"I am you, writ small" says Tyrion to his father in A Storm of Swords before loosing his crossbow. Tyrion is truly Twyin's son, no matter what the theories say. He's Tywin reborn but with (slightly) more empathy and baggage plus a dwarf. Tyrion is not the good guy, he is a complex antagonist that the show refused to develop.
@fives.
@fives. 2 жыл бұрын
@@mjhilps Book Tyrion, yes, because his conduct was far too merciless to warrant a character-build. Show Tyrion is where I will disagree, but mostly for true fact he did experience growth and change, but it was through honest tragedy & failure as opposed to clumsiness through excess & his family’s suppression of him. Both times he went on trial in front of the Iron Throne, he didn’t deserve to be there, but the failures and mistakes made to get him there were his completely, regardless of how good/decent of a person he turned out to be. Great example is how hard Varys’ death stuck in his mind the more despotic Daenerys effectively became.

It's not necessarily that. Tywin's children for the most part have always been under the thumb of their father. That normally listened to him. But this was Tyrion's way of saying dad you won't get what you want, he wasn't going to die for something he didn't do, and more importantly he was tired of being manipulated by his father.

It’s more than that. Since one of the only reasons why Tywin hasn’t dismissed this trial is because he hates Tyrion for being a dwarf, Peter Dinklage could relate to his character on a downright spiritual level. Yes, still is.The one with Daeny and Drogon is close behind...but that scene is great thanks to a lot of people, from director, to screen writer and, of course, great actors. But this scene, with Tyrion, is pure gold pouring out of Peter Dinklage's mouth. Only he is responsible for the quality of the scene, he delivered his speech flawlessly. They could have filmed it with an iPhone camera, for all I care, would still be my favorite.

+Anne Marie I'd say the directing also has to do with it, as flawless as his performance is. The powerful camera angles, the way it swings behind him as he addresses the audience with contempt, the lighting, the final look between Tywin and Tyrion as they both take in the turn of events, it's fantastic.

That assumption might take away from the performance. It would suggest that Peter didn't need to act here, he was just playing himself and venting his own personal frustrations. I don't know whether Peter is that trivial on his relationship with his condition, and doesn't appear to have spent his whole life trying to drink & whore his way in denial (like Tyrion had - up until this point). This moment is very specifically a Tyrion/Tywin character arc moment (rather than a generic short person moment) - and Peter is acting it superbly.

Peter deserves another Emmy, that is for sure. This scene is excellently executed, and extremely well done.

I think Theon deserves the Emmy, his personification of a broken man is outstanding.

It should've gone to Michelle Fairley last season for her speech in the Red Wedding

i just wish he'd work on his British accent a little bit more...his acting in moments like this is so good that it more than makes up for it but it would be flawless if his accent wasn't all over the place

Fawad B Meh, it can't be helped, I suppose an inaccurate accent is a fair price for extraordinary acting skill?

Best GOT scene ever. You'll never convince me otherwise. The music right at the end is the cherry on top that makes it deserving of the chef's kiss. Incredibly good acting by Peter Dinklage.

As great as it was for Aaron Paul to win for Breaking Bad the year its final season was nominated, Dinklage should have won for this scene alone. I mean, this is the best GoT scene, hands down.

this is great dramatic acting but nobody talks like this. Aaron Paul's performance in the final few episodes of breaking bad eclipsed any individual example of good acting

@@nitinkapoor1369 breaking last season was probably the best tv season ever so it would be unfair to compare it from that point of view. Peter’s performance in this scene was outstanding and he would have won any award for that if it hadn’t been for Aaron Paul, his acting on BB was superb.
