Damn!, put those two cars on a dyno. That so called 'tuned car' is barley any faster...
@dsantana03116 жыл бұрын
Very poor choice for “tuned” fiesta. Needs an intercooler first and foremost. It a v2 accessport and it’s mostly likely an off the shelf tune stage 0 or stage 1 at best, which doesn’t really add any power it just adds some features over stock like launch control and flat foot shifting. Which I may be wrong I don’t even know if a v2 has those features. That fiesta needs full bolt ons and a custom protune for noticeable gains over stock.

The Fiesta is not about times and never has been. It has always been about how it FEELS. It FEELS fast, it feels nimble and it feels light! It will not beat many cars in times until you start doing some more bolt on’s or especially change the turbo; the Fiesta is what it is. An affordable, efficient and ridiculously fun car for the money. Who cares if an Accord with a V6 can beat it, the purpose has always been to blast around town in the low revs. P.S. take an Accord to the Canyons and try to keep with a good driver in a Fist;)

Geoffrey Orsini A good driver in the Fiesta ST can set impressive lap tames. I regularly run Auto-X and there are a couple stock/mostly stock Fiesta STs. Due to their light, weight, relatively narrow track, and short wheelbase, the Fiesta STs regularly pull one rear tire off the ground under hard cornering. Even once they do, they still just grip and force through the turn. With some mods/weight reduction, I think a Fiesta ST would be an absolute track weapon.

What you people don't realize is that basic mods with a tune on a low HP car isn't going to bring you a significant power gain that's going to make a big difference. The tuned Fiesta ST might have a 10 to 15 HP advantage with the mods it has over the stock one. Not enough to blow you away.
@BensCoffeeRants6 жыл бұрын
Some cars do respond better to tuning than others, doesn't matter if it's relatively low or high horsepower I don't think. You can get decent gains that you can FEEL with a flash tune. I noticed with the Cobb stage 1 off the shelf tune, the turbo seems to hit a little harder, the car characteristics seem a little less refined, more sketchy than stock, but not so much that it feels dangerous / scary. I think that OTS tune only gives you like 6HP and maybe 15 extra Torque but it makes a difference. Some other cars I think VWs can gain maybe 40HP with a similar Off the shelf tune I believe which is pretty crazy.

It's worth noting that it has a 91 octane tune. Tuners across many platforms will tell you that there's not much to be had on factory performance cars with 91. I know these guys don't have the option, but 93 tunes are usually where there are real gains to be had.
@DanielBrownOre6 жыл бұрын
Well, 93 is at least a full step up from 91 but e30 tunes are where that's 2 full steps above a 93 tune, literally 25-30 HP more over 93 just from using e30... too bad it's so hard to find e85 to make an e30 mix where i live, so at least my 93 tune helps as much as it can anyway...
@Treyk9016 жыл бұрын

How much more do those sparco seats weigh? I wonder if the “upgraded” cat back is hampering the extra power you’ve added? Also many of the cold air intakes actually make the air hotter either way that money you spent obviously didn’t go a long way.
@BensCoffeeRants6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, stock air box gets air from outside the engine where it's cooler, a lot of Cold air intakes ironically get air from the engine bay area which is hotter. People like them because they're open and you hear the intake noise more. But cool air is better for the engine, efficiency and power. Some cold air intakes are made right though.
@BensCoffeeRants6 жыл бұрын
I don't think the cat-back would be hampering performance though. Sparco seats ? Recaro you mean? They're probably heavy but nice nice seats. I think the differences were probably due to driver and or tires more than anything else. The tune he had probably isn't as great as a modern tune as well, that was an old school tuning device.

@Flewpygoober6 жыл бұрын
Sucks they spent money on the tuned FiST in all the wrong places. It really needs a better front mount intercooler and catless downpipe. As for the "intake" on the car, all they did was replace a small section with silicon piping. It looks like they didn't change the entire intake, just that small section. The intake goes all the way down to the turbo on the back of the engine and the piping is really narrow and lots of bendy parts that cause turbulent air flow.
@BensCoffeeRants6 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard of the Fiesta ST needing an aftermarket down-pipe, from what I've heard the intake and exhaust system isn't really restricting anything unless you've upgraded to a big turbo. I don't recommend going cat-less because it's going to stink, it's illegal in most places because it's awful for the environment. We all need air to live.

Ok anyone who knows this car is it doesn't make power until a cold air intake and a bigger turbo. Rather it s hybrid turbo or a big turbo with up top power rather than mid-line/lower end power. The modded car needed to have someone more experienced at the wheel with the car. Now cobb tunes aren't anything for these cars.An actual tuner does wonders for these cars.
@St320036 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Why was the tuned Fiesta more economical than the regular Fiesta ST? More access to power usually always equals more fuel consumption. My only guess is that the smooth race wheels led to less road friction and this better economy for the gentle driving laps they took.

@mcbigman1006 жыл бұрын
this is great and all. But! Tire diameter is an issue. The 16" wheels can't have the exact same tire diameter as the factory tire. This effects all of these tests. Mileage. acceleration etc. If the most common size 16" tire (p205/55r16) was used then it is 6% shorter than stock.
@BensCoffeeRants6 жыл бұрын
You can have similar diameter if you choose the right tires, this is a good site for comparing. If you want to go to a smaller and possibly wider tire you benefit from some weight saving from the wheels which helps acceleration, and more grip if you go wider. This site shows less than 4mm difference in diameter with these sizes. www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=205&aspect=40&diameter=17&wheelwidth=7&offset=47&width2=215&aspect2=45&wheel_size=16&wheel_width=7&offset2=47

@DanielBrownOre6 жыл бұрын
Other than modern tune, preferably e30, not much other than turbo upgrade really helps... that's right, you can go intake and downpipe but on stock turbo they might get you 10 HP with a tune, when a tune alone will give you 25 HP... intake and exhaust is NOT a bottleneck unless you have a turbo upgrade!
