Get the Hybrid Kit from EVGA. I did on mine and it's 30C cooler.
@cosmocalypse37087 жыл бұрын
I agree it's a little more expensive but in my case (literally) I have a giant tempered glass side panel and the Kraken bracket is not very attractive. I had the G10 and a Kraken x41 on my 780 ti before, but I'm happy with my Hybrid kit now even though the cost is a little high. What I did was sign up for notifications on EVGA's site and bought one as soon as they got a few in. Also, don't forget that you'll have to come up with your own VRM and VRAM cooling solution with the g12 bracket. With the EVGA kit, everything is covered and cooled out of the box.

Look at the video for the MSI armor on this channel. He uses a kraken g12 and it seemed pretty legit.

I didn't buy it for the OC gains. Those gains mean nothing to game performance in the real world. I bought it because the FE was so damn loud and hot!!! :)

I run the 120mm NZXT AER RGB at %50 which is 1100Rpm. If its a hot day i run it at %75 which is 1400Rpm. Card stays cool on either setting.

The best thing about this card is it keeps your case really cool. If you exhaust the radiator the gpu is not dumping nearly as much heat into your case. This with my 9900k 360 aio and both gpu and cpu temps stay below 65c

You left out the fact the the FTW is the only AIB 1080TI that keeps its size down to 2 slots versus 2.5 slots in all the other AIB cards. 2.5 slots allows for a larger heatsink with more surface area, so naturally they are going to be a bit cooler. However, you don't lose access to the adjacent PCIE slot with the the FTW card & if you're running 1080TI SLI you have a lot more room for both cards to breathe in this configuration. The fact that the FTW performs as well as it does with a smaller heatsink is a testament to the engineering inherent in it's design. It easy to leave this bit out because 99% of people are not going to run 1080TI SLI nor use all of their PCIE slots, but EVGA has always promoted themselves as designing prodcuts for enthusiast & hard-core gamers alike and keeping the size down to two slots is an important buying for this segment of the market... None of these cards overclock with a darn anyway, so it feels like splitting hairs anyway when comparing any of the AIB cards...

evga air cooler really sucks. evga should have gone for 2.5 slot or even 3 slot because its acx or icx coolers are really bad compared to old msi tf and old asus strix cooler which were within 2 slot. better cooling means larger noise reduction room. thats is the only point of pascal nowadays.

Steve, agreed on the nonsense fan curves. I have the 1080 FTW Hybrid, and the lowest the fan will spin is 56%. Even if the GPU is running at 24c, its still running at 56%. I wish they can push a firmware update to the cooling loop so we can get a little bit of control of it.

Any reason why they decided to disable the 3 indicator lights that ICX added in the SC2 and FTW3 air cooled versions? I know the FTW3 hybrid (newer)has RGB which a few people wanted and this just has plain White logo led, but it should have retained the 3 G/P/M lights. Probably needs the RGB controller doesn't it?

Steve, what max rpm does that sc2 radiator fan have? I have 1080Ti FE with corsair h110 and have to turn the fans on ~1200rpm to keep gpu under 50C in heavy gaming. Is it okay or h110 should do better?

it would be even better to compare cooling performance of non ref cards given the same power limit manually set (differently) for all the cards, like 300w for all 1080ti cards. some high end card like gigabyte aorus extreme 1080ti has 375w max for its power limit, some ref base cards have 300w max, and some non ref cards have 330w max.
@photonboy9997 жыл бұрын
Even at 50degC for liquid cooling, does that really benefit the card long-term over say 70degC? There's no throttling, so no performance advantage AFAIK (for NVidia Pascal at least), so at what exact POINT are we just talking about higher fan speeds (noise) for no significant benefit to thermal degradation?
@ztks7 жыл бұрын
The fan seems to run at 100% for me and everyone else in Amazon reviews. Oh and you can't connect that fan to the mobo, it won't show up... It'll continue to run at the same speed.

Shake Spear This card is pure perfection. My job is GPU computing so I tend to be particularly watchful about the thermal status. The closed loop cooler is quiet, effective, and does not disappoint me in the slightest. With the current whopping $110 rebate, there is no reason not to grab one if you are seeking a high end card. Volta gaming cards have remained a mirage. Most current rumors floating around stem from an article based on pure hypothesis, and the author seems not a very trustworthy technical person.

Anyone know if Biostar is a decent brand? I was ordering my 1600 and I found a x370 board(Biostar x370gt3 v 6.) for 10$ more then a B350 board. Its a mini form factor which is also something I am looking for.
@cieuxlux96177 жыл бұрын
I read a ton of reviews regarding the Biostars during Ryzen's launch and no one recommended them except very few specific outlets -- half because of instability and half because of a very poor BIOS that wasn't receiving updates. If you're really interested in a m-ITX board -- I'm not sure if there are any other than Biostar out yet -- but if there aren't, I would recommend saving your money and waiting until there is a different brand out.
@5ch4cht3l77 жыл бұрын
World Kat Biostar is new to the game and produces mainly for China. Their Boards are ok, the Drivers aren't as great. The only board I can recommend from them is the X370GTN because it's the only m-itx board available now. The thing is the X370 Board doesn't have to be better than the B350. The Main difference is the SLI/CF Support, other than that look for the things you need (Pcie Slots, USB 3.1 Gen 2, Nvme Slots, Audio Outputs etc) and buy the Board accordingly
@kasperlindstrom99907 жыл бұрын

Asrock makes some of the best bang/buck amd motherboards there is. Bioses aren't the best but they aren't bad either, same with Ram support. The Vrm's on all but the cheapest are more than enough to overclock a ryzen 5 to 4.0 Ghz without issue.

Gamers Nexus from what I've seen, manufacturers like MSI and Asus just take the same cooler and slap it on both AMD and Nvidia even though they require different amounts of cooling (pretty sure the rx 580 requires more cooling than the 1060 but they use the same coolers on both) while dedicated manufacturers can specifically design the cooler for that specific card instead of being universal so it has better performance.
