Here are the meanings of all the colours. - Blue: Guardians/Protectors (Knights or Warriors). - Green: For people who do not intend to use a weapon but will if necessary, these are strong in the force (Yoda). - Red: People who have fully embraced the dark side, anger, fear, passion and hatred. (Sith and Dark Jedi). - Purple: People affiliated with light side and dark side techniques, and are naturally more aggressive in their fighting style (Mace Windu). - Yellow: Used by people who scout, go under cover, and track down an enemy to destroy. In this case you could say professional assassins. (In Game of Thrones Arya and the faceless assassins would use this colour). - Orange: Typically used by negotiators as well as sentinels. (Little Finger would possibly use this colour). - Gold: Used by people are who are exceptionally strong with light side skills, if there's an opposite of a red lightsaber, it would be this one. ( Maybe Ned Stark In his late life?) -Silver: Used by people who are calm and focus on the living force (Probably doctors or medics lol). -Bronze: Used by people who rely on brute physical strength (The Mountain). -White: Used by people of the force who are narrow minded. Snillomator Well all of this is justified (the colouring's of the lightsabers and there meanings), it is all bull to the original purpose. The blue lightsaber was the original (and supposed represent the light side) and red was evil (dark side). Green? It's third light saber colour we've seen (and is symbolic when Luke fights Vader with it, as green is a complementary colour to red, and Vader is same as Luke, just with the dark side). But purple? Samuel Jackson wanted a purple lightsaber so he could see him self in a crowd of jedi.... When asked Lucas was like "he wanted a purple one"... Lucas did not like the idea because of the colour, he said to Jackson "Jedi have only two colours", nothing about "one for this way of using force or fighting style" or anything. Any attempt to disprove this would be useless, as we are talking about the guy who changed the movie so Greedo would shot first.

They were just too over-the-top and it didn't feel like the combatants were actually trying to kill each other but rather seeing how many fancy ways that they could tap their weapons together. In GoT, the duels have a lot more weight to them; we see the combatants get tired and battered and it looks like it takes some effort to swing their swords around. I say that the new movies should try to emulate this style of fighting as much as possible, because it would make the lightsaber duels so much more believable.

well to be fair a light saber is a piece of metal in your hand that probably doesnt weight much compared to a sword, and call me weird but i doubt the laser beam of a light saber weight anything so it would be easier to fight longer with a lightsaber rather than an actual broadsword

billthecanuck George Lucas has said that a lightsaber weighs around 40 pounds when the blade is out but if you look on Wookieepedia they say that a lightsaber is rather lightweight. I'd listen to Lucas who actually came up with all this stuff. In the original trilogy he wanted the actors to make it seem that they were heavy weapons that couldn't just be swung around like it was nothing. I don't know why they abandoned this concept in the prequels. Some argue that the Jedi in the prequels were more adept in fast paced lightsaber combat but I think they just wanted to have more flashy fights. It probably also has to do with the fact that it wasn't as easy to put such action-packed fights to film 30 years ago. In the expanded Star Wars universe all of the other Jedi and Sith seem to fight at the same fast paced style shown in the prequels. Idk, it's all confusing.

Braden Skidmore You pretty much nailed it -- the original didn't have fancy choreography and was limited by technical constraints, whereas the "prequels" had no such constraints. But as with anything Star Wars, fanboys will come up with excuses -- Darth Vader was an old man, Luke was inexperienced, yadda yadda.

Braden Skidmore it makes sense that a weapon made of laser to be lightweight (the blade is 0 weight and the handler is maybe 300grams so it makes sense to flash the saber everywhere and cut through everything with that laser in an instant, without having to put much effort in it ! This is the future. Anyone could use a lightsaber, the only problem with it is that an untrained warrior could kill himself very easy with his own weapon. I experienced this thing in Jedi games in which i throw the lightsaber and than i strafe, and instead catching the handler, i catch the blade in the middle of my body and i am cut in half !!! Geroge Lucas made a mistake when he added a constraint to the lightsaber in weight and not in the fact it is too dangerous for the common people !

This is probably my favorite lightsaber got duel. The lightsabers only highlight their different fighting techniques, and it just so happens oberyn’s is similar to dearth maul’s with a similar weapon. Another thing I like about this scene is how Jamie seems to be awed by oberyn, and I like to think they would have been bros in another life

Fun fact: Tywin's wife planned to marry Jaime with Elia and Oberyn with Cersei before she died, but Tywin refused the match, which is a pity, Oberyn and Cersei would've been perfect for each other and Jaime would've been a husband 100x more loyal to Elia than Rhaegar could ever be!

Absolutely, I think i see it as Gregor is more like a sith who has control over his anger so he is not dumb with it, Where as Oberyn suffered the same fate as Anakin where he overestimates his own power whilst angry and suffers for it.
