yeah like to us dead kids is the norm. like imagine how they'd react if they saw "william aftons death the remake" [im not going to say the og name because spoilers] but like the blood, the gore, the impalement. to us fnaf fans this is super normal, but to newbies or little kids it must sound horrifying it makes me even more hype for the movie so when we see william's death on the big screen can you imagine the parents horror as they realize what they let their kids play all these years, lmao. i will be in the back row laughing like j jonah jamason and eating popcorn.

The biggest problem with that approach is the length of whole thing, there's half a hundred videos, and many of them go back and forth and eventually turn out to be false. And you would want to skip the first video, because it's, uh, you know.

FNAF has what I like to call schrodingers lore where only the creator's have the "true story" and it can change anytime they want it to in order to keep the fanbase engaged and buying games. All they have to do is introduce something new that jumbles it up or introduces new questions, and the fandom is stuck racking it's brain for another year or so before the next game comes out that they "have to buy" in order to figure out the lore. And the cycle repeats once the new content gives more questions than answers. It's honestly an ingenious moneymaking scheme.

It’s pretty impressive to look back and see just how far the franchise has come from that first game. It felt so much smaller then, when theories were young and only focused on that first game. It jump started an entire new genre of horror games and, trust me, even people who are fans are still confused about the lore 😂 Adding my vote toward more episodes of this! I was laughing every time you guys were thrown for a loop-your eyebrows practically disappeared into your hairlines hahaha The first games’ pretty fun! Especially with friends to scream with, so I hope y’all enjoy it :D I think each level is about maybe 5 minutes, so you could honestly complete it in under an hour or two depending on your death counts

I'm so glad you guys decided to look into this. The iceberg is DEEP. I honestly recommend just working your way through Game Theory's FNAF playlist in order. The first video is skippable but the details build over time as more games/books/info came out over the years. The theories are ever changing so getting a basis of knowledge about things that are glossed over as fact (Billy stuffing children into animatronic suits) will help with understanding the madness that is current FNAF lore. Plus its pretty wild to get concepts from the books as they appear. Trust me, it gets wild. Whatever you decide I am excited for all your content, FNAF and beyond!

So a heads up on this series from a theorist in the community: While technically impressive and a decent story in its own right, this is not an objective timeline of events. Part 1 is like 85% speculation, part is pretty solid but divisive in some parts, Part 3 has some strange claims that don't add much to the story, and part 4 is almost completely wrong as far as we know (or at least no supporting evidence for it has appeared, and more evidence for other interpretations has surfaced). Just think of this as Game Theory's personal fanmade version of the story based on the real one, and have fun with it under that context. It's still a fun ride.

You should definitely watch more of any of the Theory channels' videos, if you're willing to, even for things that aren't FNaF-related. Matthew is a great guy, funny, and just insanely dedicated to every little thing. While this timeline has a couple things that, afterwards, were proven wrong or a little backwards, most of it is pretty spot on and has quite a good amount of evidence. Even for the things that ended up being wrong, he went so in depth into research to prove it and it's incredibly respectable.
@Sammy_The_Umbreon

I'd recommend starting from the beginning. People new to it usually start with 'the ultimate timeline' and like 50% of it is lost on them cause of lack of context and base knowledge. It's also in a storytelling format and can be hard to keep up with if you're new. Watching his theories in order is a great way to build up said base knowledge. See what happened over the years and how we came to the conclusions we have today.

Yes! So glad they are watching the timeline videos. While there are aspects of the story and the lore that are either oudated or very theory based, these do tell the overall story of the franchise. (At least up to Pizza Sim) And I do believe that the next two parts, "The Afton Era", are the most accurate we could ever come to the story. But one thing to remember with the FNaF timeline and story, is that everyone's opinion will be different on certain key moments in the story. Sure you got your basic elements set into stone, and basic ideas of the timeline and characters, but even then people still have different ideas on how things played out. I agree with most of MatPat's views and theories regarding this franchise. He even got me into doing theories myself about the games. But I still have different opinions on certain parts. (Gotta be honest. I actually agree with a lot of the "controversial theories" of the franchise) That being said I will say that the timeline video is a good start to get a more overall idea on what the franchise is about. I would also recommend watching some of the older theories, seeing how much the story has changed and how many crazy reveals we had. However I will also say do not take these videos at face value. They are theories after all and are not the full truth about the franchise. It's always good to make up your own mind on the story.

Oh yeah, the source code thing back in the good old days of Scott making FNAF games, he had his own website which would occasionally change to a new image that you either had to brighten or darken to get good pieces of evidence, that being said Scott hit stuff in the websites code too, so if you went looking you got extra sauce. For example before sister location dropped we got an image with the main area and if you'd brighten it it said closed due to gas leaks and if you checked the code it mentioned chica's party world

I think the best order of business for FNAF is to watch FootOfAFerret to get a baseline introduction into FNAF and get a good feel for what the games are about and just how dark and twisted the story gets. Then come over to Matpat for a more detailed guide, at least for stuff leading up to FNAF 6. The current era is still ever twisting and I don't think it's a good idea to take his word as gospel on the new stuff, but the episode is still entertaining and food for thought in many ways, so it's good to understand what his perspectives are (or at least, were at some point). If you're interested in new era FNAF, you might wanna look into FuhNaff and RyeToast who have better detailed analyses and don't tend to jump the gun quite as much as GT often does.

I know this comment is long, but please read the whole thing! Gonna suggest something that is kinda crazy but would be totally awesome if you guys did. Finish reacting to all parts of Mat Pat's ultimate timeline, along with some other videos summarizing the current state of the lore. Then, you guys should make a series reacting to the entire game theory FNAF playlist! That's how I learned the lore of the games, and it was fascinating to watch how the theories evolved and developed from when the first game released to now. I think it's good to watch the playlist after already knowing the current working theories in the community because you can see how exactly they got to that point, and it will also let you recognize which parts of the old theories became outdated/changed and which parts still hold up or are still believed to be true today. I think it would be super fun for you guys to watch how the FNAF theories have developed as the games released and the community slowly got more and more information. Matt Patt's playlist on it not only serves as a great documentation of how the community has evolved over the years, but it is also hilarious to watch his descent into madness. The first video you guys watched that showed Mattpat playing the game is actually a theory video, not a lets play, and it is indeed the first theory video he made on the series. It is also the first video in the game theory FNAF playlist. There are about 70 episodes in that playlist, so It would basically be like adding another show/series to watch on your channel schedule. I think it would be fun though, and i'm sure it would get a lot of views! Think about it, I think it would be awesome!

I can't explain how excited and ready I am for more people to explore the FNAF lore, books, games etc etc. This movie is really opening the FNAF franchise to new audiences. I can't help but feel proud of how far this has come and to see people get shocked (puns) really makes my day.

As someone who has been watching MatPat's theories on FNAF since the beginning, it is absolutely wild to see how far this franchise and the FNAF series has come over all these years. And to truly *truly* understand (as much as you can) of this franchise, almost ***all*** of Game Theory's FNAF theories need to be watched. I'm personally partial to anything that's pre-Security Breach, but that's just a personal adoration from before VR and AR joined the fray. All of the theories are important, and go much more in-depth to explain key events, and yes, most of them have been proven wrong by now, but it still feels crucial (to me) to see where the franchise was before it kept getting bigger and bigger, and understand those moments when everyone thought it was going to end at Game 4, or Pizza Simulator, or Ultimate Custom Night. And it will clear up the confusion to the fact that William Afton murdered children, since that caught y'all by surprise even though it's one of William's biggest character traits. :D And I just want to see more people enjoying Game Theory...

FNAF lore gets so much more unhinged from here. Especially with the movie out and your reaction to it, I urge you to come back and watch the last two parts of this. It's a Wild Ride so many of have been inured to for years, so seeing fresh reactions to all this is so refreshing and amusing

I love the idea of you guys playing the game to see who can make it farthest :D See, its called Five Nights at Freddies because the end of the normal game mode is the fith day, and they get harder as you go. So night 1 is relatively calmer then night 4, for example. I hope we get to see you guys give it a shot :D Loving your channel btw

Watch the timelines in order ( the ultimate one you started with here) its the closest one so far that is still being picked apart and disputed by theorists since the release of the last expansion that came out and the announcement of another new game or two.
