So after watching both videos, you say both Kris and Gaster can represent Toby. Let's take this further. I won't take credit for finding this, but someone has noticed that in the intro of Deltarune's survey- there are actually two voices speaking to the player. One voice is thought to be Gaster using the capital letters (like the tweets), and the other is thought to be Chara with the lowercase. In the Japanese version, the voice that is thought to be Chara uses kanji in the same way Chara does in a genocide run- as kanji is hardly used in Undertale at all. So what if it's both? Chara and Gaster are connected, and Kris shares several similarities with Chara to the point where I suspect they might even be a version of 'Chara' (Same adoptive family, knife, shirt, etc). With both the end of the Genocide run and all of deltarune, choice does not matter. Also, that machine that keeps showing up in this video has a soul- shaped object inside. A red one like Chara was suspected to have. Did their soul actually disappear after Asriel was killed? Or was it used in an experiment? To me, at least, it looks like that machine has a face with glowing red eyes and a cracked face. What do you think? Edit: Wha-Wha-WHA!? I'm honored to receive these likes. If Chara knows about timelines it's also possible that she simply lied about her name being kris, so we wouldnt be able to recognize her when we arrive in this new world. Also Gaster maybe didn't plan for us to share a body with Kris. The lowercase letters in the survey only show up to interrupt the capital letters to tell us that our creation will be discarded and our choices don't matter. It might be the case that Gaster wanted us to play as our creation but Chara/Kris somehow prevented that

Let me put together some facts. Deltarune takes place in a different world from Undertale. Kris does disturbing stuff at the end of Chapter 1, including putting their soul in a cage, pulling out a knife, and having their eyes glow red. They wear Chara's colors. Chara, in Undertale, wanted to erase the world and move on to the next. The pacifist route in Undertale is considered the true ending, whereas other endings are not. So, my conclusion is that Deltarune takes place after the end of the genocide route of Undertale, hence why it takes place in a different world but has the same characters (and same letters in the title), and why Toby Fox would say it's not Undertale, because it doesn't take place within the world of the true ending of Undertale. It would also explain why you have no real choice in Deltarune, because if you refuse to give up your soul to Chara to reset Undertale, Chara kills you, the player, the thing making the choices and changing things. Undertale is the world where you can make choices, and Deltarune is the world that results from you making a choice that kills your ability to make choices. This point would hammered home by the imagery of Kris putting their soul in a cage (that heart icon which has represented the player throughout both of these games), much how the player is in a cage within the linear gameplay of Deltarune. I believe it may be possible that Chara may have some bigger role in future chapters of Deltarune, considering we've already seen several (small) hero/villain twists in Chapter 1, and I wouldn't put it past Toby Fox to pull a bigger twist like that. After all, again, he wouldn't be lying by saying that Deltarune is not the world of Undertale, that it's a different world with different characters that have lived different lives, if this theory of mine is true. You help Chara erase the world and move on to the next if you play the Undertale genocide ending as "genocide-y" as possible (erasing the world, then taking the steps to have Chara kill you, the player, the final living thing in the game other than whatever Chara is). One would be correct in saying that Deltarune is "the next world", the next world created by their cruel god, the little white dog. Toby loves anagrams, and "dog" and "god" is an easy one. Not an important detail, I don't think. Though isn't it curious that the focus on white dogs seems to be missing in Deltarune? This is just wild speculation at this point (if it wasn't already), but perhaps the absence of white dogs in Deltarune is a sign that this world is one without a god (ironic, since there's a church in Deltarune and not in Undertale), with powerful beings to the level of the player's soul in Undertale and Flowey with his determination injection likely all being relegated to the imaginary world that the dark classroom creates. After all, I haven't seen any references to magic in the "real world" of Deltarune. Perhaps the world of Undertale could possibly be interpreted as a world of pretend existing in Deltarune, completely destroying the theory I've just built up? Whatever the case, I'll go ahead and end this crazy rant right now. Interpret it how you will.

I have a theory: So you know how Sans in the genocide fight says that he stopped trying to go back a long time ago? And then the picture with three smiling people in his workshop that you can't reconize? Well, maybe he stopped trying to go back to delarune, and the three people are Suzy, Kris and Rasei. I also saw a theory that said the reason Sans can bleed is because he is a darkener, like Lancer, because Lancer comes up to the three heroes with a bucket to, "collect their blood" meaning he knows darkener can bleed, like him. Also, I saw another theory that says that Gaster and Chara were polar opposites, one wants to create (Gaster) and one to destroy (Chara), and I thought, " Wow that sounds like Ink Sans and Error Sans!" So yeah, just my personal take on this whole deltarune mystery. :3

Don’t forget Kris’ awareness to the player. Not only at the end where he removes his soul. But during the game play, whenever there is a cut scene between characters and their dialogue. When the scene is over Kris, looks at *you* the player. Similar to when sans tells his puns at the start of Undertale, he delivers the punchline looking at *you* the player.

oh my god I just noticed that What if when Flowey became Omega Flowey he somehow became linked to Undertales code. along with being able to save/load, they also became somewhat of a god like Toby & Gaster being able to manipulate the game itself. Ok he is saying that the determination is the cause of how to pick paths. This has me thinking. In one of his theories of Deltarune he says how Kris is living under asriel's shadow. This would make Kris feel less determined. That makes it where he can't really choose his own path. Plus if you think about it we have no proof that Kris throwing their soul in a cage actually happens AFTER the events of the game. It could have happened before. And all this abuse to the soul also started to slowly drain it's determination. That might be why in this game you can not choose your own path. Plus if you think about Kris they are bossed around and led more than being independent. In a real life scenario if someone is more of a follower than a leader than they will have less determination to do stuff on their own. I can hear people replying "That can't be true! In the game Ralsei does whatever Kris tells him to do." But that is a lie. Cause if you choose genocide Ralsei also attacks because YOU tell him to. Not Kris. Kris is following YOUR path. Now I hear you saying "What about the ending. That isn't YOUR choice. It's Kris' choice." But that is also a lie because this part is TOBY'S choice. Toby programmed it to be this way. Another example of Kris being a follower is like when they has Toriel lead them into the school. Or when Susie tells Kris to lead the way. If you lead at KRIS' normal speed than Susie will take the lead. If you lead faster going at YOUR own pace Susie let's YOU lead. Kris is just listening to you. Another example of Kris not having much determination is towards the beginning of the game at the first save spot. I can not rember what it says specifically. But it says something about the save point flickering. Now I hear you saying "Yes but that was only for the first one!" Welp once again I can show you why. In this world Kris feels safe and welcome even if they are doing genocide cause they feel like it is their world. So this makes them happy. And as you play you get more determination to beat the game. But once you leave this world you lose the determination to beat it and find it as just a small nice little addition but as you walk home or around town you lose the determination to beat anything cause you think this is it. So once you get back to the house you have such little determination that you get the same ending rather you did pacifist or genocide. You still get the same old sequence of either a memory or a event that happens.

It's like how when Tiber Septim/Talos, from Elder Scrolls turned Cyrodiil from a Jungle to fertile Plains, when he did so in one reality, he did so for ALL realities and times. I do think most of the theory is true, but I disagree that Gaster has fallen in the game "Undertale", since it was not his creation. He, too, was a monster living in the Underground minding his own business. Experimenting with human souls, he made a microverse called Deltarune. But that is not his created future. Gaster is a scientist. He thinks an analytic way and cuts everything not relevant to the experiment out like every other scientist does. According to this way of thinking, why would he add a dark world to his self-created future that a player can explore? And if he wanted a good future for everyone, he would not put an antagonist in the Deltarune game. The future is perfect for some characters, that means Undyne hasnt lost her eye, the Amalgamates weren't in terrific experiments and so on. But Alphys never heard of Undyne, Papyrus is not existent and someone is, according to unused data, trapped behind some iron doors. He surely could have made a mistake and has fallen in the Deltarune microverse, but that doesn't grant him the power of controlling this world. An earlier theory of yours said that Gaster is split in between Sans and Papyrus. The two were just litteraly suddenly existent and no one knows where they came from. My theory is that both of them are his creation: Experiments with Determination caused the flesh of both to melt, but the amount of Determination in these two experiments was just enough to keep them living as Skeletons and giving them the magic powers they have like time-line jumping. Sans also mentiones in his battle that he wants to go "home", but not to the surface. For him, "home" is where he was before Gaster started experimenting on both of them and where he was a normal monster. Gaster litteraly could have fallen in "his creation": the two Skeletons. That explains their odd behavior, and also the fact why they appeared so suddenly: They broke free from Gasters lab after he had fallen in both of them. In Deltarune, we only get to see Sans in front of his store. Papyrus is nowhere to he found. That means the events of Deltarune happened before the experiments to Papyrus. But Gaster has not fallen in his creation, he is not stuck in Papyrus' and Sans' brain. Sans also has no visible magic powers like teleporting in the Deltarune universe, which can be explained that he gained his powers in Undertale from Gaster falling in his brain. That means he is an existent monster in Deltarune with his magic powers like time-line hopping and teleporting like Sans did. Maybe he is the one giving you the egg. Now you know my theory.

Mmh, I think I understand the point about Gaster-being-Toby-being-"the one(s) pulling the strings"... It's kinda like, if this was the analysis of some works of literature instead of video games-even if that doesn't need to be differentiated. They can both be used to tell a story (especially for RPGs), only the means to do so is different-, you'd say Toby is the *author/writer* and Gaster is the *narrator.* Those are two different roles, but both are in charge of the diegesis to some extent, which is (in a way) what could usually be called world-building. That also shines a light on Gastor's presence/absence in his own narration: some narrators place themselves in their stories and some don't-but some stories _need their narrator to be present in it_ to make sense or to elicit the desired feelings in the reader/gamer. I think they everything points to Gaster having been instrumental in the creation of the *DeltaRune* timeline, and possibly many/all of the *Undertale* ones too. That sounds pretty _intra-homodiegetic narrator_ -esque to me! Ha! But I'm rambling. TL;DR: I agree!
