I thought the same thing! Brienne, Jorah, and Jaime are all great fighters with Valyrian steel swords so this totally could have and should have happened. Unfortunately the episode missed yet another opportunity in ignoring this possibility.

Exactly! Not even one fought in the battle. Not one! It would have been epic if they battled some of the main characters. Epic deaths, and a true feeling of loss and fear and sacrifice.

Unlike Jon The Night King had a good battle plan. Him and the generals only went in when the battle was won. One general is worthless compared to 100 wights Too bad he didn't forsee arya.
@jsm54925 жыл бұрын
I think the reason we do not see a one on one fight with the Night King or one of the White Walker generals, is that it would be too risky for them to fight a decent fighter like Brienne or Sir Jorah- Because if even one of them falls, a good percentage of the Army of the dead would fall too. Same with Jon vs the Night King.- The NK knew that Jon is an extremely dangerous fighter, with an Valyrien steel sword, that already killed one of his generals back in hardhome. And to risk basically everything (the whole Army and all the other walkers, and losing their whole purpose of creating an endless night and destroying the realms of men) would just be a stupid idea. So i get why none of the walkers or even the NK itself wouldnt try to fight any living character with valyrien steel swords or even risking to accidentally getting killed by a normal soldier with an dragon glass weapon and losing a whole bunch of their army.

People overanalyzed this episode. I think a lot of things were done in order to deliver spectacular action scenes rather than smart one. Last season already shifted toward brainless action and last minute rescues. I don't mean this episode was bad, but when, for example, they sent the dothraki to die, I think they really just did it for the "wow" factor. Without George R. R. Martin storyline they aren't just very good at making up plots with desperate situations that can be solved without some convoluted last minute twists.
@lampjerulez5 жыл бұрын
yes its still nice to watch, but you can def tell that rr martin didnt write this plot :) but then again, George doesnt have the restrictions in his books that the film makers do have. like deadlines and money and effects etc, and actors ofcourse, they couldnt wait until martin was done, beceause they had to recast everyone by then

As Clausewitz said;"Everything in war is very simple, but the simplest thing is difficult." So how do you get the pointy end to the NK? The best warriors failed, Jon is pinned down by a dragon, but Theon's last charge has everyone's attention, allowing the assassin to move in. The Dothraki were wasted, but from their point of view, that tactic had always worked before.

Bronn is going to kill someone with that cross bow...whether it's Jaime or Tyrion (or someone else if he decides to back his mates over gold in an about turn of his nature) remains to be seen. There will be random deaths for sure....and probably into the final episode even after the battle of Kings Landing as well. Your best bet for the Night King...would be that mark on Bran's arm slowly infecting him like creeping necrosis (though there's a good chance its gone now too!).
@beau61135 жыл бұрын
JankoFPS I totally agree. Of course, then you have to ask: was the Night King required in order to kill Bran? Seeing as how zero questions get answered here, one has to assume any wight could kill Bran, thus negating the idea that exposing any White Walkers/ The King is too risky, as they eventually pile in.
@beau61135 жыл бұрын
JankoFPS and of course having the occasional WW fall and lose a portion of the wights would go a long way at reducing the amount of plot armor needed to keep the main characters alive.
@beau61135 жыл бұрын
JankoFPS as presented, the wights alone were unbeatable. There was no reason for the Night King to appear until everyone living person was dead. Yet another military “blunder” that existed only to further the plot. Who needs intelligent writing when you can just point at pretty visuals and then blame the viewers for thinking.

Leaving your shield wall with huge gaps people so the enemy can spill through. Lands dragon in the middle of a zombie horde and looks perplexed as to why your now surrounded and have undead stabbing your dragon. Hardly any archer use while the undead just stand there looking at a wall of fire. The writers went through crazy lengths letting people live at the front line when that huge wave crashed in. Honestly undead should of won hands down easily.
