I'm 40 and I didn't recognize most of the rules they were using here. "Jumping in" and "challenges" were not a thing when I was a kid. If they were, nobody I ever played with knew about them or told me. It's possible the rules have changed over the years. Not sure though.

I feel like the most commonly used rules don’t use either of those (or the 0-7 rule) but do include the “draw until you can play” rule, so obviously it’s the preferred way to play by most people so I don’t know why Hasbro is so stubborn about the “correct” rules and doesn’t change them to the most common way and keep the others as alternates.

It's a finite deck, one standard deck of Uno cards (or, whatever pack you're playing with, whatever extra cards that has), and cards are reshuffled into the draw pile the moment they're played. I know this because Mark and co. drew so many cards that they depleted the draw pile, and it vanished. It only reappeared after someone played a card, and you'll never guess what they drew from the draw pile then (it was the blue reverse card that had been played, as I recall) Fun facts.
