"Concrete is an insulator." - Jay, 2019 Ok, I'll gladly provide details :o) : There are three types of heat transfer: convection, radiation and conduction. Convection is indirect heat transfer by some kind of fluid flow. Concrete is mostly air tight and, if sealed, even water-proof. So concrete is indeed very effective at stopping convective heat transfer. Radiation is heat transfer in the form of IR radiation. Concrete absorbs most IR radiation, so it's a pretty good radiative insulator. Now for conduction: This is simple heat transfer between (usually) solids "by touch". Concrete has a fairly low thermal conductivity of about 0.8-2.5 W/Km (Watts per Kelvins and meters) at room temperature. Compared with copper's 401 W/Km, concrete is therefore an amazing thermal insulator. Ok, but copper is one of the worst materials for this purpose, of course. If we compare it to an actual building insulator, let's say glass wool (0.045 W/Km), concrete is total garbage for insulation. That said, because of its high mass, when concrete is used to build walls, it can absorb a lot of thermal energy. This means it can level out temperature fluctuations over the day quite effectively. E.g. if you were to build a house in an extreme desert climate with daily temperature fluctuations from 5-40°C (about 40-100°F), then concrete would be fairly effective at leveling these fluctuations to let's say 20-25°C (about 65-75°F) with the same mean value but much less variance. TL;DR: Concrete is not a good insulator, but it can be effective at leveling daily temperature fluctuations.

For ez to make, very nice sound panels, consider stepping up to rockwool. build a frame with 2"x2" or 2"x4" boards in 2'x4' or 2'x8'ft lengths. fill with the rockwool batts and cover with fabric using staples to hold it tight. Its the same thing as you'd find in the walls of recording studios, its easily movable and fire resistant too. My recording studio started as 4 concrete walls, but theres no reverb or echo now, and outside sounds are absorbed as well. These panels bought from companies are $300 or more, but its $30 in supplies. for more info, search "diy rockwool sound panels"

I love you both, guys. You guys sum up what`s worth to watch and follow on KZbin. I can absolutely tell that this is not a Jayz2Cents video. There's a different camera being used to shot this one, and perhaps different lighting?

GN shows so much more than every one. The mind gets tested and blown to new avenues. Keep up the good work.

This was a fun video Ty for doing it. It's nice you all mostly get along. Sometimes I almost feel guilty about watching different channels... I watch this Hardware Unboxed, Jayz two cents, and Pauls Hardware

The video was very interesting. I always wonder what happens in the background to make these technical videos. Thanks to you and Jay.
