Conglomeration is one of those ideas that keeps teasing "this time will be different" -- and it isn't.

Chris mentioned some industries and models working well. I think there is likely some reasonable amount of scale that does make sense and provides advantage. A good question to think about though.

@@GameMakersDev The line between "conglomeration" and "horizontal (or vertical) integration" is admittedly fuzzy. The later produces market power, however, while the former mostly produces debt lol.

This is quality stuff, thanks for that. Great overview - you clearly don't know much about how Embracer worked / tried to create synergies between their divisions and how they were successful for a long stretch but it was a good discourse from the outside. Do Stillfront next.

How so? The decentralized model is how multiple people including insiders have described the model. Folks within Embracer have told me that they have an informal leads group from different studios but otherwise it's pretty independent.
