Lighting the marijuana fields on fire in Far Cry 3, with Skrillex blasting at full volume, with the enemies firing back while you get high on the fire yourself caused. Doesn't get more cathartic than that.

The final mission and just Mass Effect trilogy in general is just so cool. Like if you actually kept your saves and stuff. Like the idea the people actually played with Kaiden all the way through when he’s just a blip for me. Or that people actually played through 3 with Tali and didn’t mourn her. The idea that people didn’t get Wrex throughout the whole series! Just crazy narrative experience. Unique in video games and storytelling in general.

I'm surprised no mission from The Witcher 3 made it into this list! I mean, this game has so many iconic quests and questlines (the Isle of mist, the man with the black pearl, the different questlines to determine the ruler of Skellige, the Carnal Sins quest with the serial killer, the whole Bloody Baron questline, and so many others) though I truly believe the wedding scene from Hearts of Stone can rival any from this top 10 just for the pure creativity and sheer brilliance of the writing.

Agree. Gaunter O’Dimm is one of the best written villains in media as well. When he stopped time and plunged the spoon in that guy’s eye for interrupting him. Realizing that Gaunter was with you during the whole main game. Learning who or what Gaunter O’ Dimm was. Gaunter O’ Dimm spelling GOD, but he being the man of mirrors means his the mirror image of God, which makes him evil incarnate. Yeah, the whole story about Gaunter is some of the best storytelling and character building in a game or media ever.

Glad someone said it, The baron's questline in TW3 is some of the most engaging content in any video game ever. The fact that there's no "right answer" forces you to make tough decisions in a way that 999/1000 games are too afraid to touch.

"Horizon Zero Dawn: The Heart of the Nora." For all of us who wonder what our purpose in life may be, Aloy gets a clear and distinct answer. Her emotional state of that revelation, and then to become "The Anointed" after being shunned her entire life is powerful stuff. The follow-up, "The Mountain That Fell," is also up there, when she learns the true fate of those who led the effort to save mankind. I always find that scene in the meeting room rather haunting.

The ending for red dead redemption has been stuck in my mind since i first played it, really great ending and the revenge aftermath just adds to it. Plenty of memorable levels from metal arms glitch in the system that i personally won't forget. For me the most memorable mission on halo ce is 343 guilty spark, although that game had tons of memorable moments and missions. The ending of two betrayals is my favourite part in the entire franchise. Doom e1m1, not necessarily my favourite level but it was a great entry into the series. Return to castle Wolfenstein : X-labs, if there's one mission that has been stuck on my mind for years it's X-labs. It has some really good action and moments

For another HL2 entry, I’d pick the hunter/civil protection ambush in Episode 2. The one where you’re cornered into a two story house while waves of soldiers are giving cover fire for the hunters who are most certainly HUNTING you and Alyx as they try to break into the house. The first time I played that mission, it all played out SO cinematically and cool. I felt the fear of knowing “oh no. They’re inside” and trying to dodge and outrun them in such a tight space while getting fired at by the storm trooper dudes outside. Just so dang cool

My legendary mission is an escape and run mission in Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (Original Xbox). You lock doors in your hotel room and go to sleep. You're awoken by locals banging on your door and what comes next is a scary intense sequence of barricading doors, run, jumping out windows, running while avoiding getting shot through windows and corridors. It's so intense, scary, the music the sounds the shouting and the fact your character panics, gets blurred vision as he becomes more panicked. Aaaand if you sustain injuries to your legs he'll limp, slowing your pace. Highly recommended.

As far as HALO goes, I'm still partial to AOTCR right after The Silent Cartographer. I must have played that mission a hundred times because you start in the middle of nowhere and battle across a huge map, with I'm pretty sure every vehicle in the game at that point (Ghost to Warthog to Tank to Banshee) - it was just the perfect amalgamation of that first game. And then, of course, Two Betrayals, when you do pretty much that whole mission in reverse with the flood hunting you down, too.

I love the videos you guys put out but the mass effect 2 segment made me think you should do another video of rpgs where choices can truly change the outcome of the game. One of my favorites that comes to mind is Suikoden. The first two specifically but going into wars and having attacks fail which in turn may or may not kill some important characters was amazing. I can't count how many times I reloaded just to keep certain favorite characters alive.

Honorable mention to 'Fallout 3'. It had two potentially iconic quests. - The first being the final mission, 'Take it back!', where you fight along side a battle mech to take back the Jefferson Memorial, and then have to make that controversial choice at the end (unless you have the 'Broken Steel' DLC installed). - Or 'Tranquility Lane', which is my personal favorite.
