he should not do, told him they needed to let Rickon go, and Jon fell for the trap anyway, almost getting everyone killed (that's not just my interpretation: both the producers and Kit have said that: Jon screwed up and almost lost the battle). Ramsay waited to kill Rickon until Jon was in range of his archers. He then fired again, forcing Jon to charge to avoid the volley, which then forced Jon's army to charge, given up their plan entirely. Jon screwed up. He may have screwed up trying to save his brother, but he still screwed up. Jon is definitely coming at it from a Ned Stark direction: protect the family, maintain its honor; but Ned's direction got himself killed, and saw his family scattered and hunted, which is something Sansa personally, brutally witnessed. Sansa is seeing it from a clinical, realistic direction. There's a bit of Baelish there in her approach to handling difficult situations.

One thing y’all missed is Sansa not willing to look away from Ramsey’s execution is a call back to when Ned executed to deserter and Jon told Bran “don’t look away or father will know if you do.” Remember Sansa doesn’t swing a sword so her executions she has to use other ways. And normally she wouldn’t execute anybody but it was to say that even she has to live by that edict.

Few things about Rickon's run, What I see is those burning flayed men were range indicators for the archers. And Ramsey deliberately missed to force Jon into range for the volley to start the battle. I also think Jon almost let himself die twice. First with the cavalry charge, he looked at them with defeat in his eyes, and then stood for his last stand. And then with the crush, he could have easily just let himself die. But he fought to stay alive. This is Jon's moment, he finally accepted he died, and came back for a reason. And that was to stop the white walkers.

@saxster
@saxster 8 жыл бұрын
Wrong. Arrow arc shots from that range on a zig zag running target take experts to hit. Jon should have forced the zag by angling his own horse and drawing Rickon towards him, even if Rickon is apparently too dumb to dodge, roll, or go prone. It might have looked cool, but it was poorly conceived writing in reality.

Ruslan Ordukhanov It is simply an insane shot, especially since it was a kill shot and not just a maim or wound. It was a heart shot from that range then. The odds of that alone are so small it's crazy. It was a death that was predictable, too, and so it was not smart writing and that might be the worst of it in the end. Saving Rickon would have been a win for the Starks for once, something that has been needed for 6 seasons!

Ramsay only arced the ones he purposefully missed, when he decided to hit the boy he went for a straight shot (arrow was almost parallel to the ground when it pierced him). How far away do you think the boy got from Ramsay? Because if it was less than 100 meters the arrow would literally arrive at his chest at the same time the noise of the bow did. 300 meters and maybe he had a chance of hearing the shot and attempting to dodge, but that would be a 1~2 seconds window. Because of movies and videogames most people underestimate *a lot* the power of bows. Arrows aren't those things that cutely fly up and the camera pans around as they almost stop at the highest point of the parable and slowly make it's way down: it flies at speeds greater than a hundred freaking meters in a second. Plus, zigzagging was a lot more dangerous, since he would be breaking Ramsay's game rules and the bastard could just ask his hundreds of archers to send a volley, from which there would most likely not be any escaping.
