I’ve owned and used mine for over 3 years. Here are my opinions. 1. A lot of functional and intuitive compartments, 2. Smaller but does hold a lot of gear, if you don’t use a hydration bladder, 3. Outer molle-type straps helps a lot with attaching extra pouches, 4. CCW pouch holds my Glock 26 BUT adds bulk and makes packing the bag full more difficult (recommend) using a slimmer single stack sub compact pistol to maximize space, 5. Expensive, at $200+ 6. Now the kicker: This backpack is VERY uncomfortable. To call this bag “ergonomic” is ridiculous. The straps are rigid and the way they are angled pinches your shoulders near you collar bone. If your bag is packed with any weight at all, YOU WILL FEEL IT. Long treks with this bag will not be fun. It was hard to find out how uncomfortable this bag was after spending close to $200.

The Riftcore takes a lot of cues and inspiration from my Vanquest Falconer 27. They're almost the same bag.

Awesome bag! Thank you for the review, and your service! I have used other Maxpedition bags with great success, and decided to upgrade to the "Riftcore" For me, it's equipped as a "ready bag" / "72 hour bag" for the disaster team I am on - I hope to do a review soon of my roll out. Thanks again

I remember a (male) co-worker teasing me about always using the hip strap on my backpack. I eyed up his impressive shoulders and asked "who do you think got the *lower* body strength, muscle man?" Of course I rest the weight on my hips as much as possible!

in my opinion people say thats too expensive just get a cheap one....i collect fixed blade knives since i was about 10yrs old and always said why would anyone pay over a hundred dollars for a knife then i seen how easily cheap stuff fails and breaks so i started to learn about different steels and realized there is a huge difference in a 20 dollar knife and a 350 dollar bark river knife which is all i buy anymore keep in mind an edc loadout can quickly turn into a survival/bug out bag fast in a bad situation people like to think when something happens like earthquake tornados or hurricanes we will be home and ready to grab our gear but unfortunately you have what you have and you are where you are like at work school or in transit and cheap stuff will fail you when you need it most....just my opinion

If u go away from budget items the channels name would be misleading. Doing a comparison between budget and luxury items would be best. Just my thoughts.

I had a previous version of this Advanced gear Research sling that the top pouch had the soft touch rubber material and while sitting in the coolest for a few years it became super sticky and unusable. I contacted Maxpedition customer service about this issue, I got a reply basically said the issue is wear and tear, while I like Maxpedition and collected many bags from them I found this unacceptable. The bag sits in the closet for a few years is considered wear and tear, not material issue? This is suppose to be a rugged bag that can take the environment. I was expecting that your team admits the material selection issue and if I send back the barely used (maybe one time) and I get a replacement or repair unit with a cloth pouch. Instead I was told that this is wear and tear and is user issue. Very disappointed with how this issue is handled. Please remove the “advanced” from the AGR, because the name is not suitable for the bag

I bought that Riftcore and sent it back to amazon. I spent 20 Years in the army, half that with the 75th Rgt. Maxpedition has always had great products and between 5.11, Blackhawk and Mapedition, my battalion has used all three. Having said that, while the Riftcore looks cool and has all kinds of pockets and its actually set up pretty well, for some reason, Maxpedition changed the webbing from a high quality durable heavy duty webbing to the cheap , thin webbing that frays easy. This pack was such a huge disappointment. The webbing , the lack of renenforcment where the straps connect to the bag, was a deal breaker. I showed guys in my team the bag and we all had the same reaction. Sad sad sad. While civilians might not think its a big deal. those webbing straps make all the difference in the world and unfortunately, Maxpiditions new line of bags are going to be rejected by military simply due to the fact they went cheap on the components and won’t stand up to any kind of serious use. It would be great for around town if your not planning on using it a lot. But trust me, that cheap thin webbing will fall apart quick.

Daffy BIgbear I have been wondering as to the viability of that material for hard core use, and your single comment answered it for me. Like you, I also serve, and place great importance on the gear that I use, because I know my safety depends on the gear I use. It is sad that Maxpedition is leaving the line that has put their company on the tactical gear map, because that line is what works. Case in point, I have two Falcon II backpacks--it's my go-to pack, both in civilian world and military duty. Thanks again.

Ryan James Baliza how has the falcon 2 been treating you? I'm very interested in purchasing the falcon 2 or 511 72hr bag Mostly for a bug out bag that will be left in my truck. But I do want something extremely durable and takes Alot of abuse. Any advice helps!! Thanks for serving by the way guys 🤝🤙

I'm sick of maxpedition this max that. It's time maxpedition took a step down because all the shtf fan boys think it's the best. I'm not knocking u or ur vid. Just giving my opinion is all. There over priced and set up like crap. Half the pockets you can't use cause it takes away from another pocket. So what is the point

+preparedlife I love my maxpedition falcon ii. I've put it through hikes, camping, rafting, and goruck challenges and it just keeps on keeping on. I haven't used 5.11 for very long but I already still prefer maxpedition. The price doesn't bother me because I know my falcon will outlast most packs out there.
