But it kinda is possible, i mean if ralsei really is kris's head band then it explains why he looks like asriel and have similar name, you know, since the reason why toriel gave kris the headband is because he thinks he's a monster. He wants to be a monster. He wants to be like his brother, thus explain the similarity between ralsei and asriel. And the moment when kris realize that he's not a monster is when he gets into the school, when he start learning, that he's in fact a human. And he accept it, and to put his childhood fantasy along with old memory of asriel who's leave him, away. So he put his headband on the most forgettable places. the dark place where broom's hang(and be touched by a crime loving teenager), the school's closet. And that's why ralsei said that he's been waiting for the heroes to come for a long time, he's been waiting for for Kris, for his friend to come. That's why kris hesitate to enter the closet, he knows of what waiting inside. His fantasies, his memories, his headband. So there you have it folks deltarune is the story of a boy's ruined fantasy and a lonely headband. But that's just a theory a game theory. Here's another peice of evidence that's overlooked! In Undertale, alphys states that Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2 is worse than the original. But in Deltarune's library, theres an anime review by an "anonymous yellow dinosaur" that states Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2 is better than the original. NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT THIS YALL

I believe this is a callback to Toby Fox specifically calling Deltarune a parallel universe to Undertale. It would make sense because in Undertale, Alphys LOVES Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2 and hates the original, but the parallel would be the opposite of that. That said, I think it's just an easter egg to the original Alphys from Undertale since from my watching of this I didn't see any other easter eggs to her other self. Good job calling this out!

A lot of people are saying that asriel is not a twisted guy who hates humans but no asriel never hated humans it was chara on the contrary, in undertale when asriel took chara s body in the overworld he had the power to destroy all the humans and chara wanted to because chara s soul was still with asriels and asriel was resisting and trying not to hurt the humans so in deltarune i think asriel isnt the same because doesnt exist yet there since chara is filled with determination and determination can change things while susie tells us many times : " Your choices dont matter"

Another possible context clue to everything discussed here can also be found in "Don't Forget": the song that plays at the end credits. Although the song is short, the lyrics acknowledge the sense of (Kris') depression and imagination: "When the light is running low/And the shadows start to grow/And the places that you go/Seem like fantasy..." I also hear "Don't Forget" as someone reassuring Kris that everything will be okay ("I'm with you in the dark"), but it is difficult to tell which character in Deltarune would say that.

Mr. Pokirby that’s actually pretty interesting. I never really noticed that but now that I think about it, milk is normally a symbol of youth which fits even more with the theme here. Kris is growing up and people are leaving and coming into life in different ways. Perhaps the motif of milk is a means of subtle communication of the desire to be young again!

There *is* an angel in Deltarune. When you visit Noelle's dad, there's an angel doll in the room with the text "It's an angel doll. Its lack of facial features is unsettling." He says that Noelle and Dess made it for him in youth group and it's like a good luck charm for him. Then Noelle's dad says that Kris and Asriel tried to make one but "wasted the whole time trying to make huge wings for it." I have no doubt that this somehow connects to the whole "Angel's Heaven" thing. I'm hoping you've incorporated this into your theory Matpat, as I feel this detail must suggest some sort of significance.

The whole "Angel's Heaven" thing is probably also tied with the fact that Kris' family, including asriel, were very religious and even attended service on Sundays even though the pastor apparently points out that Kris seemed to just want to come by for their "Sick Fruit Juice". He claimed they'd like if Kris came to sing with the Choir as well where Asriel also sang before leaving. We might get some pseudo religious concepts involving the things Kris may have been taught while in church or by their family. After all Kris may not really understand what Angels are or what Heaven is given the broken nature of their life. I believe the Kris may have actually come to resent the legacy of Asriel who is clearly represented as the Monster town's Big name and everyone you talk to about him talks about how great he was. Living in Someone's shadow can be even worse when they're someone you loved and Kris may believe they have some supernatural barricade to overcome with that same legacy. Like a Prophecy of sorts.

My guess: Angel's Heaven: Their religious family / community background. Angels Dolls: Living up to the expectation of Angel's Heaven. Spent the whole time making huge wings for it: Angel's wings and wings in general are for flying. The other qualities of an angel we imagine (especially with religious context of them) would there for be in the body they ignored. Being moral people, sticking together rather then abandoning your family; whether it's due to divorce or college. Etc. Huge Wings: The other part of being good in the standing of the community aside from being moral and good natured, being educated. Instilled in Kris' family especially since the mother is a teacher. Kris and the brother focused more on the wings as a result and it caused him to fly away to college. Likely one reason Kris now wants to destroy Angel's Heaven and is more anti-social then scholarly, personable and well rounded like Asriel. It also specifies that the Angel Doll made by Noelle and Dess was made in youth group, the church; but doesn't for Asriel and Kris. Lack of facial features: losing your individuality, personality and sense of self in order to fit the mold of the community.

Isn’t it weird that Jevil is the only one who talks? I don’t mean in text, he says things with noise like “Chaos, Chaos” and “I can do anything” Also.... with all the ‘you can’t chose who/what you are’ in the game, it’s funny that Jevil says that he can do anything. Especially since that the game says you can’t do anything to change. One of the only pacifist/fighting chose you can ever make that will somewhat change the storyline or just change anything is in the Jevil battle. If you fight him, you get a weapon whereas if you spare him, you get armor.

jevil isn't imagination, he's the joker card, often left outside of the game (but free since he's not being played with) and when you do play a game using the jokers, it usually is a terrible card to end up with.

I agree with everything except that last bit. It’s not a bad card, if anything, it’s the best card. The joker is usually a ‘wild card’. It can be anything. Jevil uses all the suits in his attacks, and even says ‘I can do anything’ sometimes when attacking. Not sure how this ties in to Jevils character tho. Maybe because he’s anything, he by extension represents Kris thinking about Asriel coming home?

Honestly imma cry... I grew up with abusive parents and my brother was my hero. I wanted to be exactly like him... but then he moved away to college. When he left... he changed to someone I didn't recognize... He used to be kind of a punk kid but when he left he became my parent's dream. All A's... became a doctor and a church-goer. with susie's eating chalk thing, it actually reminds me of something children who are subjected to neglect oftentimes resort to eating things that aren't food. it's called pica and it's an eating disorder that some have for other reasons, even in places where they have actual food. i was in a psych ward for a little bit and my roommate had pica. when the staff forgot to bring her a snack, she started eating crayons. like that was the obvious alternative. (this is completely irrelevant but i tried one, did not enjoy 0/10) my roommate was in the foster care system for a long time. it's common for those in foster care to be severely neglected, not be given their own clothes or only have one outfit, and not be given the opportunity to get basic services like hair cuts. foster kids are extremely likely to be abused while in the system, leading to many having very standoffish personalities (understandably so) and be much too mature for their age, or at least, a lot less childish. some use fantasies and imaginations as an escape, but others are extremely pessimistic and refuse to entertain any sort of "make believe" games. i say all of this to explain that it is my personal theory (two years after the game came out while stuck inside during quarantine binging game theories) that susie is a foster child - no home in the town - signs of neglect - eating disorder behavior - baggy and ripped clothes - unkempt hair - hard demeanor - fronted hatred of kris' game while still clearly enjoying the fantasy world and playing along in her own way *TLDR* susie shows a lot of signs that she's a neglected foster kid via her personality type, eating disorder behavior, and lack of home in the town but that's just a theory, a deep hatred for the broken foster care system's consistent abuse of children theory (EDIT) i forgot kris is adopted! could explain why they let susie play with the world that is clearly so personal to them; they could tell susie was in foster care and/or saw themself in susie due to similar life experiences

This theory doesn't explain the egg. A man gives you the egg in the dark world and vanishes. The egg is an item that can be brought back from the dark world and the egg interacts with the "real world". It duplicates in Asgore's refrigerator. This is proof that the dark world is not imaginary. Also the knight is likely Gaster as Seam makes a reference to lab entry 17 when talking about the knight. "And my view of the world has become darker, yet darker."

There is also Susie's dialogue as well. Based on what she says once the two of you return to the normal world, it seems to strongly imply that what they experienced was in some way real. (Also I would hate it if Ralsei and Lancer weren't real and just figments of Kris & Susie's imagination.)

I don't know if anyone, let alone matpat, will actually read this, but a couple of non-theory things I've noticed or realized: 1) Rouxls Kaard's name is an awful pun. I keep hearing people say "ruxles," "roxles," or "rooxles," but I don't think they realize that roux is a word, or that the word roux is pronounced like "roo.". I'll let you put the rest together. 2) Going along with the card puns is the reason Lancer has a bicycle instead of a motorcycle. Because Bicycle is the biggest playing card manufacturer out there. These both made me groan when I realized them. 3) I pointed this out last week on some other video, so idk how many other people have noted, but the windows in your house on the bottom floor are just scaled down versions of the Undertale promo art (i.e. Papyrus and Frisk, Frisk and Flowey, etc., standing in a ray of light) Also, wondering how much is Kris's imagination, and how much is Kris's imagination combined with Gaster's interference to create a temporal/spatial anomaly, given that your phone in the dark world, and the bunker in the light world, both make that noise.

⚠️I HAVE A THEORY!!!!⚠️ So, Ralsei is an anagram for Asriel. Susie is an anagram for Issue And Kris is an anagram for Risk (that one may not be intentional, but you get the point.) The person I want to talk about is Susie. As you said in the video, Susie probably doesn’t gain much from home. However. I want to point out that Susie becomes absolute amazing friends with Lancer in the dark world. Lancer, from the way I see it, has an abusive father. If you’re right in this world being a game, then maybe Lancer is someone Susie made up in the game, and she actually has an abusive father. That would explain why she’s so mean and cruel all the time. That’s all she grew up with. Also, the scar that the Chaos King gives her at the end of his battle, was always there. It was given to her from her father. Her long hair was just covering it up. This is why she had such an emotional bond with Lancer, and why she couldn’t kill him. She connects so much to him because, if she made the character, she (metaphorically) is him. She doesn’t want to get hurt anymore. Her home abuse translates to the game her and Kris play. Thus why her name is an anagram for Issue. She has a father “issue” at home. Anyway. That’s really all I have for this theory.. and...... I know you probably won’t read it.... but... yeah....
