Good point about this, many supports really miss out what they truly are supposed to be doing... but there is also a part of supports that by "I can't have influence on the game" actually mean "it's late game, you can't expect me to do much". Yes, Supports can do still a lot in late game and they have to do so (otherwise they wouldn't be playing the game), but what they can do is limited. CM cank slow down the enemies, block them in place for them to beaten down by their cores, use their items to support the team during the fights and throw that Freezing Field and wreck the enemies.... but she is still CM, a squishy INT support. She can't win those fights directly, she needs the cores to do their job as well. And if you played a decent-to-good match in early and mid game and still playing to win in late game, just to see your safe lane Slark get out of the high ground, getting smashed by stuns and brutally killed just to yell at the team "why you didn't follow me?" and say that he doesn't have buyback ready... you just want to scream to him "I am a support, what do you expect me to do if you are fucking diving outside of my range and mobility?" Yes, there is a ton of Supports players bitching and playing bad, but there is also a ton of cores throwing games because they didn't pay enough attention to their moves and blame it on the supports, indipedently from what they did in the whole match.

This video reminds me a couple CM games I had a few years ago. One game we had a carry void and we were losing until I, after dropping a lucky ult from accidentally misjudging my blink range and ended up stuck in the middle of trees, decided "me be carry" and helped us turn it around to win. The second I was solo laning against a Tusk and Abbadon and somehow I dominated that lane. Even now I look back and think "how did I do that?" XD

haven't played her as much in dota 2, but i do get plenty of triples+ with her. I spammed her in dota allstars in TDA, and especially throneit(which was mmr for public games where they divided the teams up based on winrate). In throneit, I had over a 90% winrate 100+ games played only playing CM or TA.. and I got countless triples and triple triples+ with her. i can't remember if they implemented the new sounds for 4-5+ kills yet back then, for the longest time it'd just say triple kill over and over again. Back then though I'd always solo lane her, and rush the invis item into blink dagger. She was stupid good when she got ahead in the right hands. There was no glimmer cape at the time, but Lothar's or whatever the invis item was called worked just as well...not to mention it was great for right clicks early on. By the time I got the blink dagger it was basically GG.. the game would very rarely last long enough for me to get a third item. Throneit was great too because it was the first time pub games would stay 5v5 for the whole match.. people seemed to actually care.

0/10 didn't take the attack speed talent 20 minutes prior in anticipation of cm rapier and thus did not take. whenever I play 4 no one has expected me to buy wards, I buy them if our 5 hasn't got them at first night for some reason and ill buy sentries etc. vs invis heroes (and also just generally for dewarding) but 4 and 5 are not equal at all. pos 4 often have a core item they want to get early, like lina euls or shaker blink, also I think its more effective if one support gets 1 item and the other one doesnt, otherwise you just have two heroes halfway towards an item. ofc if your 5 doesnt buy wards, then your pos 4 probably should, but if my 5 isnt buying wards it doesn't matter what pos i'm playing, ill buy them

4 should help with wards when 5 can't. also 4 should have at least a dust ready as he is more closer to the fight than 5 should be. personally I hate it when 4 buys wards instead of items when I could get them. what 4 should do though is help to plant the wards and defend them, it's painful to secure an area and see the whole team tp out chasing some sneaky fuck on the other side of the map and see the enemy deward your precious wards (late game)

@@murphy3248 I did look it up; dying to neutrals gives you a minimum respawn timer of 26 seconds (same as being level 6). However, he dies at 5:26 to the tower with a 10 second respawn. If he lets the second mud golem punch him at 5:17, he saves the time walking to tower, loses 7 seconds total but doesn't give Abaddon 134 gold.

generally you stand back and press spells and try to not stay in position. you need to know where you should ward and predict where the enemies ward. if you remove all the enemy vision, they will see a dark map and they can't play properly. know what to do in lane. just watch pro player replays and try to imitate them. sometimes 5s can even get more farmed than 4s and even 3s if you have a good game. dewarding gives a lot of gold

positioning, basically you should stay a blink range behind your carry or back line, that way you don't feed at the start of team fight and can run in, cast glimmer and force stuff and your spells and zone out, wait for cd and do it again if possible. my only problem is when the 4 doesnt carry sentries in late so I get picked off when I try to place wards before fight, working on it but still a common reason for my deaths as team often lacks items to save me

AFAIK there is a time penalty to die to a creep-camp instead of an enemy tower. I experienced this lately to have a 15s respawn timer as lvl 1 or 2 denying myself to neutrals, he has 10s denying himself to an enemy tower lvl 3. So this time can have impact, and the gold is split to the enemy and less then a creep (for everyone).

You would have to pay to know where they were placed, but they certainly were. But the video was not focussing on warding but to play not too passive as a support, which, in the end, led to a victory. (Willow, the position 5 on the other team had a "clear" support build, but that did not help, did it?

There are some point in the game in which you badly needed a ward, like taking enemy towers and rosh, and smoke gank. Like you said they are high mmr player, that means they have high degree of map awareness to the point that they can determine if enemy is roshing even if they have no ward on the pit.

So, question. I play in the 1k bracket. Out of the almost 800 games I have, I only have about 30 or so ranked, so I believe that's about where I belong. I normally play as pos4 or 5. Support comes natural to me, I really enjoy that role. My question: Carries on the team are constantly diving past T2, T3 towers for kills that aren't objective oriented kills, and normally get destroyed, then the enemy team pushes to win. As a support around 1k MMR, how do I combat this? Am I wrong for not diving with them? Should carries even be diving T2s and T3s for kills? Am I in the wrong here? No, they really shouldn't dive. In some of Speed's videos, he explains SOME diving is good to enable rotation from the enemy team to waste their position but that's about it. In my games, if diving DOES happen, we stop it at tier 2 and don't go past it if we stay longer than a few seconds. Other than that, you don't follow the carries to their doom. All you do is, if you see this won't get anywhere, ping >Get back! at LEAST 4 times! If they don't listen, then they're at their own fault for their deaths. In that time, ward, stack, farm, etc, just don't waste time too much on their mistakes if they don't listen to you. Heck, you could even push another tower if 5 are top, and you TP bot to help push a tower

Dude sometimes, it's not just about your carry having a good early game and him being fat. Sometimes the carries are idiots on what to do even though they're so fat. Like not going on an important teamfight or not participating in pushing.

I don't value 100 cast range as much as 250 hp talent. Maybe in games i play against highly burst line ups more often i feel like i'm dead more often and have less impact if i don't take it. I play a lot of dazzle so i'm confident in my team fight positioning as cm that i don't need items like aether lens as much as a blink dagger or force staff. I also like getting far ahead on Levels so i can just be a manly CM and not worry about whether or not their cores can kill me cause i know unless i afk they cannot or at least i'll make my death leave a sour taste in their mouth.

I play pos5, guardian 5. 20 pct of my carries mute me when I communicate that I am stacking and pulling. In my last game I stacked at 1:54 and started pulling at 2:15. My carry comes over to the small camp and starts farming it as I'm pulling, which cancels my pull. This happened while there were enemy creeps in the lane. What do I do in that situation. Also, I have had cores deliberately farm a camp as I'm stacking just to troll me.

Take the lane creeps while they hit jungle like a straight pepeg. Then you can get some better teamfight items like aghs on something like warlock.

What about when you have a tonne of impact as a support, you win your lane and win the mid game, give vision to your cores so they can safely farm and push your cores get free farm but they buy bad items and refuse to group up for objectives/ split push/ leave the jungle Sometimes it doesn't matter how big an impact you make as a support. The first minute of this video is a very 2 dimensional rant Dota is a 5man game, just because you CAN have an impact as a pos 5, you can still be left in a situation where 2-3 of your team members will not cooperate. Im also trying to understand your reasoning behind buying a manta style on CM as opposed to a lotus orb/ hex. Also, I understand blademail gives good stats and attack damage for int heroes.... is it really worth it with the 2000hp pool Thanks for reading. Hope you have some good answers and can teach me your thoughts.

Yes, bm with 2k hp was really good because weaver has less than 2k hp and he actually kills himself as you can see in the video, or at least make him think before hitting you. Also, keep sucking your cores and end up with tranquil wards and blame cores because they can't carry you. If you want to win in political games making your friends to agree and saying things like "yes, buddy , it's not your fault" rather than trying to win mmr, then it's your choice to lose mmr. Plus, his jugg was bad in the first 10 mins (maybe), but he is first in networth in the end of the game. I think jugg managed to recover so well because cm made so much space with his farm and didn't afk farm jungle with that. A cm that has more networth than their dp and supports, plus he uses his spells on cd is a threat to even weaver with bkb bm ult. You 1k mmr support gods should try to learn something instead of being robots playing your own ideas and not giving a fuck about how the game should actually be played. I can give you a slightly good answer behind everything you wrote there, but i don't want to give it too much attention. (maybe i was cocky idk) Good luck and i'm sorry if i'm too harsh on it, but it's one thing to do what sounds right and another thing to do what seems good in that specific game.

I have been insulted in a reply when I had not said anything to degrade the video maker, I was simply asking his thoughts on my views and seeing if he can educate me towards his decision making. I feel like the gold on blademail could have been on something better (force staff/ lotus) I also feel as if this position 5 relied on the dazzle to ward for them for the majority of the game, I do not believe this is good support gameplay and feel like this crystal has been played as a 4 and not a 5. Certain decisions were extremely greedy and actually damaging to teammates such as taking kills from cores. I also never said that I would insult a teammate based on decisions, I am simply stating what has happened in a fair few of my calibration games and giving reasons for why winning as a position 5 can be difficult even if you make an impact.

Ya there isn’t much you can do as a pos 5 support when your safelane Carry is a riki that goes roaming around the map at minute 2 leaving you in a lane alone. Or when your mid hero decides to feed mid at minute 15 because he chased a kill and gets outplayed. Being a support in lower ranks is shit
