Also found out survivors are so used to dodging the bottles if you throw an antidote directly at them, or in their path they'll avoid it. Only realizing too late it's a haste effect, so you get the buff and they don't.

When the Dev said "Play something else" and everyone memed it to high heaven, they seem to conveniently leave out that he said that in response to someone asking "I'm burned out with DBD, what do I do?" to which recommending another game is perfectly reasonable. Guess what, playing a game for 5 hours a day every day is gonna make you hate it after a while, no matter what game it is. But no, people just wanna keep with the circle jerk that this game they play constantly sucks. I personally like the new update (with possible exception to the UI) and I think they are taking the game in a good direction.

I find the Antidote to be useful in large maps. I pick a direction, throw the Antidote far ahead of me, and it's activated by the time I get there and gives me that little boost to get to where I'm going. I'm not sure if this is just a placebo or if the boost is helping, but I have noticed my Clown games have been less painful lately.

Devs arent lazy, theyre burning out. Im not gonna sympathize or vouch for them but you can tell theyve bit off more than they can chew. I'll acknowledge theyve broken the game and patched it back together in many ways that make you question why, however you have to acknowledge that they are CONSTANTLY working on shit, whether it be a new killer/map/survivor, if theyre reworking old projects, or re-laying out map chunks. I think the devs either need a break, or they need to reach out to the community so they can analyze and work out these issues. The clown update is a mixed bag, the piss bottle is something new but it comes off as Pre-patch leatherface Chili, it doesnt do enough (or anything) to justify its means however with a little community ingenuity it can be remade. I personally would rather the bottles either accelerate the survivors insanely to where they cant control their movements (call it stumble and make it act like deadhard but without the I-frames), or have it scramble or delay inputs. Its literally a killer who uses chemicals to kill. his powers should slow, disorient, confuse, and ultimately hinder his prey, i cant imagine why the 75 year old killer would bring antidotes, he already has the smokers cough so theyre clearly not gonna be for him

I wish that a clown rework was more kinds of concoctions with unique effects, like a lightly acidic cloud that would deal damage if you stayed in the area too long, or a muscle relaxant that would greatly reduce the sound of the terror radius for a bit. I know that might just be more compensators, but it could be a neat approach.

Poor BHvr, they really work hard changing 5 perks every 3 months, and if we're lucky recolor a bottle. Good thing that in a $20 game, we have a $10 battlepass, over $150 worth of characters, and $1000+ micro-transactions. I don't _hate_ the devs, but their actions are so frustrating. I love the game, and so do they, but they have massive fucking problems that shouldn't take years to fix. I wish this game had competition, that way BHvr could be motivated to be more proactive.

The speed bottle addition is so conditional in my experience it can hurt you instead of help you in multiple ways. It is almost a nerf, and they even said that they thought Clown was ‘underrated’ meaning this is probably intentional trying To make people think ‘oh look how good clown is’ when it wasn’t a buff. Edit: also, I did play quite a bit of clown before the rework, and was able to do pretty well against good red rank survivors. Even being good with clown, I don’t agree he’s ‘underrated’. He needed this update to actually make him stronger. I think if they made it so the power didn’t work against him constantly with the speed boost and Addons, and made it so that the speed activated for him without delay, this would fix his main problem which is lack of mobility.

I mained Clown for a while because I finally get the power fantasy of farting in the faces of annoying survivors, and I did so even before he became a functional killer. I'll let you in on a schizophrenic tech: Bottles only determine what's in them once they hit a surface, so if you throw two purple ones and then switch after the first hits, you technically get the most efficient way to distribute both your gasses. Also, the delay before the tonic becomes yellow is bullshit and shouldn't exist.

I used to play the clown a lot. Not so much since the rework. The antidote takes too long to take effect to use in a chase so I chucked it in the bin but since half his addons are for the antidote, it really makes him useless to me. His power used to be that people underestimated him and in close quarters, like the meat packing plant, he really did well with the blind effect addon when in the lower areas of the map. I still play him on occasion but he's like regular soda, ok once in a while but too much will cause you health problems.

You know his second bottle could’ve just been corrosion on gens like a little mini long range ruin (long as the cloud is active) make it tied to the cloud so it continues regressing after it ends, but can’t use it on an already regressing gen. Or yeah just have him drink the tonic and get a large speed buff, but then have him vomit as a cooldown if you use it too much. Like a heat gauge that billy has. BUT i get their worry about reworking him so drastically that it might make him broken or step into being similar to other killers

I think your mini long range ruin idea is pretty cool and could probably be added to the Afterpiece Tonic effect. The gas cloud currently lasts 10 seconds with no way to increase its duration with add-ons, so the regression percentage would need to be at least be 200% (which would only add 5 seconds more repair time for a single survivor). Additionally it might be nice if the Afterpiece Antidote gave an extra buff similar to a few stacks of Fire Up.

I played clown a shit ton before and after rework, and I for one wanna say it's the most fun ive ever had with him. Before clown was fun because "lmao, they got 4k'd at 5 gens by the fat guy in the elephant costume". Now it feels like I'm actually winning because I'm good and not because survivors are stupid (not that they still are 70% of the time). Nothing feels better than dropping fast gas at a pallet, faking the break, and spiriting at survivors while seeing them through walls and hitting them with slow gas, it feels really really fun to get just one hit, and since you can get 6 bottles and reload in 3 secs, you can do that much more often. Also, this video was good, but you did miss a few things about the new stuff. First off, the cloud for the speed gas is alot smaller than the other one, and trying to bait survivors to run into it isnt actually something you need to do (which ill mention later). Also, because of how it works as loops, if you throw it on the ground near one side of a loop, it wont float over the other side, meaning you can keep the speed all for yourself while slowing the survivor on the other side. And, since the gas turns yellow after 2.5 seconds, if you fully charge a bottle and throw it in front of you while chasing a survivor, if it lands right on/near them, it will turn the second you get there and the survivor will already have run off. My build for clown rn is pretty basic, just bbq ruin undying and STBFL, but the amount of times those stacks have saved me is insane, since its so easy to get a first hit as clown, if someone is still blurred or messed up by the slow, they can run right into a rock and instantly go down. also, from one ps4 player to another, turn up your sensitivity got DAMN. that looks painful. btw, throwing gas up to have it fall down isnt really that useful, i see you dong it a shit ton on like the game and red forest but its much easier to just learn how to throw bottles directly on survivors, or even better to throw it in front of them so they have to run thru the entire gas.

I finally found uses for the antidote that make it, and clown more viable. Before vaulting, or smashing a pallet, throw a bottle. You'll come out the other side hasted. Small speed boosts can add up. You can also throw the bottle directly at a survivor, and if you're good at timing it'll spread happy gas just in time. The survivor, being a survivor, will try to dodge the bottle. But instead of dodging a debuff they're accidently dodging a buff. This knowlage has allowed me to come in clutch as clown more often than I'd expect.

I use antidote to get better use out of pop(pair it with tinkerer or something to know where to use your pop), and when you down someone i throw it at my feet by the time you pick them up you get the speed so you can get to the hook faster ( can be real good if there are no hooks nearby, less chance of them wiggling off). Also when you have to kick a pallet in chase throw it down before you break the pallet and after the pallet breaks you can catch up quicker and since it has a delayed activation they don't get the speed boost (kinda good when paired with brutal strength). on small loops body block the pallet then throw one of each bottles to catch them, throw the pink one at our feet and a antidote at them by the time you get around the smoke turns yellow so only you get the boost then if they go for the pallet they hit the pink and you get the hit (if they stay in the antidote to wait for the speed boost you will also get the hit aswell). Hope this made sense and can help some people who enjoy clown.

But I have to admit the injured animation looks bad Imo. I don’t mind everything else, but I really hate the new injured animation. I've been grinding shards to buy certain killers; Spirit, Oni, Blight, and Plague. When I heard the news that Clown was going to get a rework couple with the fact that the only killers I didn't have were Twins or Leatherface, I decided to buy him and I have to say that he is one of my favorite killers. I am fully aware of his weaknesses, but damn is he pretty fun to play as. As for my opinions on this "rework" the only good thing that came out of it was the 3 second reload time. There are some plays you can do with the antidote, but I find the slowdown tonic superior over the antidote. Since you only have 4 bottles at your disposal, you can run out pretty fast when switching between them. I would say give players a better incentive to use the antidote over the tonic, maybe buff the amount of speed you gain or the duration, and I would give him a 5th bottle at base. This may be a stretch, but I also feel like they should have given him a deep wound effect if the clown direct hits a survivor with the bottle. I don't know about you, but having a glass bottle shatter on you should make glass shards cut deep in your skin.

I played clown before hand and play him after. He isnt a good killer for winning games, though it can be done, but in my opinion he IS a good killer for practice and learning the game. His power is simple and straight forward. Its weak sure but not useless. His stats are ok and he's fun to play. All this allows people to focus on learning how to chase, mind game, and swing instead of focusing on charging a power or setting something up. He was my first killer to get a four hook and ive played alot of games where I didnt even use his bottles. He may not be powerful but he is definitely valuable for learning the game and teaching people not to rely on power

I don't play the clown too often, but I love going against him as survivor... I'm not great, so I don't like stomp all over clowns, but his chase music OH MUH GAWD it's the best music in the game and I love it. Honestly the sound designers and composers for this game don't get nearly enough love - the entire DbD theme is basically just Dies Ire, and the fact that they've managed to make unique themes and moods with it is pretty awesome. When I first got this game I remember trying to show my roommates the way the lobby music shifted instrumentation when you went from killer to survivor, but the track didn't restart it just morphed shadows of the colossus style. .... And now I'm way off topic. XD

Allowing Clown to down a bottle of tonic for a longer speed boost honestly would have been a FAR better rework then what they did, it would add that natural duality to bottles of "Do I spend one of my four bottles to get somewhere fast, leaving me with only 3 bottles for the chase, or do I risk not getting to the objective in time, but guarantee a full supply of ammo for when I get there?"

Hot take from a terrible killer main, It would be neat if a survivor effected by the gas had their vision blurred in a way that messed up their sense of movement, like a wavy effect like being drunk on tequila at a rave. It could make looping a lot more scary since unless they’re standing still it would be difficult to see which way the clown is walking for like .5 seconds, it could also cause someone to walk into a wall trying to run through a doorway, and ultimately just raising the skill/game knowledge needed to counter a clown that wants to suck on your finger.

You do raise some good points about behavior, it's quite obvious they care about the game, if they didn't the game wouldn't have 4 years by now, and mathieu was right if the "play another game" line was an advice on not getting burnt out but at the same time, the latest patches are so filled to the brim with bugs and weird decisions (ui changes and just everything about the afterpiece antidote) that i really can't blame most people for being so angry at bhvr, i really do want to see them being sucessful, it's just that they have being screwing up a lot lately and it just kinda feels like they have backed themselves into a corner where their design of perks fixing very specific problems other then just fixing said problem is getting "bloated" there are so many perks for so many problems, but at the same time there are only about 11 perks that are actually useful every match, i don't see how they could change it without taking the final fantasy 14 route of burning everything to the ground and starting anew (wich i think they did with deathgarden), but that's such a ballsy move, i'd be surprise if they actually did it

those moments where you down 7 times before the 1st gen is done then they all figure out that if they just hold W after you hit them and make a giant circle around the entire map you can never catch up to them even with the antidote because every structure is a big brick double window that forces you to not be able to get to them before they get to the next structure that has the same setup lined up in 5 big F-you middle fingers. Then 7 games in when this has happened every game today and every game the day before and think, "this can't be RNG, it has to be a curse"

I did play clown before the update and from just watching people play the new stuff for him, I can't say I'm too excited to play him anymore Not sure if having the jarate be helpful to survivors were a good idea or not. The new look of the bottle is pretty and the sound it makes aswell.

While clown is still weak, this buff is actually pretty good, & while it isn't alot of speed the bottles can still be used to traverse the map quicker, & when used with the purple bottles can let you get hits at loops way earlier than normal. Also yellow duration addons are definitely his best

the reason why when you bring bamboozle it never seems to work is because a survivor prob found a blocked window u vaulted and screamed into their discord voice chat BAMBOOZLE WATCH OUT and now the secret is out. when you don't bring it survivors knowing you don't have it will vault and not be carful about windows cuz they don't have to

the clown rework also did absolutely zero fixes to all the complaints survivors have been having abotu playing against him for all this years, in that playing against him is so one note and simple. even a killer a broken as spirit you still have more to the game than just press 2 and press space to drop pallet early, rinse and repeat 20 times while 3 other people rush the gens. all it did was made him stronger in chases, but not fixing where he's weaker.

He's always been fucked up, they've been slowly buffing him over time, giving him speed buffs, reducing his reload, removing the slow when you're throwing. He just get's countered hard by too much at this point. And his yellow bottles are so hard to use effectively that it's a useless change.

I just got dbd after watch Otz for a while and I’ve always loved the clown so I just had to buy. He’s actually quite easy to use and his purple bottles are really good in my opinion. Over all I think he’s solid.

The Clown is certainly not bad. I already got a hater just a few minutes ago when I was playing as him. The survivor called me 'pathetic' cos I was playing that killer at level 1 and I managed to get one kill in the match. What tf was I supposed do, let them go scot free?!! Players like that never cease to amaze me how annoyed they get! I admit the game has decent, humble players who don't care about their rank... but... they're outnumbered by quite a few toxic players unfortunately. I once hooked two survivors and got abuse for playing as 'The Legion'. That made me laugh how angry they got lol.
