Despite Pagon's brutal methods and intensity, he wasn't a bad person. He kept Karyat under control and kept the country fair and adjust. He wasn't a psychopath like Antón Castillo or Vaas, he cared about his people, letting the commoners and tribals live in peace and even gave Ajay multiple chances and was patient. Heck, he even took Ajay to his mother's grave for the funeral and let him join on the war to bond in the secret ending cause he's his step-father. The Golden Path caused the most problems and tension because he took the throne by force, and wasn't royal descent. They were the main antagonists. Mohan killed Pagans daughter anyway, causing him to be so destructive in the first place. In the endings, Sabal created a dysfunctional militia to rule the country, literally putting martial law, and Amilita made a Front that puts people to slavery and recruits Child Soldiers. Pagin let the people live how they want, just making technically a military state. Pagan even looked down on how dysfunctional they were sometimes, I.E The intro, where he killed the commander who fired on the bus due to rebel activity, when he said "Stop", not "shoot", knowing the innocent casualties. So in all, Pagan was smart and a good leader, he was just misunderstood and was pretty much fearless. The Golden Path just ruined him.
@johnjan992 жыл бұрын
It's difficult to know what pagan's rule was like before Lakshmana was killed, but most of the evidence we have in the game doesn't support him being a good ruler, from the constant talk of pillaging villages from his troops, the imprisonment of noore(who isn't shown to have any connection to the golden path), the number of times you are saving civilians from slavery and prostitution, the killing of the chef and his family after the player leaves in the beginning. The greatest evidence I'd say supporting your point is that before lakshmana was murdered we see through mohan's journal that pagan was willing to talk to the golden path and work towards some sort of peace but again the game gives very little detail of how he wanted to rule To address your points, we can see through his propaganda that it isn't exactly accurate to say pagan is leaving the people alone as the propaganda seeks for the people to leave their own ancient religions and treat pagan as god, as for the bus scene it is more likely he was more concerned about ajay getting hurt than any innocent casualties. This isn't to say amita and sabal are any better if at all but I think that is the point, there is no real right answer. The best ending is still probably staying with pagan because you will eventually be given the country but will people trust you after they see your connection with pagan? It's still not perfect.

I can't accept that Ishwari didn't love Pagan at all. It totally destroys the narrative they set up in Far Cry 4. She didn't leave on a whim, she literally wrote that note - the one he framed in the palace - telling him she'd always love him. Pagan and Ishwari being in love with each other was the entire framework of the game, the point that drove home the idea that Mohan was really the villain all along, and that Pagan was more of a father to Ajay than him. It's _inconsistent_ and out of character for her. Maybe this is all just Pagan's guilt manifesting... This is my copium lol. If anything, he's the *least* forgiveable. He's an egocentric megalomaniac whose only desire is to own everything and remake all in his image. He wanted Ishwari for himself and himself alone because she's a great prize for a King, he called his daughter a "prop" unironically (and likely only loved her because she was half himself), and everything in his world is made to accentuate his love for wealth and himself (the copious amounts of gold and bright colors). All his redeeming qualities that he's ever shown are the mask we're picking the pieces of in the DLC: underneath it, it's him and *just* him. @chiquitadave33042 жыл бұрын
Personally I think that Pagan was the better person to side with when it came to farcry 4. While he may have been a ruthless dictator of Kyrat, he didn't go to war with any outside country. He stockpiled nuclear weapons sure, but he didn't press that button to launch them. He tried to open talks with Mohan and see if there was a peaceful option to the GP threat. Another thing, Ajay, the son of Mohan, Pagans worst enemy. He treated him like a son, made sure he wasn't killed by his people, offered him the country, helped put his moms ashes with his half sisters, and then teamed up with him to "Go shoot some goddamn guns". This wasn't even his kid, worse yet, this was the kid of the man who killed his daughter. Yet instead of taking that out on Ajay, he treats him like his own. The GP talks endlessly about how awesome Ajay is, but doesn't give him any real freedom. He is their lackey, their muscle, their trained dog to do whatever they tell him. They take control of Kyrat, and either turn it into a drug infested wasteland, or a group of religious nut jobs who worship a child. Either way, the country is worse off than if Ajay had never joined the GP in the first place. At least if you side with Pagan, Ajay, someone not corrupted by power (at least yet) would have access to those nukes. I guarantee you with 100% confidence, that Ajay would never launch those nukes. Sabal or Ammita would though and probably did.

No, not actually an identity disorder but more like wrong mentality on how to approach things. He LOVES his family, but not exactly loving them more than himself but rather loving them the same as himself, but he's a huge egomaniac trying to prove something he won't ever accomplish. He loves his family, but between loving himself and loving hia family, he was torn between the two to the point of indecision (which lead to Laskhmana being killed and Ishmani with Ajay leaving). He was saddened by this, so he had no choice but to be a bit crazy since he lost something as important as his egomaniac self. With Golden Path, Yuma, and America pressuring him more, he became more of a tyrant before Ajay went there

I kind of like the ambiguity of this DLC. Despite what people say, Pagan Min is -ABSOLUTELY- a bad person. Self-Absorbed, Narcissistic, Egotistical, Sociopathic, Violent; the whole nine yards. He is not a saint, but that's the point. Neither is anyone else; none of the faction leaders at the very least. Not Amita, not Sabal, not Mohan, etc. All of them are evil, but the point behind Pagan is he is arguably the lesser of all given evils. He is still evil, and in this DLC, he comes to grips with that, struggles with that. Yes, he did love Ishwari, in his own way. In the way that a self-absorbed, narcissistic son of a Triad Boss could love someone. But that love was not pure and innocent. There were layers to it. His (at least initial) desire to accept Ishwari into his palace, wasn't out of love. It was out of power. Control. And a desire to destroy his enemy, Mohan, completely and utterly. And for a time, Ishwari was a tool to help him do that. What is a greater way to crush your enemy, than rizzing up his wife? Pagan Min knew this. He knew Ishwari's ties to Mohan. Knew who she was. Knew she was a spy for Mohan. And still he accepted her into his palace. You think out of love? No - not at first, at least. It was flex on Mohan. And it worked. Pagan knew deep down Ishwari would likely get into terrible trouble the moment that Lakshmana was born. Knew the hell on earth she would be subjected to, once Mohan found out. But he dashed the thoughts away, and focused purely on the satisfaction on how it would destroy Mohan. And in the end, it was his and Ishwari's daughter that died for it. Ishwari likely knew this. Knew that Pagan Min could have saved them both - he certainly had the power to do it. But chose not to. So she fled. She loved Pagan more than Pagan loved her. And once the dust settled. Years pass. Mohan's allegedly dead, Ishwari in the US, and Pagan left to his thoughts, only then, in hindsight and when distance has built up, does Pagan realize he really did love Ishwari. That she was the purest soul and the most beautiful form of love he's ever experienced. More valuable than even cucking his enemy. And the time he was with her, he was the happiest he had ever been.
