When the Red Woman said to Arya "What do we say to the God of Death", and Arya said "Not today", remember that is what Arya's dancing master Syrio Forel would always say to her. And once Bran gave Arya the dagger, I had a feeling that she was going to be the one to kill The Night King, since he probably already knew what was going to happen.

Bran could see the past, not the future.
@PlucharC
@PlucharC 5 ай бұрын
@@Nomad-vv1gk - It's a little more complicated than that. He's able to influence the past in a way that affects the present and thus the future. We're not told the full extent of what this allows, but my personal theory preference is that when he's elsewhere during the battle, he's traveling through time to all the series of events in the past that lead everyone present to this exact moment, to make sure they happen exactly as they need to because he already knows that if it happens just a little differently, they lose. That suggests that he's seen them lose and then traveled back to the past to tweak an event or two to try again.

This is the most ridiculous strategy I've ever seen in a medieval type battle. You don't risk battle outside your walls. Cavalry of this type shouldn't frontal assault. They're not heavy armor. They should flank and that's only in a field battle.

the battle was actually well planned by the night king. jon been saying it for seasons. when the night king and white walkers come, they bring the storm with them and that's what they did to throw off the characters' plan. bad enough it was at night so there were limits there, but to add in this winter storm really placed the characters even more in a vulnerable position. the way the wights came on an attacked the front lines was a complete tactic b/c like the characters, we can't see on screen what they're about to face. everything is in darkness, but you can clearly hear the sounds as it gets louder as they get closer. then the amazing overhead shots of the wights overrunning the soldiers is a terrifying sight, like it was a horror film. night king had his wights on the ground to take over, while he used the storm to deal w/the dragons (as dany mentioned earlier that they don't like the cold), and went after them for a bit before turning his attention to bran.

When the final season hit, I had set up a website where someone could create an account and be taken to a page that listed all living main characters (including the dragons and wolves), and you could select one of 3 options: Live, Die, White Walker. White Walker was a bonus bet, worth 2 pts where each of the others were worth 1. There was also a write in question on the bottom worth 5 pts for who would sit on the iron throne at the end. Everyone chipped in $20 to the pool, and whoever had the most points at the end of the season took all. At the end of each episode, I'd send an update to everyone with the current score board. This episode caused some debate about whether Beric was turned to a White Walker or not (which someone had picked). We never see him as a white walker, but it was reasonable to award the point since he died before the Night King did his thing. Damn those were fun times. I don't think we'll ever get another show like this.

28:19 I agree with you 💯BJ, and that was but one of the many criticisms levied against the last season and the remaining episodes of this otherwise wonderful show, as I remember it. Jon should've been the one to kill the Night King, but Game of Thrones failed to fulfill Aegon Targaryen's prophecy by making Arya destroy him instead. Jon Snow (Aegon Targaryen), was secretly a Targaryen and Stark, the perfect epitome of fire and ice and was always meant to have been the one to thrust the dagger into the villain.

Imagine how good this battle would’ve been if D&D actually consulted someone who knows how an actual castle defense would’ve been done, cavalry used as actual cavalry attacking from the flanks, infantry behind the large ring of fire, the walls manned with fire arrows and oil, the trebuchet’s actually behind the walls and continuously firing, less contrivances, plot armor and character assassinations and more actual smart battle planning, imagine if you could actually see the action as well.

I was about to read the books next. I was a few years late but after I heard about this I just rather not. I usually love to read the books for all the information that is left out of the movies. Like in Twilight. When we read the books we knew what Edward was thinking in certain scenes that the movie never showed. I'm disappointed to see how disappointing it wAs for the readers@@Ccinc6

Asia growling teeth out at The Night King 😂. I can’t believe you two didn’t cry. I still cry at all the deaths and especially Lady Marmont and the “Theon you are a good man” I bawl. Still mades me mad Bran as the three eyed raven sees everything and doesn’t give people a heads up.

I remember saying before season 8 came out, " The dagger was important. " And when Bran gave Arya the dagger. I knew she was going to get the Night King. Plus, the conversation with the Red Woman earlier. Love y'alls reactions!

I rushed home from work at 2 or 3 in the morning to watch this episode. Didn't responded to calls, emails, texts, or anything from about 7pm until after this episode ended. Arya was the single character that, for me, was a make or break deal for the rest of the series. If she died, I was done watching. The only one. She was my favorite character from the moment she shot the arrow over Bran's shoulder to the end (even suffering through the training story line). When The Knight King caught Arya by the throat I was absolutely sure that was it. When she killed him I was jumping and celebrating and, admittedly, had some tears as if my favorite team won Super Bowl or the World Series or something. Arya was always my favorite character. Really enjoyed the way this played out.

A couple of personal considerations: many of them could not survive their mistakes and sacrifice was the only way out of the scene. Arya trained in the tragedy. His path was formidable. No one else had the necessary centring to kill the king of the night. I like to think that in that world, the power of Lyanna Mormont will inspire forever. For me, GOT is over with this episode. Jon looks like a puppet in the thighs of a Daenerys who has completely lost her power in storytelling. Too bad.

It's crazy how no one blinks an eye during episode 2 when they keep saying that the crypt is the safer place to be. EVERYONE picked up on that little nugget of foreshadowing when it first aired. It's probably because you get constant info when binging it. Also, the music at the end is incredible. It might even be better than The Light of the Seven!

There was an entire season dedicated to the Dothraki and then they got wiped out in 5 seconds. The writers could've given them a bigger roll in the battle. I never read the book but I feel like they weren't supposed to be eliminated that fast.
