That’s like if NetherRealm Studios was working on the story “Injustice: Gods Among Us”, where the Joker uses Scarecrow’s fear toxin to trick Superman into killing Lois Lane and her unborn child, only... That was ridiculous. The biggest coincidence ever. I fucking hated that "fight" (it was also poorly edited and choreographed, I don't think there was a single shot that lasted more than half a second and it wasn't exciting at all. It was predictable as fuck. "Jamie will get stabbed, we think he's dead, he'll rally and kill Euron, then find Cersei and die of his wounds." And low and behold that's exactly what happens.

@quhzk A number of people were rooting for Jaime to go to King's Landing to kill Cersei in hopes that he wasn't just regressing back to his old ways. It seems just as poetic to me that Cersei, with her countless enemies, would be killed by arguably the one person in the world that she loved. Jaime had reason to kill her, whereas he and Tyrion have spent the last couple of episodes chumming around so obviously killing his brother wouldn't make sense in any context (unless the writers were feeling like having another character go batshit crazy in the span of an episode or two). Just my harmless little opinion though, if you liked how Cersei and Jaime died then congratulations you're all good

I still have to wait and see how the series ends. But I am now wondering if it could have easily worked better for Jaime’s character, if he told Brienne that he was leaving for King’s Landing to confront Cersei again for better or worse, told Brienne that he is not sure if he will ever be able to come back to Winterfell, never said any dialogue about him suddenly “not carrying for any innocents”, did not get imprisoned by Daenerys on the way back, did not get into a random fight with Euron (who would probably be better off abandoning the battle, to at least give HBO more potential to do Euron justice in a spin-off show), and survived to see Cersei die by the rubble. Afterwards, he is still alive and seen carrying Cersei’s body out of King’s Landing, before then being found and captured by Daenerys’ men. Daenerys could threaten to imprison or execute Jaime, claiming that this proves he was still loyal to Cersei and planning to conspire against Daenerys again. Jaime replies that his plan was to desperately try one last time to get Cersei to leave King’s Landing, saving the life of his sister, his unborn child, and even the innocent people of King’s Landing by taking away Daenerys’ incentive to burn the city to the ground. All Jaime wants now is the chance to take Cersei’s body back to his homeland, bury her in Casterly Rock, finally be left in peace while Dany still gets to have her Iron Throne. In the last exchange, Jaime says that he knows Cersei became a wicked person, yet she was still among the last of his family, and then asked Daenerys what she would have done, if it was her brother or sister that she cared for. Finally Daenerys recounts her life with Viserys Targaryen and says that he was every bit as much a monster as Cersei, she gladly watched him get his just deserts, and she would do it again if she could. With Jaime now being sentenced to public execution by dragon’s fire, tomorrow in King’s Landing, that can be the point where Tyrion comes in to rescue Jaime, so he can leave the land. What happens to Jaime afterwards by the end of the series could be left ambiguous, whether he lives back in Casterly Rock, Brienne gets back with him, etc.

@quhzk She had just put a hit out on him. He only survived that due to Tyrion telling Bronn in the past that he would always pay more than someone else if it meant his life. Jaime had promised Bronn things many times that fell through, ultimately screwing Bronn over. I fully believe, had it just been an order to kill Jaime, that Bronn would've done it. S8 just doesn't make sense.

A terrible story no one wants to see, that is inconsistent with years of character development. Hence a huge outrage and backlash by the fans. So until proven otherwise i.e. he publishes the books with completely different and reasonable good ending (and bittersweet as promised), I am blaming him as well. But I admit the jury is still out on him. Actually maybe he trolled D&D (and HBO and all of us) - i.e. gave them a stupid, ridiculous and retarded ending, so his books can have a proper ending without being spoiled by the show. Who knows.

@@maximumsupermuse when you have a fantasy drama, you create appeal by intrigue. Usually that's through some lore or mysticism or foreshadowing. Every story creates appeal and intrigue..in a crime fic genre this is the crux of the story, and invariably there's lots of red herrings, i.e clues that cause you to follow wrong conclusions. Youd say I think x, or y, or z, killed the victim. But it was A all along. Point is, when you dedicate a significant portion of your work on an aspect, you can't dismiss the whole thread altogether. You need to resolve that thread. Otherwise that's just someone not finishing their story, and pretending like they dont have to because they use the excuse that none of it had to make any sense at all.

Even if prophecies dont matter at all, they then need to address that aspect itself before moving on. It's a big enough plot point to addresss. Thaf would be fine. But they've left the whole thread together.. a text isnt a series of shocking news articles. It's a cohesive story. Two different things.

Cersei’s end could’ve been amazing if it wasn’t literally 2 minutes long. The main antagonist who sought power and happiness for her children, running scared and unable to save her very last child. In principle, that is an amazing and cathartic ending for her. But it didn’t do ANYTHING with it, there was no pay off. It would’ve been interesting, beautiful and human if they had actually done more with it.
