At least on the pc version, when you come back as Padme during the end of the game, that’s when the door unlocks and you get the repeating blaster.

I actually really loved that game. I played the crap out of it, it's a ton of fun even to this day. Sure, it looks like crap. But it's surprisingly fun with great level design, gameplay and the dialogue system is pretty good. It actually does play a big role, and can actually open up different ways to beat a level. It's great. There's surprisingly much freedom in the game. You can beat a crap ton of level in many different ways. It's a very surprising game. There's actually a lot of freedom in the game. Even more than many games today. You know what would be really cool? A graphics mod. Updated visuals. I actually do think that it holds up to this day. I mean, I am NOT saying that it's amazing. But it's actually a decent time.

I never ever understood why this game was so poorly reviewed by so many, it was fun as fuck and that's what a game's fucking supposed to be; fun. Also, graphics do not make a game. You can have a lovely-looking HD game, but if the gameplay is utter shite like so many modern games today that horribly focus on looks and graphics specifically (because that's apparently what defines the quality of a game nowadays according to most 'gamers') and not as much on gameplay personally I get bored extremely quickly. P.S. good review mate (I also adored the Phantom Menace film when it came out - was also young when I saw it)

LOL I have painful memories of that game. It had it's moments but I could never get past the Coruscant level. It had the most infuriating platforming sections I've ever seen. I think I will review it, one day :)

Me, I was pretty much the other way around. When I was young, my mother bought the Special Editions of A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi on VHS, and I enjoyed all three movies. Though, the scene where Vader cuts off Luke's hand did give me recurring nightmares after seeing that scene. Fast forward to 1999, and my aunt invited my entire family to watch the Phantom Menace on my birthday. And I watched it, and nearly everyone attending my birthday present enjoyed the movie. Myself include. And yes, some of us actually like Jar Jar Binks. Hell, whenever I do a Star Wars Marathon, I always put on the Phantom Menace first, since I prefer watching a series in chronological order, instead of the order that they were made. And even to this day, I still enjoy all three movies in the Prequel Trilogy.

This was my first Star Wars game, so I cut it a lot of slack. I have a lot of fond memories of playing as Obi-Wan from Level 1, but always wanted to play as Qui-Gon as he was one of my favorites from the movies. When I reached the Tattooine level - the first one where you play as Qui-Gon - my 8-year-old self nearly thrown a party at home!

When you look back at this game it looks horrible... but I remember this game when it first came out, and it looked amazing... To me back then it looked as good as an xbox game... but obviously it's just because it was newer tech than sega, snes, and etc.

I remember renting this from blockbuster for about 3 weeks until I completed it, I recently brought a ps2 and I picked this up again along with alien trilogy graphics are shocking but my adolescence nostalgia makes up for it

The graphics were actually pretty good by 99 standards on the PC version! I remember playing this and it really didnt look bad at all.

KingProne Yes, he too said that the PC version is better. On the other hand, the PS1 version is horrible by 1999 standards. Back then, I even tried emulating it with PSEmu Pro, which usually improved the graphical quality. And it still sucked!

Did you by any chance visit the lost boy's mother and say "Don't worry. I promise you will have your son back soon."? Because if you do that and then get the boy back to his mother, she won't reward you at all for some reason and just keep saying "May the Force be with you.". But if you either skip the boy's mother and get the boy straight back to his mother or say "I'm sorry, but I must see the Queen to safety. May the Force be with you." before rescuing the boy, she will reward you then.

The characters are uninteresting, bland and not very likeable, and even with the improved fighting choreography, I don't care one bit about the characters that are fighting. The plot makes little to no sense. There is very much CGI (although this one is more biased than the rest). There are no interesting camera shots outside the podrace. The dialogue is boring.

I'm 37 so I just grown up with the Original Trilogy but I've also enjoyed a lot both the new one and the Clone Wars Series... of course they are a lot different but I think the storylines are both really interesting. I've also had this game along with Jedi Power Battles... I always preferred the second one

I played quite a bit of 2 but I've never played the original Battlefront. Looking forward to 3, though I don't think I ever plan a review on them. I just don't know the games well enough. Great review. Me and my younger sister remember playing this game fondly but as you say it was mostly for the fact you could turn Qui Gon into a mass murderer and kill half of Mos Espa... and Padme would actually comment on it! Also the crazy homeless types in Corusant... "Mean people die pretty quick down here!" And on Theed there was a room where you'd find a woman hiding in her house and if you insulted her by saying she should really lock her doors, battle droids show up and attack you mid conversation! Out of interest will you be doing a review of Star Wars Demolition? Another quirky game I remember coming out at that time. Or Jedi Power Battles - which was way more fun than this game.
