I dive into a Gameboy Advance SP for the first time to see if I can resolve an issue with it. I was told that getting into the Advance SP, is slightly easier than the Nintendo DS Lites I'm used to working on... Let's find out :D

I order to give the switch a lasting cleaning one really needs to desolder the metal bracket bridging the top of the switch and remove the plastic slider underneath to expose the metal contact pads which can then be scrubbed with a Q-tip and alcohol or contact cleaner. Be careful with the tiny metal butterfly contact attached to the plastic slider because it can come loose and can be extremely difficult to properly replace back into the slider.

Nice video. They're quite fun to work on. If you can get something to support when putting the ribbon back in that helps. Pop that cart open, you'll see if it is legit or not.

Thankyou :) Like the iPhone then, some people use cans then wrap elastic bands around them. Yeah will deffo have to get inside the cart. Is there anything in particular when in it I should know to look out for?

@@JoeyDoesTech if there is any black "blop" on the PCB of the game, it's most probably a reproduction. There are only very little Nintendo Cartridges which have this.

Mine turns on everytime but if I touch it slightly it will sometimes reset makes playing very difficult would this fix that issue?

Just watched this because I cleaned my GB Advance SP and it now does not turn on as it did before. I can't remember if the switch button was on OFF or not when I assembled it back together. If not, what are the consequences and how can I fix it? Thanks.

Nice job, IPA to the rescue. For me that looks like a legit Pokemon cart, it looks to have a reasonable amount of age on it, so not a modern repro, and there is the little number stamp in the label which indicates it's legit too.

What was the type of screwdriver you used for the first two screws? I can only unscrew the other four.

All were the same :) Triwing was used for the 6 on the back, the very first screw was just a normal Philips head. Hope this helps 😁

That's absolutely a legit copy of blue. You can tell by the fading at the top of the cart, plus the label. You'd clearly know if it was fake
