@@xXRedBuLL13Xx You probably used too much tape or didn't wrap it tight enough. And, yeah the taped part more me takes almost as long at the rest of the cable. If the tape is kind of fat in the paracord and you're having trouble moving the cord over the tape try twisting the paracord one way then the opposite way as you pull it across the tape. I realize this comment is 10 months long and this likely won't help you but, I ran into this exact problem today so, I figured I'd give an answer.

Hey Rocker! Thanks in part to your videos, I've started my own modding journey. I wanted to share something that I found while sleeving my own paracord the other day. Instead of using packing tape, I took all six pins and put them into the cut off end of a small pipette. It made it easier to get the paracord on to cable initially and made the process really smooth and strain free. Thanks for setting me on the right path initially!
@RockerGaming3 жыл бұрын
Dude thats awesome! Can you please link me to the pipette? I'd like to check it out!! Cheers!
@cerenar.3 жыл бұрын
So I'm afraid I have some bad news. It's not possible to get the pipettes that I've been supplied with unless you know someone in veterinary medicine. :/ My mom happens to work for a vet, and they got passed on to me. I tried calling the supply company, but it was no dice to order the pipettes individually. The best I can do is tell you that their diameter through the middle is 0.25", their length is 3.5", and they hold 0.5 mL of liquid. I may try experimenting with some other options off of Amazon to try to find a more permanent solution in the future, but here's the link of what I think will work best if you feel bold enough to try your luck first. Link: www.amazon.com/Disposable-Transfer-Droppers-Volumetric-Essential/dp/B07SKV7ZJD/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=1ml+pipette&qid=1616719943&sr=8-3

Followed your vid to paracord the OldSkool gamecube controller as a fun project, the inner cable on that controller isn't shielded and has the 6 smaller cables inside of it instead. Was a real pain figuring out how to de-sleeve until I realized that you can just snip the sleeve and grab all 6 cables and pull them thru the sleeve almost as if you were using the 6 cables to cut it along a seam. Once that was done, getting the paracord on wasn't too bad, I thought the packing tape was a solid recommendation. I also soldered the paracorded cable back onto the controller before putting the plug back on the jack lol Other than that, pretty cool project and a big THANK YOU for this vid to help me thru it!

I prefer to put a heat shrink tube that fits over all the pins and then use a slightly bigger one that extends to the copper shielding. also something odd I noticed is that one Paracord I had just didn't work at all, I think it has to do with the material used and because of that it stretches less and can't fit over the cable. Those light in there are those meant to be always on when the controller is plugged in? ive been looking for a mod like that to do
@tskaggs845 жыл бұрын
Im not sure if someone else mentioned it but have you tried using 1 of the paracord inner strings tied to your cable to use like a fish tape? Not sure if it would work for this situation but a fish tape works great for pulling electrical wiring through a old half filled conduits.

Tim much appreciated! I wish it worked, would make this SO much easier, unfortunately the paracord is a bit too elastic and it doesnt work. I appreciate the comment!!

Where do you get your buttons from? Also I see lot of ppl with colored shells where do you get different color replacement shells?
@josueguevara33864 жыл бұрын
I should do something like this since I added the custom buttons first, but to do that, I'll need to find a third hand tool. Where can I buy the third hand tool?

8:07 this guy rolls. If you slip out the white center strand couldn’t you just tape or attach the cable to one end of the white center and slip it through in one motion?

I was also wondering that !

The way the paracord stretches and shrinks when you pull it make it difficult to pull the old guts out. Idk if you have some fish tape that's slim enough might work though.

I tried this once with no luck. Like israel said the sleeve doesn't cooperate very well when trying this. I also tried using a thing called a bodkin (used for sewing) with no luck. The packing tape method does seem to work the best.

Thanks a ton for this guide! If you do happen to cut some of the copper shielding are there any concerns aside from making it hard to put the paracord on? How would you remedy this?
@RockerGaming5 жыл бұрын
No problem thanks for checking it out! I would use the super glue as I showed in the video. Worst case you can always just cut it off. I have sleeved many controllers without the copper shield and have not had issues.

Hey there, I just installed the paracord and it looks sick! However, when I tap jump (ssbm) I do an aerial to the right. Do you know what could be causing this? Didn’t notice it before the mod
@Spyrospeed99Gaming2 жыл бұрын
Might be a bit late but hopefully you'll see this: I did the whole process and physically the cables look great! However my controller now has random input drops, inputs that I never put in, and sometimes just wont connect. Any chance you might know what's going on? Thanks!

You know I dont know the size I bought off hand but 550 paracord is 5/32" so something slightly bigger than that.

How long does the paracord need to be for a smash ultimate controller, dont want to buy less than I need.
@dolphin67824 жыл бұрын
You should get the size above 10 feet. I bought 10 feet for mine and I have to shorten the cable as a result.

How did you remove the c clamp at the plug end? That sucker is on there good.

I normally go for needle nose pliers, two pair and it comes right off!
