The protagonist doesn't survive in the end. If you looked back at that white board in the room with Other Frankie, yes it does say to keep the protagonist alive but it also says when he should be eliminated, at Hex Havoc. While the 4th contestant written on the board is left blank. And if you noticed, at the beginning of the game, you see the 2 contestants on the right getting killed but...what happened to the other contestant on the left? They went back into the changing room where they put on the costumes and hid throughout the entire game until the protagonist was killed off. We didn't survive to receive the cash prize, the 4th unknown contestant did, the final part of the game after Hex Havoc was in their pov as he gets his reward

@ Other Frankie stopped Killer Frankie from killing the protagonist. If they were willing to keep us alive then all of the stuff that they said about the protagonist being 'special for making it so far' was just a lie for us to keep going. There were dead bodies EVERYWHERE including in places where contestants allegedly never gone before and even the viewers watching the killer game show know it.

That’s why other Frankie turns in our direction and looks surprised. We were supposed to die, but we didn’t. “You’re the first contestant we’ve ever had who won.” Plus, if this identity is true and we’ve been watching all the seasons, then we would know the truth and Frankie’s words wouldn’t matter anyways. And like Tom said, we would’ve studied this show for ages. We would know to escape by using the rails at the end.

The character we are playing is different from the character appears at the end of the game, we are playing as the player 3 where the one who appears in the end is the player 4 who is rigged to win. At the very start of the game you will see that player 4 will slowly walk back into the preparation room instead of running forward into frankie, not to mention it's clearly showed that in the whiteboard that us as player 3 are rigged to stay alive until the very last game of hexabox while the player 4 is empty.
