We all know how One Piece power scaling works - characters don't show off until many years ahead. Mihawk has a World's Strongest title, everyone respects and recognizes him with every little action he does, has the strongest blade in the world, one of 2 known characters to forge a black blade, he pulls up on Shanks and has his whole crew on edge. There's more, like him waiting for someone to surpass Shanks, but it goes down into a rabbit hole due to unreliable info from databooks and the like. When comparing him to Shanks, he's objectively only slightly behind. If he had ambition and a crew with commanders he'd easily be one of the Emperors today.

Yep! People laughed at us for saying Mihawk was Yonko level. "BUT VISTA" "BUT HE GOT HIS SLASH BLOCKED BY JOZU". It never made sense to me that Mihawk would be weaker than an Admiral especially if you felt EOS Zoro would be as strong as prime Rayleigh or stronger. Also, he was 1 of 2 people with bladed weapons to have a black blade which was very significant to me. Also Shonen trope usually when they introduce the person one of the main characters are trying to defeat in the beginning that person is usually one of the strongest in the verse.

I agree 100% which is why i preferred the scan translation over the official this time. The TCB scans said "kingly ambition" and viz just straight up had king say, "you also wish to be a king?" to zoro, which to me doesn't make sense. It makes sense for zoro as he wants to be "king of the swordsmen" essentially, but others like katakuri and to a lesser extent people like hancock and ace really don't care about being any type of actual ruler, despite how harsh hancock is she just does it to keep her sisters and tribe safe. Not every conqueror wants to "be a king" but they were all born with a supreme will and drive to achieve their dream, no matter what that dream would've been

Mihawk's card saying "He waits for someone stronger than red haired shanks" literally says that whoever surpasses Mihawk, surpasses Shanks as well. He isn't afraid swing at Yonko, and Zoro, currently his lesser, blocked a combined blow from TWO Yonko and cut one twice, then scarred him. Anyone who says Mihawk isn't RELATIVE to the Yonko is skipping arcs lol. We're even literallly being told that to master Enma, Zoro's EVERY ATTACK has to from now on equal his roof-piece level Enma slashes and Daisen Sekai by comparaison, which PERFECTLY lines up with Stampede showing Mihawk's casual swings>Daisen Sekai on the meteorite. It literally has consistency that current Mihawk being casual>Zoro's strongest attacks. And if Zoro's strongest attack can injure and scar Kaido, then Mihawk being on the tier of Yonko isn't crazy.

Honestly a little confused why so many people didn't think Mihawk would have a strong grasp over all forms of Haki. Haki has been shown to always be an important part of swordsmanship, ever since Alabasta with Zoro vs Mr 1, when Zoro learns how to cut steel. Zoro could sense his swords, and knew where the stones would fall, and realized he could "hear" Mr 1s steel, which is what allowed him to cut him down. Later learning about black blades, how a swordsman should never allow their sword to chip, and the mere title of "World's Strongest Swordsman" really should have cemented this idea. Especially when we found out how fundamental Armament Haki is to Wano's combat system, a country where the overwhelming majority of fighters are samurai. Conqueror's is simply a natural progression of the desire to be the greatest at something. The ability follows the will, as it's been shown so far.

Mihawk is such a solitary personality, who has already proven themselves and surmounted the climb to being 'the greatest', which paired with the techniques we've seen from him, Conqueror's Haki is now feeling like a requirement for anyone to be sitting in a similar position. What happens if he peaked too early for what he was dedicated to conquering? Ronin syndrome. Hell, he didn't kill Zoro when attacked. Then trained him. Having the Navy attack him is a great device to make him active again, as well as giving him some fresh battle experience to warm up, before we get him playing an active part of the story (This whole 'strongest under the heavens' gives mad Monkey/Journey to the West vibes, which give such legitimacy to Zoro being a primary protagonist)

Mihawk has to be up there with the Yonko. If not, then he's really really close. Here's how I see it. Oden was able to cut Kaido with his haki and I'm sure he used advanced conqueror's to do so. Zoro will most likely surpass Oden by the end of the story. If Mihawk is Zoro's final opponent, wouldn't it make sense for Mihawk to be able to cut Kaido as well? Obviously Kaido is stronger now than when he fought Oden and that's exactly what I'm saying. Mihawk is a monster in his own right. I'd put him up there with Shanks. If we go by Kozoboro's explanation, saying swords aren't cursed but people are just too weak to use them, then that would speak volume as to how much of a beast Mihawk really is. That means Oden being able to tame a sword like enma means he was an absolute beast. Zoro is taming and using enma no problem and he's still not as strong as Mihawk. That's saying something

I always thought Mihawk was yonko caliber. A man that floats around in a coffin going wherever the damn hell he pleases and willing to face any top tiers other than shanks for personal reasons. Honestly that in combination with his title of world's strongest swordsman has had me thinking he is potentially top 5, it's hard to really accurately place the top 5 when so much is still unknown about people like Dragon and really how any 1v1 between any of the top 10 could realistically go either way depending on how their powers match up. They are all monsters in their own right but currently without seeing any feats from Dragon I can't in good conscience keep him in my top 5 dead or alive list. I think I'm currently feeling Prime Whitebeard at number 1. Roger at number 2. Kaido at number 3. Shanks at number 4. And Mihawk at number 5. If I was to include Prime Garp on this list he would likely take the number 3 slot edging Mihawk out of the top 5 but as he is currently alive still I am going to rank him at his current age. While we have heard a lot about Garps major feats, I would like to see more before I could definitively place prime Garp. I also am neglecting to add Rocks to this list as we don't know enough about him other than that he captained almost all of the major players in the New World pre-marineford. And that it took Roger and Garp working together along with the assistance in some way of Prime Whitebeard. Because of how vague that situation is and how many other elements are potentially in play, I just can't say with certainty that it was because of Rocks alone that they struggled. He had an insane lineup so it's hard to imagine him not being a contender for Strongest of all time, but maybe he was more "the man with the plan" and it was just so convincing he had all these big names join up under him.

Nothing changes for me I have always held MIhawk in the highest of regard. Oda literally put it there that he was a Rival of someone as monstrous as Shanks. This isn’t like Moriah and Kiado. These guys still hold each other in high regard and their personality’s is telling. Oda even have them share the same birthday. MIhawk have one of the 4 world renounce titles. Oda doesn’t give those titles out lightly. Everyone with such a title is a top tier.

What if Haki in absolute mastered form can do stuff like in wuxia martial art novel and magic/attributeless spells. Mihawk has wuxia sword technique. Shanks has attributeless magic. (Like he could throw haki blast out of his hands or do aoe dps with his conqueror). Ashura would be a wuxia style sword technique. Of course, it wouldn't be as ridiculous as the stuff in these garbage novel. But, you'd have more mid range contacless technique. (Where people use haki like water in a hose)

I think Mihawk specializes more in observation haki, it's all in there in the nickname “Hawk Eye”. He probably has all form of haki including conquerers haki but his specialty is in observation haki that makes Katakuri looks cute while Shanks on the other hand also has all forms of haki but his specialty is in conquerers haki which can rival Mihawk's observation haki.

Mihawk always wanted to be the strongest swordsman he got it but eventually grew bored of it, that’s why now he’s waiting for someone stronger than Shanks to finally give him that thrill again Also I’m a person who firmly believes that Yonko >= OG 3 Admirals, Even in Marine Ford whenever the admirals fought WB solo they always seemed to damage him more than he did them, even when he finally let loose against Akainu, Akainu got right back up dug himself up and proceeded to fight every commander, WB on the other hand got a hole in his face and head from Akainu. I believe that all the top 10 fighters are on a similarly level, if they all fought individually 10 times some would win 6, others would win 5,4, or 3but they’re ultimately on a very similar scale. I firmly believe Mihawk could beat Kizaru at least 7/10 times, beat Aokiji 6/10 times, beat Big Mom 6/10 times, I believe he can beat Shanks, Kaido and Akainu 5/10 times, that’s how I scale them at least.

I think the Mihawk vs Shanks debate was allways from a point of misunderstanding. They have allways, in my oppinion clearly, been shown as rivals and equals, doesnt matter who wins after the fight cause they are gonna have a 10 days battle anyways more than likely. Or not, but the point is that the story and the characters themselves present each other as equals. Both of them are at the TOP OF THE WORLD as Mihawk said. So of course they are BOTH haki MONSTERS, thats the whole point, they are rivals and equals. Any argument saying the contrary is just mental gymnastics to make your favorite character win.

It makes so much sense BDA Law is surpassing his peers. He stayed the most humble and the most true to himself and he always interacts with his fans. Sometimes he be bs-ing, but he stayed the most true to himself from what I can see from the screen. He's more or less the same everywhere, whether that be discussions with other KZbinrs, twitch streaming (his best content IMO), or making those once in a blue One Piece skits on here. Given how prominent swords are in the OP verse, for one man to be given the title of the strongest sword user is nothing to scoff at.
