cubivore is one of my favorite games of all time, its so weird and unique and unlike anything else ive played before or since, and it makes me so happy to see someone talk about it for something other than its absurd price! (also i speedrun this game , if you have not checked out the cubivore speedrun scene PLEASE do it is very cool)

Just want to say thank you for all your research on the studio . I wanted to do videos on old games from my childhood and I had Jungle Park on PC but never managed to find more about it, it is a really obscure game and you gave me the most info on the origins of the game .

Great video! Very well detailed account on the development and distribution to North America. I actually owned this game, complete in box, for years not too long ago, paying a modest $40 for it in 2010 on Amazon. I sold it for $670 on Ebay earlier this year. I had a strange relationship with this game. I played it all the way to the weird level that requires you to know that you need every single mutation to get past. That was when I shut it off. Played it again years later and felt it was too easy and not worth the time or effort to get every mutation just to confront the Killer Cubivore, so I gave up again. I have no regrets selling it. The money was well worth it.

I find it weird how the picture of Matsumoto-san has him bruised up and it's just. not mentioned

There's not really a story behind it that I found at the time of research. It's the first photo that populates when searching his profile and used for his visualouge web page. There may be other photos of people who look similar, but the resolution was so small or there wasn't anything that outright confirmed the person in the photo. All in all, if Mastumoto-san was comfortable enough to use that photo (and others similar to it) in official interviews, it's good enough for me to use.

Cubivore and Gotcha Force are both my favorite games on the GC, and not just because they're caluable now 😅 I really liked seeing how these game devs represented evolution and diversity in species, and then how that changed through the game was fun! And Gotcha Force I just loved for how it rolled all sorts of variety into the collectible toys you could build your team with. And giving you opportunities to fuse two toys together, or just earn every single enemy borg as a playable character was really awesome as a kid.

I legit like Gotcha Force too. When I'm not swamped with graduate school, I'd like to revisit it. I think the issue Gotcha Force had is that it can be easily compared to Custom Robo, which is far more accessible due to name, availability of units, and price. GF was more "dynamic" from it's camera positioning and had the potential to be something far more than what it ended up being.

That still sounds expensive compared to what can be found online. I would hope that it was CIB at the very least.
