8:05 Jon would be ahead of Viserys because Jon is the son of the Crown Prince. Viserys could only take the throne after Rhaegar had no more legitimate male heirs, so if Rhaegar had 3 sons, they'd all be ahead of Viserys.

Jody's Corner The note that Little Finger had and Arya found is the note that Cersei forced Sansa write to criminalize Ned that got him beheaded
@Christine-vn8ob7 жыл бұрын
lmao at Arya needs to start shapeshifting... That note is the letter Sansa sent to Robb when she was in Kingslanding saying her father is a traitor and she is loyal to house Lannister and Robb needs to come bend the knee to Joffrey. Robb's Maester told him thats Sansa writing but Cersei's words. So seems Little finger is trying to turn Arya & Sansa on one another. Arya will feel Sansa betrayed their family and shows Jon is more loyal to be seated in that position (IMO) & those are my exact feels on Sansa I never could stand her ass

@hannahcaruso60657 жыл бұрын
The letter is the one that Cersei manipulated Sansa into writing to her mother and brother about Ned being a traitor and trying to take Joffrey's throne from him way back in season one. Littlefinger is trying to use it to start shit by revealing it to Arya out of context (since he knew she'd be snooping around) and make her suspcious of her sister I think Also, quick little sidenote: Robert Baratheon was selected to take the throne because his house shared the most Targaryen blood without actually being Targaryens (the closest living relative being Robert's grandmother, who was a Targaryen. That was the rebellion's way of trying to legitimize Robert's claim even though the rebellion broke faith with vows made to Targaryen rulers. so I guess technically Gendry is Dany's second cousin or something like that? As for quick travel: if you look at a map of Westeros you'll notice Dragonstone and King's Landing are right next to each other, and the battle that Jaime escaped happened right outside King's landing as they were getting the gold into the city. I have absolutely not explanation as to how they reached the wall so quickly though, lol
@nimblechickcrabbe7 жыл бұрын
Gendry has zero claim to anything because not only is he a bastard, he is an unrecognised bastard. Robert never claimed him as his child. That means he can't even claim the bastard surname "Waters" (the name recognised bastards born in Kings Landing take). Gendry is straight up lowborn and could only ever take the throne by conquest and even then, no highborn lords would accept him. Gendry could potentially be the third dragon rider though. His great grandmother was a Targaryen so he does have some dragon blood!

This line is ridiculous, because he well needed her permission. Jon is here arrogant and insolent. He forgets he’s just a little king, without real army and without power, trying to get help. It's Daenerys who lets him go. If she had wanted him to stay, he was fucked.

Truthfully, Jon knows she could keep him as a prisoner if she wanted to. But he also thinks he's got a good enough grasp of her personality to know that she won't. He's pretty sure he's earned her respect at the very least. And he believes that it must be him to go on this stupid mission, otherwise he's not going to get any allies for his fight against Winter. Jon may be unsure of himself as a ruler at times, but he stands his ground when he believes he should. Plus, if he can get through this without bending the knee or bowing to her orders in any meaningful way, then he won't. And it has little to do with pride. At first, it was because he didn't know her like we know her, so he's not just going to give her his people without finding out what type of ruler she'd be. But, also, he was right in the cave: his people won't accept Dany as their Queen at this time. If he bends the knee, he'll lose the North. (I also think it's foreshadowing. I'm not sure the North will keep him as their king if his true parents are revealed without a lot of people standing up for him.)

I get why you're saying the throne is rightfully Gendry's, but Gendry is a bastard (Robert and Gendry's mother were never married) therefore making Gendry's claim to the throne not valid. Jon is next in line, then Dany. I think.
@EmotionallyExhaustedPuppy7 жыл бұрын
In the books, it's implied heavily that Gendry is Robert's true heir. There is a story that Cercei tells about having one child by Robert, but it was stillborn, however it is implied that the child was sent away because it looked so much like Robert that it disgusted her. I don't know if they'll take that route (since the show has branched away from the books in many ways), but it is interesting.

D&D were not hired to write GOT plot from scratch. They were hired to adapt books. Period. And here we are, 7 years after they signed on to be the producers, and no books. Just a few "notes" from GRRM. IMO, D&D have done an amazing job bringing the series to life. They didn't sign up for this, but they're charging ahead with a purpose and trying their best to do the show justice. They've produced 7 amazing seasons in 7 years and what has GRRM done? Nothing. Someone below mentioned there was a pre-production deal in 2007 that GRRM would have the next book written and the outline for the last one done at this point. I can get behind them and anything they want to do with the series from this point forward. I understand that it might not be perfect, but it's as good as it ever will be. The fact it's any good at all is a testament to D&D's ability to do it all. GRRM has abandonded his convoluted story and left it up to D&D to tie it up and finish it. They aren't the novelists in this deal. But they want to deliver for the fans. And they're doing their best under terrible circumstances. Wights with industrial chains Benjen showing up out of nowhere Gendry running 20 miles in the snow in one day Whatever comes next, I'm jumping on board, and putting aside my ASOIAF and GOT world consistency and plot device gripes, to just enjoy the rest of the series.

The letter is from Sansa to Robb Stark. Sansa was forced to write this letter(being a hostage of the House Lanister in Kings Landing) by Cersei at the beginning of Robb Stark rebellion against King Joffrey Baratheon(Lanister). Cersei hoped that this letter will make Robb to come to Kings Landing and bend the knee. It is just another scheme of "Little Finger" hoping to turn Stark girls one against each other. Aria did not know that Sansa was forced to write that letter, the plan is to make Aria think that Sansa secretly follow Cersei interests. This letter will prove to be Little Finger's doom tho. Bran will feel the growing tension between his sisters and related to that will have a vision where he will see the Little Finger betrayal of Ned Stark in Kinds Landing (the scene when Little Finger puts a Knife on Ned Stark throat). He will share this vision with Sansa and Aria, sealing Little Finger faith. Aria will cut Little Finger's throat with that famous Valerian steel dagger, having Sansa approval.

My man in the center is very knowledgeable, so I just want to put this here to fill in the gaps in their information, so that all of you guys can get a better understanding. Robert Baratheon does have a legitimate claim to the throne, because he is a descendant of Aegon the Conqueror's half brother, Oris Baratheon. And at this time, Gendry is not a legitimate heir to the throne because he is a bastard (illegitimate child). He can become an heir if a King (or Queen) legitimizes him as Robert's son.
@IDK-fp2yc7 жыл бұрын
As for Gendry... I think one of the main reasons he's re-entered the picture, and I'm sure there are more reasons than this, but it's because he's a weapon's manufacturer. Who do they have in the north that is better at forging weapons than Gendry? What are they going to do with all that dragonglass they're mining at Dragonstone? I mean, surely there are still some of Jon's men on Dragonstone mining the glass.

Actually if Jon bent the knee to Daenerys his claim would be forfeit. An example is Maestor Aemon on the Wall his brother became King but Aemon is the older brother. They tried to crown Aemon after they passed over his older brothers son who was an infant. That older brother had the madness so they didn't want to deal with a son that might have it to. So Aemon refused and forfeited it to his younger brother Aegon. Then joined the Nights Watch so his brothers enemies wouldn't use him against his brother.

Robert Baratheon usurped the throne. His only claim to legitimacy was he was part Targaryen. Primogeniture means the heirs to the throne would be Mad King --> Rhaegar --> Jon "Snow" Targaryen. Jon Snow is the legitimate heir to Rhaegar so he supplants his aunt, Daenarys. If Jon Snow gives up the crown, Dany would take it after. Gendry is Robert Baratheon's only living relative now. If you considered the Baratheon line as legitimate, the heirs would be Robert Baratheon --> Gendry, who is the only living relative. If the Baratheons were still alive it would be Robert Baratheon --> Stannis Baratheon --> Renly Baratheon --> Oldest Bastard Son. Now, Robert Baratheon was a distant cousin of the Mad King and the Targaryen line. So Jon Snow, Viserys then Daenerys would have much greater claims to the Mad King's throne than Robert Baratheon.
@ωααα-ν4ξ7 жыл бұрын
After Rhaegar and the Mad King's death, Jon is the next heir to the throne. It doesn't matter if Viserys was the brother after Rhaegar, as long as Rhaegar had sons that were still alive, Viserys was not the heir.

love your vids for GOT! 2 thoughts 1. remember way back in Season 2 Episode 10 when Dany visited the House of The Undying? Dany has a dream-like experience where she is at the Red Keep while it is snowing. right when she is about to touch the Iron Throne, she turns and walks outside the throne gate where it changes into the entrance gates to The Wall. there in the snow she reunites with Khal Drogo and her baby. i think that scene foreshadows Dany rather than aiming to gain the throne choosing instead to go North with Jon to fight the White Walkers. she may even die in the fight because reuniting with Drogo and child could only happen in death. 2. def agree with you on Cersei. when she said "i choose violence" last season, it was the end of her reasoning. lol, wouldn't be surprised if she somehow became a white walker herself. in regards to first 5 minutes, you can take the throne by right of conquest. however, in regards to house TARGAERYEN , John would be the head of that house and that makes his claim to the throne stronger. love this discussion overall as usual but i have to disagree with yall on something. what has sansa done this season that was "annoying"? i mean, she wasnt wrong in that argument with arya. beheading people for disagreeing with jon's way of ruling, like arya suggested, is completely wrong and its something joffrey cersei and ramsay would do. it would also be a ridiculous choice considering the north needs as many soldiers as they can get when the war against the white walkers comes and killing your allies for disagreeing with you is just a waste of men power. and overall throughout the season she has just been making sure the north is ready for war, making sure they have enough armour and food. from the way its going, the north is gonna be the most prepared city out of westeros when the war comes. all thanks to sansa. (and jon, debatable)

Robert conquered his way to the throne, it was not his birthright to rule, so Gendry would have to do the same, the throne wasn't given to Robert, no, he took it by starting rebellion and winning it. Little finger is basically trying to get Arya to think that Sansa is betraying her house but Arya does not know that letter was not her talking and that its from a long time ago. If I remember that scene correctly, Littlefinger was there himself when Sansa was forced to write that letter. When Robb stark received that letter he knew it wasnt Sansa speaking and that it was basically BS.

davos went to get gendry because he thought as a skilled blacksmith, he could help with the forging of dragonglass weapons at winterfell. well, in my point of view, doesn't matter if Jon is a legitimate Rhaegar's son. This doesn't change anything. Until everybody know, Dany is the rightful heir of the iron throne and even knowing this the people of westeros doesn't recognize her as a queen. In other words, she will conquer Westeros not because she is daughter of King, but because she has an army and dragons. As Missandei spoke, people follow her not because she's a daughter of one king that they never knew, but because they choseen her. People wil follow the leader by choice, like when they chose Jon Snow, even he being a bastard. That is legitimacy doesn't matters.

Guys, I don't think you really understand how the line of succession works. Aerys (aka mad king) had 3 children, Rhaegar, Viserys, Daenerys. Aerys dies, so the next in line would be Rhaegar, because he is the oldest legitimate male heir. If Rhaegar dies his oldest legitimate male heir becomes the next in line, not Viserys or Dany. That is the right line of succession. Rhaegar and Lyanna being legally married makes Jon the oldest legitimate male heir to the throne. Gendry has no claim at all, because he was not a legitimate child and even if he was, Robert was not a legitimate king, so therefore, he has no claim over Jon or Dany.
@Therontsc7 жыл бұрын
Actually its more complicated cause the small council can decide to pass over someone if they choose to. Example The Mad Kings grandfather is Aegon V and Aegons older brother is Aemon who joined the Nights Watch. Aegon and Aemon had older brothers Daeron and Aerion but those two died before their father Maekar and they had children. Daeron had a daughter but was passed over because she was simple-minded. Aerion had a infant son but was passed over because they didn't know if he would grow up to be mad like his father and Aemon refused which left Aegon who was crowned. Rhaegar had other children so actually his son Aegon would be the oldest legitimate male heir if this rebellion never happened or if he won and lived cause the Lannisters didn't invade Kings Landing until they got word that Rhaegar was dead. Tywin actually wanted Rhaegar to be king which is one reason why Aerys didn't trust him.
@fmellark7 жыл бұрын
Therontsc yes I get that but I mean as we are right now in the show. With the reveal that Rhaegar got an annulment and remarried is to my understanding that it means his children with Elia became illegitimate and only Jon would be legitimate, which makes him the only legitimate male heir to Rhaegar because Aegon would technically be a bastard and not Jon. So, if Rhaegar didn't die in battle and none of his kids died, his oldest children from his previous marriage would be left out of the line of succession. Now, if the war didn't happen then that means he wouldn't have kidnapped Lyanna and married her so there would be no Jon, then Aegon would grow up to be king, but as we are right now, Aegon is dead and Jon is the only living heir to Rhaegar.
@Therontsc7 жыл бұрын
Yes now Jon would be next in line before Daenerys. But an annulment doesn't make his children by Elia illegitimate. It only makes Lyanna a Princess and their children legitimate so Aegon would still be heir followed by Jon. The show makes it like a Maester can annul or marry someone. Only the King can do that. Two examples King Aenys found out his brother Maegor had married another woman and he exiled him. After Aenys death Maegor returned and crowned himself King Maegor bypassing his brothers sons and married more woman causing revolt war and a short rule. Daeron had a wife he hated and tried to marry another woman but was threatened by his brother the King to send the woman and his bastard away and return to his wife or be named a traitor. A lot of it has to do with the Kings trying to keep the peace.

Awesome discussion :) you bring up some good points… but i dont reaaaaally feel that bad about rushing the traveling of characters from one place or another. To be honest, yes, too fast is bad, but too slow would be bad too, and still…the information we got in this episode was good, like what Gilly or whatever her name was , was reading in front of dumb sam (black pudin XD).

I think Samwell Tarly "Black Pudding" is the oldest son. That's why his dad said take the black or he was gonna kill him. He wanted to pass his stuff on to Dichon and not Black Pudding.

Jon comes first b4 gendry and Daenerys cause gendry is a bastard and Dany is Rhaegars sister... when the mad kings died the throne goes to his heir which is Rhaegar and when Rhaegar dies then the throne goes to his heir aka jon Targaryen

Don't know the dudes name in the middle, but he is on point..Jon is the legitimate heir to the throne..I think we are suppose to put together that the secret ceremony was the marriage of Ryegar to Leanna...Robert took the throne illegally, I agree with that
@pileus_storm7 жыл бұрын
Since dude in the middle pointed out that John is next in line and in this episode you see him touch the dragon in which now the dragon has his scent. John and his merry men will be rescued from the White Walkers by Drogon. I can see it happen. Especially since they are rushing us through this season. A lot of shit is happening and I can see Drogon choosing John. Because they aren't going to get away from the white walkers. They are too fast and it's too many of them and they have no dragon glass weapons to even put a scare in the white walkers. This is too obvious that Drogon will save John and his merry men. Lol They just got up and said let's capture a white walker. They have Gendry a weapons smith that could forge dragon glass weapons but didn't. They have no way out but Drogon.

Jon would have had more legitimacy over Viserys even if the latter was still alive being the legitimate son Viserys' older brother Raegar.

Great discussion guys. I think Littlefinger is trying to split the Stark girls up and set that note up to begin his evil plans to divide them. That Jamie n Bronn shit pissed me off. I'm suppose to believe no one looked for the guy who tried to kill Khaleesi!? Hell no! At least we know Jon is a legit Targareyan. I agree the pace is way too fast leaving us wondering way too much. That Cersei being pregnant bs is messed up too. Prophecy already told us she's only gonna have 3 kids. Mediocre episode for sure. Next 2 episodes will be longer. I suspect some epic shows are coming.

Robert started the rebellion over Rhaegar "stealing" Lyanna. Lyanna begged Ned to keep Jon a secret because Robert wanted all the Targaryens dead and he would have ordered the baby's death bastard or not. Now we know why Ned didn't want Daeny dead. All he could think was what if it was Jon? I'm hoping Sam is going to Winterfell and Gilly brought that journal!
@alabam83397 жыл бұрын
Dickon was Sam's (Black Puddins) *younger* brother. Sam was in line to inherit but his dad didn't respect him because he didn't enjoy hunting, was fat, preferred books to swords and was seen as cowardly. Sam's dad forced him to take the black or he would murder him and explain it as a hunting accident. That was the choice put to Sam. He took the black and his younger brother, who was more like his dad inherited his namesake b/c once you take the black you can take no titles or own no land.
@ASUTASTUD7 жыл бұрын
Gendry is also not Hier to the throne because when the Targaryens took over Westeros there wasn't a king or queen the was only the 7 Houses that all ruled there own lands. Plus if you mutiny on a navy ship you can't go back to port and lay claim as captain of that ship Mutany is not legal weather taking a throne or anything else so Jon is still heir to the throne

I assumed Davos got Gentry because he is "the best" weapon maker and they need him to make weapons out of Dragonglass I assume Bran will be able to possess a dragon(s) to torch the white walker crew Who won't die possibly on the team going past the wall? -The Hound: he has to get back by Winterfell after he saves Jon's life so Arya and Brienne can see he is alive and maybe Sansa talks her from removing him off her kill list since he saved Sansa from gang grape up in Kings Landing -Jorah: no way they have him go through all the turning to stone and getting healed just to get instakilled outside the wall -Jon Snow - nah -Gentry - nah, he has to make weapon(s) out of dragonglass to kill the white walkers [maybe a special sword for Jon Snow to kill the white I'll stop there just cuz i wanna

The real question is when will Bran and/or Howland Reed come forward with this information telling Jon, Daeny and everyone else in Westeros what his actual lineage is? This seems like an early s8 item to me. And then a power struggle develops from there. Jon imo is a reluctant king, as in he will if he gets support but won't push for it. Perhaps he and Daeny marry to appease both?

Jorah's dad joined the black because it was told the that 3 eye raven sent him hints to go there. Mormont felt he had a purpose to fulfill and that's when Jon came later on to the join the black. I think they are taking a white to Cercei not a White Walker. Easier to capture a dead than a white walker.

Hey B here's wat the letter said "Robb, I write to you with a heavy heart. Our good king Robert is dead, killed from wounds he took in a boar hunt. Father has been charged with treason. He conspired with Robert’s brothers against my beloved Joffrey and tried to steal his throne. The Lannisters are treating me very well and provide me with every comfort. I beg you: come to King’s Landing, swear fealty to King Joffrey and prevent any strife between the great houses of Lannister and Stark."

People tend to forget about the targaryen (???) That was at the wall - the blind mister that was there that confided to Sam he was a targaryen. Question is - was that Reygar (???)
@Therontsc7 жыл бұрын
No his name is Aemon Targaryen he was over 100 years old so to old to be Rhaegar. But he actually should have been crowned King but refused for his younger brother Aegon, in the show the Mad King Aerys is his son. But in the books the Mad King is Aegons grandson. He then joined the Nights Watch so his brothers enemies wouldn't use him against his brother

This is what the letter Sansa wrote but they were Cerci's words. This was written right before Ned was beheaded in an attempt to stop Robb from going to war to save his father. "Robb, I write to you with a heavy heart. Our good king Robert is dead, killed from wounds he took in a boar hunt. Father has been charged with treason. He conspired with Robert’s brothers against my beloved Joffrey and tried to steal his throne. The Lannisters are treating me very well and provide me with every comfort. Well Dragonstone is very close to kings landing + the fight had to be close to kings landing (cause they said "the gold is through the gates of kings landing")! Between some scenes are weeks or days.. in the books it was always clear that time passed. They could add a text that says "one week after the dragon attack", but imagine that after every scene :D they left it to our imagination

The way Jaime got down the river so fast is the Current! I live on lake Michigan and the current can pull you out really fast. Also, they were just outside of Kings Landing. An military person should be able to walk 30-50 miles a day (the Roman army did this. In full gear.) Jon Snow (Targaryren) would be the legitimate heir. Robert Baratheron was a usurper. That's why he killed or tried to kill every Targaryren . Why he wanted to kill Daenerys. She was the legitimate heir until Jon.

Robert Baratheon was able to take the throne because his grandfather got married to a Targaryen so that made him the only one with Targaryen blood that could take the throne after the rebellion.
