This video seriously needs more views! It was one of the best reviews I've ever seen period. I used to play 1701 as a kid and I loved it, then I kinda recently got into 1404 and thanks to this video, I'm about to buy the 1800 Complete Edition, because the current sale (About 40€) seems like an awesome deal. For the algorithm! I remember watching my best friend's brother playing Anno 2070 on his beefy computer back in the day. I've always wanted to play it so I ended up getting Anno 2205 since $130 (all the DLC+Base Game) for 1800 is too steep at the moment. I really enjoy it and i'm looking forward to 1800 in the future. idk, i was expecting you mention the decrease in scope for the soundtrack in comparison to 1404, being only half in length roughly, and how it gets repepetive after a while listening to the same songs over and over. i never felt like that in 1404.

Anarchist is not too bad. I like Mercier: he's a clever concurrent with strong economy that allows him to buy Hunt islands, but he doesn't declare the war just «because». Botanica is just nice, because many of museum/zoo items looks the same. The Passage was good, but it's killed by Lions and Sky Empire :( Sunken Treasure. We have a real endgame now (because campaign finished on engineers). I like map minigames and scrap hunting. But I hate Crownfalls. You can't play normally some future DLCs because they require a big city.

Have you or anyone else seen much or had much to speak on the multiplayer functionality of this Anno? The only multiplayer I've tried is 1404 with my brother (both of us love the Anno series) and 1404 multiplayer was very much an afterthought (and mediocre at best) and my brother was never interested in 2070 so I hope to get him into 1800 if the multiplayer is worth playing.

It's still not worth playing, constant desyncs and lag due to bad netcoding. Also the game is so geared towards a single player experience, pretty much an afterthought.

FOR ME, the absence of land military operations is more than wishful thinking, it is, indeed critical!every other aspect of this game has me on board 2 buy, but until they actually implement this feature count me out.

How is the performance overall on medium pcs?

Depends on what you would define a medium PC spec-wise, but again, the game's performance fluctuates massively from early to late game. If your intention is to build massive cities with massive population at more than 15-20 fps then it would be worth it to play this game on a better system. But a low-medium PC could still run this game on low-medium settings for a 'normal' Anno 1800 session (reaching endgame, completing victory conditions e.t.c.).

Looking forward to this game. 3090 is so dang good Cyberpunk was making me nauseous on a 44 inch wide screen with every maxed out. Looking to relax a but and play Anno and ease back into insane FPS.

Love this game but there are a few things I would change... For instance I would like to see the game have more mature content. Anno is a series that's to complicated for young children to understand. So I would appreciate them not skirting around racism, and religious ideology of the time. Secondly there should be more options when it comes to interacting with the AI. Lastly one of the specialists should be Bill the Butcher.

I rarely touch anything of Western cultures, but this soundtrack... it's insane, it feels incredibly epic, don't even know how to explain it, it almost bring tears to my eyes listening to it. some of the loading screen artworks are also incredibly detailed, capture the aesthetic & emotions of the culture so well they are literally million dollar masterpieces in my eyes...

I would argue that on the *premise* front, there are some issues. This game seems...very pro-colonialism. It also seems like an excellent, in depth game with a lot of interesting ways to play it, but if you're going to give a review score on the game's premise, then you have to admit that's kinda an issue... Of course, anyone who's gotten through an hour long review of the game to see that score has probably managed to achieve sufficient distance between the game and the historical period that inspired it that it's not a problem for them, but...it's definitely a thing. (This might be a thing I'm only really noting because of my experience with the Anno series being almost entirely in its near future settings that manage to avoid problematic things from history by looking forward at future developments rather than looking back at times past.)

The game is inspired by the 19-20th century setting but is certainly in no way historical. In fact, its more of a satirical alternate/steampunk premise rather than any true history; i.e. prevalence of airships/electricity/oil, knowledge of dinosaurs and mythical animals, existence of Atlantis e.t.c. plus no mention or reference to any real-world nation or characters. Lots of inspirations and perhaps some adaptations of a few references a keen historical person may recognise. And I definitely get the 'exploitation' of the new world as your stance but you can extend that to exploitation of the working class/labour issues/and a host of other socio-economic problems if you look that deepy, I just wouldn't take games like this too seriously, as long as the developers don't specifically push an absorbent pro-colonialism agenda, which they haven't, I wouldn't be too worried. The Anno series has a long tradition as a resource-simulation city-builder game, not historical non-fiction.
