"I am you, writ small" says Tyrion to his father in A Storm of Swords before loosing his crossbow. Tyrion is truly Twyin's son, no matter what the theories say. He's Tywin reborn but with (slightly) more empathy and baggage plus a dwarf. Tyrion is not the good guy, he is a complex antagonist that the show refused to develop.
@fives.2 жыл бұрын
@@mjhilps Book Tyrion, yes, because his conduct was far too merciless to warrant a character-build. Show Tyrion is where I will disagree, but mostly for true fact he did experience growth and change, but it was through honest tragedy & failure as opposed to clumsiness through excess & his family’s suppression of him. Both times he went on trial in front of the Iron Throne, he didn’t deserve to be there, but the failures and mistakes made to get him there were his completely, regardless of how good/decent of a person he turned out to be. Great example is how hard Varys’ death stuck in his mind the more despotic Daenerys effectively became.

That assumption might take away from the performance. It would suggest that Peter didn't need to act here, he was just playing himself and venting his own personal frustrations. I don't know whether Peter is that trivial on his relationship with his condition, and doesn't appear to have spent his whole life trying to drink & whore his way in denial (like Tyrion had - up until this point). This moment is very specifically a Tyrion/Tywin character arc moment (rather than a generic short person moment) - and Peter is acting it superbly.

The problem is GRRM writes very 'organically' to put one person's take on it, it's also why the show diverged so far away from the books. He just writes what comes to him and runs with it, one of (if not the last books) actually became so drawn out he split it into 2 separate books. A man so above the rest and so understanding of his condition and yet so unapreciated and belittled by even his own family who breaks because of that unreasonable hatred and the reality of the status he cannot overcame.
