In the books we don't know yet who poison Joffrey. There is this super complex theory that might not be true but if it is Martin is a fucking evil genius. In the books Tyrion gives his own cup to Joffrey and he dies but the argument is that Olenna would not try to poison Joffrey with food of drink because it could be dangerous that Margary takes a bite of Joffrey's food. So the theory is that someone originally wanted Tyrion dead and when Joffrey take's his wine he indirectly saves him. And that someone must likely was Cersei. once again, it must likely not be truth but how tragic would it be if Cersei killed her son in an attempt to kill her brother.

Olenna is the best person to have don it. Narrative-wise. She's the counterpoint to Ned Stark who fumbled his way through King's Landing for which his children suffered the consequences. Olenna is proactive and plans ahead to ensure the best outcome for her grandchildren.

If you're binging this series again, one thing that will stand out is how rapidly Dragonstone's setting improves from Season 2 up to now. It goes from a generic beach and a matte painting of a castle, to dazzling rock formations.

Myrcella's death made no sense whatsoever. Completely counterproductive to House Martell's cause. So the Sand Snakes are not just evil and petty, they're also morons.

fully agree. Marcella was innocent and such a stunning character that we weren't lucky to get to know. And the Dorne storyline sadly always gets put in a corner anyway in the show. We all deserved that revenge.

Jaime already is known for stabbing his king in the back. He got the nickname King Slayer because stabbing someone in the back is considered dishonorable and contrary to what a knight - and more importantly a King's Guard - stands for! Poisoning, at least, gives a certain dignity to the death. If people come in and see the body with stabs and Jaime cleaning his sword? Well... it doesn't bode well for him in the eyes of the soldiers he leads! When this episode came out, Olenna was considered a bad a$$!! Folks made t-shirts that said "I want her to know... I did it!" I think someone even dressed as her for Halloween! Lady Olenna was a BOSS!! LOL!

It baffles me that you are so SPOT ON with reading every characters behavior or frame of mind. Until it comes to that GODAWFUL Sansa. Jon was talking out his ass, and disrespecting the hell out of thousands of dead men from the Battle of the Bastards by telling Tyrion that Sansa is letting on that shes smart. Sansa ISNT smart. Shes just a shiny cat toy for cheap, random, generic girlpower fistpump moments for women who cant see past third wave feminism. And Arya would be the exact same only worse. Except shes ACTUALLY smart. And ACTUALLY tough. And an unmatched badass.

Yeah, i think the writing and direction here were staggering but intentionally so. We start to analyze her differently which is important to the path she continues to go down to the finale. But wooof did I hate experiencing that for the first time
