Really great acting by Emily Carey this episode, I love how she portrays Alicent. Like, I don't know if she's a pawn being manipulated by the plot and greater characters or the main antagonist. @@Minimumwagelatino There was great dialogue and intrigue in seasons 5 and 6 also. Queen of Thorns when Jamie conquered the Reach for example. It was just that seasons 7 and 8 felt rushed, but I feel like seasons 5-6 kept the balance of increased budgets and great dialogue going. 1-4 was great though because it felt so fresh and new, and season 3 was pretty great with season 4 matching it.

Perfect buildup and pacing in the story. Nothing rushed and the seeds of the Dance of Dragons are slowly starting to sprout. I would hate for girls to think they are simply a “stereotype” as Emily stated bc they act like girls. It is what we do when we are best friends. It’s ok to be girlie. And I don’t think we should expect boys to act like girls do in their friendships. We are different. “Stereotypes” are not true. Girls and boys are not stereotypes.

I think Matt Smith's character knew stealing the dragon egg would upset his brother and make the king come to dragonstone where they could mend their relationship as brothers, Knowing this Otto went to dragonstone to add fuel to the fire and get Matt smith's character to attack Otto, then the king would be more open to killing Matt Smith, the princess showing up really messed up Otto's plans, the look Otto gives the princess after she retrieves the egg without bloodshed, Otto now sees her as a threat to his machinations

King Viserys pissed me off this episode, he loves his daughter yet decides to marry her best friend. He is either very selfish or super ignorant, not good qualities to have. I don't like the King's decisions but for the narrative its very juicy.
@peterparker29812 жыл бұрын
So why Viserys should marry a 12 year old little girl/cousin????? She doesn't even know him like how Alicent does. Otto Hightower/Kings hand prepped her well too, knowing whats to come. I think he knew from 1st episode that this was on the cards after the Kings wife death so he asked her to woo him in the interim and it surely paid off. Good build up. The only regret I have with Viserys is that he should have hinted to his daughter of his intentions to marry Alicent (which is betrayal in the highest order) but its the most viable option. He wants to protect his daughter and he knows that his daughter aint ready for warfare if it comes to the task so as a wise father, you cant prevent whats to come but at least "slow" that situation down so that she can be prepared for that moment. And additionally the king said to Rhanerya that she is the best version of his wife so to see her blood shed would only leave the king in greater depression (and possible faster demise) than the death of his wife/son. Seeing a little child having a kid is gross but it would be more appropriate with Alicent than the suggested option.

Showrunners, if by some miracle you are reading this, I request you to please let Sonoya Mizuno speak in her normal accent in season 2. She is already exotic enough and is a great casting choice for Lady Misery. We have so many characters from Essos in GoT that speak in British accents. No need for Sonoya Mizuno to be any different in that regard. Her forced accent is distracting from her performance, which is a disservice to the talented up-and-coming star.

Two minor gripes with the series so far. 1. I liked the time skip for this episode, but I'm worried that future time skips will make the show feel more like a history retelling than a drama, which is what I would prefer (something more akin to the GoT episodes). I know the source material (fire and blood) is written like a history, but I would have hoped that for the sake of the narrative of a TV show where it seems it's actually attempting to get us to know the characters, they would have filled it in a bit more instead of hopping around only showing "important" events (which is the same mistake the last couple seasons of GoT made). 2. They should have more clearly stated that the reason for Viserys choosing Alicent was that he didn't want to marry at all, but if they were going to make him marry then by golly, he was going to marry for love.
@james81942 жыл бұрын
I think that was pretty clear. Moreover not only is he marrying her because he has genuine feelings toward her, she’s gonna be a better and more dutiful queen, so Rhanera aside it’s a win-win.
@Europa_Forever2 жыл бұрын
@@james8194 I would have preferred an outright heated conversation between someone else (maybe Lord Valaryon?) and the king where he stated as much, so that he doesn't seem like as much of a dick as he comes across in the actual show where he effectively just ignores Lord Valaryon and just springs it on everyone like an idiot. It seems like the show creating drama where there logically didn't need to be any if people were just smarter about going about things. Again, that's a minor gripe so no big deal. And I agree that what Rhaenyra thinks doesn't matter at all here, and it is indeed a good match.
