I still love Thrones. Sure the ending was disappointing, but there were so many characters and so much story - how could they have written a satisfying ending!? One bad season does NOT negate the quality of the series as a whole. That being said, I've been watching Chernobyl live as it airs every Monday and it was the perfect palette cleanser for Season 8 of Thrones.

I went back and watched Season 8 Ep. 5 & 6 again without any expectations or rather accepting "it is what it is" and I liked it much better. It's hard to get past the disappointment of the writers not taking the time to do these characters justice and I feel bad for all of the hard work that went into it behind the scenes. The actors and the behind the scenes folks were spectacular. This will still remain one of my favorite shows of all time despite the let down at the end.

@@ak86db, I agree. IMO, the greatest payoffs in S7 and S8 is the reuniting of all these characters after their respective adventures: All the Stark siblings together, Arya & Sandor, Sansa & Sandor, Jon & Tyrion, Jaime & Tyrion, and so on. They all brought tears to my eyes.

I agree that D&D aren’t necessarily bad writers. They proved in season 6 that they could write a really good season without the book context. They got greedy. They rushed to end this show so they could move on to make more money through the overkill that is Star Wars. In my opinion that is on HBO. They should have taken the show from them when they wouldn’t agree give the show more time and given it to writers who could have done the story justice.

Bran as king was virtually made up on the spot, the Dothraki were never addressed, the unsullied shouldn't have still existed, and let's address the fact that Sansa chose independence for the Stark house, despite the fact that the seven kingdoms were just handed over to... the Starks. Then grey worm insists that the king in the north be exiled... to his own kingdom, and doesn't stick around to see the exile carried out. THEN Sansa sticks around as queen and continues to enforce Jon's exile for presumably power reasons. Bare in mind every one of those conclusions were given about three sentences of setup.

There's less than 20 minutes of dialogue in the series finale, that's not an opinion its data. A series finale D&D wrote and directed. That was not a coincidence or an accident. That justifies why the fans and some of the cast are so pissed off at them.

So about that Varys/Littlefinger moment. I realize it makes for a good redcon foreshadowing situation for Bran becoming king. He says “when you don’t have desires you’re free to pursue other things” and points to the throne. Then before the battle for Winterfell, they make sure to have Bran tell Tyrion that he doesn’t want much of anything. It sets us up to believe it’s Varys but the truth he gives in that moment relates to Bran, another character kind of stripped of “man”hood but in a diff way.

Season 8 Long Night was amazing, the Kings Landing war was also excellent. And I'm sorry, but that throne scene with Jon and Dany was so beautifully done in all ways...great dialogue that fully explained why Jon decided she had to die (and he was right!), visually it was stunning, the music was painfully beautiful, Drogon carrying Dany away..all of it. SO good. 2 things would have made the finale better...that Jaime/Euron scene was kind of pointless, but it WOULDN'T have been pointless if the injuries that Euron inflicted on Jaime caused him to die before he got to Cersei, Arya found Jaime collapsed, took his face, and killed Cersei on her way out. And if they could have done a scene showing what happened after Jon killed Dany...who found out, how did he not get immediately murdered by Greyworm, etc.? I mean, I was thinking when Drogon took off with her that Jon should just bounce and no one would know what happened so he could get away with it it But...I guess that's not him. lol Great video. I've been really disgusted by all the D&D bashing. I've been watching reaction videos from the many years of content, the amount of shock, awe, enjoyment, etc., they provided to so many should be lauded to the hills and back. Yeah, if I was running the show, I'd make different choices here and there....we ALL would. Love you guys, so happy to hear your take on the left eight or so years of the show. And it really is something to think about that the showrunners as successful and Wealthy as they may be it's still really has the hurt when they ears some of the nasty things people say. Eric made me think of this when he talked about some of these things being low blows. Because yeah no matter how successful Corvette the people who made that show are they still have feelings and they're still human beings. They are guaranteed a certain amount of income anyway but it comes from their love of sharing a story with us did they appreciate it so much and wanted to do as good of a job is they thought they could in doing so. It's their baby so the same and I would imagine if it was me especially given the time constraints on the last couple seasons it must have been pretty hard 2 execute those last two seasons and near impossible to find as reasonable as possible ways to wrap up every important detail and I think given the time constraints and budget they did a bang-up job and at the very least even if we don't like certain parts of it maybe we shouldn't be so mean-spirited and some of the things we say. I think everyone is entitled to their opinion sure that should never end but at the same time I just wished some people on social media would think before they say really hateful things. Anyway I love you guys and please don't ever stop.
