I like mean if you still argue breath of the wild have the best open road mechanics we’ve seen. Literally been able to climb anything speaks volumes. There is a reason why other game developers have not done that it’s because it’s not easy to do. In many cases it requires them to blow up part of their game design. Theoretically you would literally have to take a climbing puzzle that has a definite finite solution and introduce the possibility of infinite solutions to it. The idea of going from one point to another and having a fixed linear path to that point goes out the window. Just look at Rison it’s self how many puzzles did we complete where the path was determined you simply had to find it. Imagine if you could climb anything in the game the puzzle gets blown apart. Sadly most of these developers are not ready to build a map with these ideas in mind. Keep in mind breath of the wild with in development for years and I thought about this from the beginning. No one else has. So while I love this franchise I’m always going to compare it to the game that came out right around the same time when it initially did and I’m always going to say you still haven’t measured up to their simple open world mechanics. Do you have a great glam play nice graphics but it still sucks I can’t climb anything despite the fact I should be able to. We talk about breaking the third wall well this is like a wall that we’ve come to notice shouldn’t be there now. Theoretically she should be able to climb anything in that game just about so now people will ask the question why can’t she.

It's pretty disingenuous to reject Botw inspirations. Obviously the devs would've tried to address HZD v Botw comparisons everyone was doing back in 2017. OK other games had gliders before Botw (including by the way skyward sword), but just Occam's razor here til the developers confirm/reject it, are they more likely to have taken inspiration from a recent open world game that sold a ton and was so well-received, or another 10 year old game?

20-Questions No, no, no, no... as someone strictly against cheating, even playing against the spirit of a game (and regularly refuse developer built-in 'cheats', for example playing on Easy) I think the multi-part question in 20-Questions is fundamentally wrong. As any question can essentially become three, four, or more rolled into one, that feels like (hyperbole alert!!) playing a videogame using a guide, an aimbot, having a group of gamers who've already finished the game, and the developer sitting beside while you guide a speed runner who may advise against your suggestions! It's Hang Man with all but two letters filled out. It's Monopoly with all the money except a little loose change given to the rest. It's chess against a player with one pawn and the King. It's starting a race one step from the finish line. It's a racing car against bicycles. Egg and spoon race with a handy tube of glue. It's press A to complete game and unlock and earn all achievements. Mass Effect On a more serious note; I completely agree with the positive comments on the original Mass Effect. For me the game was so amazing that it's literally one of only two third person games I've ever enjoyed! Tried so many that I love everything about outside of that view and rarely last ten minutes before I'm overwhelmed with hatred for the most illogical and atomospheric-destroying view. It's also the only game I've ever had the soundtrack play on. I consider it think the single best game story, combined with the best characters in terms of design, writing and acting. It's only notable issue for me is that it couldn't be played in first-person. Completely agree that the first game was so unbelievably rich in lore, so complete, believable and fleshed out it could have easily spawned as many movies and TV shows as Star Wars or Star Trek, and now I'd go as far to suggest the Marvel cinematic universe. What I completely disagree with anyone/everyone on is the way its sequels handled, or should I say threw out and rewrote it base gameplay systems and mechanics. The developers should have been more careful about the original systems they designed and been confident enough to carry them through to the sequel. Or if they were so keen on a simplistic cover shooter with next to no RPG mechanics, started the franchise that way. Nothing against the idea of redesigning the ship, or altering weapon designs (as along as they followed the same customisation abilities as the first game) but to strip the importance and relevance of stores that were previously treasure troves to search for and purchase upgrades, in order to consider and plan a strategy for the next encounter ripped the heart out of the franchise for me. Even as someone who normally outright refuses to use sniper rifles (boring weapons, dullest virtual combat imaginable) or shotguns (too easy) I was more than happy to be forced to use them when applicable to a character type as this RPG mechanic simply replicated how all military organisations limit your weapon choice; a perfectly logical game system. As was the lack of proficiency in weapons unsuited to the class as it replicated the lack of training and experience the character would have with them. As for Andromeda; the moment it was announced that the game would take place in a whole new galaxy I had a similar reaction to Sam. If a writer, let alone team, can't think of hundreds, let alone just one story in the Milky Way as presented in the first game I think that's a clear indication they're in the wrong career.

I know Tod Howard has said he wants to announce and release games early as close as possible but still, its not set in stone, and certainly not for a game thats not Fallout... And where did BotW steal the glider from? Being able to climb, grapple, and climb is nice and all, particularly while in combat, but I need a flying mount!
@RobStevens643 жыл бұрын
Flying mounts were considered and rejected for the first game as the PS4 hardware couldn’t load content fast enough. Unfortunately, that means we won’t get them in this one either, since it’s cross-gen.

Does Just pay attention to Videogames any more at all? Doesn't know HZ:FW is PS4 and 5 or that Ninja Theory is owned by MS?! Where the hell has he been?

I love the show and have relistened to every episode on spotify three ish times now. But could we see if it's at all possible for mr. thesaurus/ justin to go one episode , one whole episode without the use of the words "like" and "you know?" Some sentences contain upwards of 4-5 "likes," I wish I was exaggerating. Again love the show, Daemon is the man.

I am not in a hurry, I want to play a finished game, with nice gameplay and without bugs, if it's ready at the end o 2022 it's okay to me. Please not another andromeda/no man's sky/cyberpunk 2077/falout66/assassin creed Valhalla... and the list can go on....we just need a finished game at the real state of GOLD version/ no problem day 1 patch/ but finished game, this industry is killing himself by greed.

I agree. I very seldom buy a game at launch because of this reason. I’m ok with waiting until they get a patch or two, plus a price drop or sale.

Is not like BotW was the first with a "glide" action. Let's see how critical IGN is to BotW2 if more not-original mechanics are added.

I had Brave Fencer Musashi in mind when they narrowed it down to action RPG, but then rejected it completely when Daemon said yes to “it was aimed at teens and adults over kids.” This game is for all ages.

I rather not have BOTW climbing in most open world games. I prefer Horizon going the other route by making the combat even better. I hope BOTW2 focuses on combat more cause its lacking in that area.
@mjcastro823 жыл бұрын
Just take the last gen textures from BOTW and put them in every open world game from now on. You'll be able to climb everything. SHEESH!! Do you not see the world detail in Horizon and you want to be able to climb everything?

Well thanks for the warnings about the audio in bio mutant will give it a PASS games like that make me never want to play them.

I'll never understand the view that "climbing everything" made BOTW better than HZD somehow. Horizons combat, narrative, and characters were all better than Zelda.

FFS! Not another bloody BOTW comparison. It's a gliding mechanic, it's been in hundreds of games over the years.

Enough with the breath of the wild comparisons!!! Yes it was a great game but really!?! Allow games to use other features of other games and stop comparing them. Just because it uses a glide and climb mechanic, really. Other games before botw used those things so enough! Seriously! Just let the game be the game.

I'm so intrigued to go back to mass effect 1. It was always my favourite by far. I really disliked how they changed the gameplay in 2 and 3 at the time, but I can't ignore how much people criticise 1 today. So I'm excited to see what I think of it today.
